kll724 replied to rousselin02's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your new guy info made me tear up. So glad that you updated us! You sound like you are doing a great job. Hurray for your friends and family! Karen -
Yes, same as the other 2 people. My surgeon always removes and then puts back in, whatever. I am at the max not of my band, but what I can tolerate, but if I ask, he will pull out, and then try to pu tmore fill in. Usually ends up to be the same as I previously had! Karen

Normally, I get out around 8:30 or 8:45 and walk about 40-45 minutes. Today, I did that, then came home and picked weeds for about 40 mins. My yard man s on 2 weeks vacation. After that, while the men were taking ab break with some lemonade, I pushed the mower a bit. Pretty good cardio day. I was wet with seat by the time I came in! whatever you do to increase your heart rate and get exercise is good!

Just Say No To Samples At The Grocery Store!
kll724 replied to maegan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've eaten dinner at Sams's Club, too! In fact, I have eaten dinner at Publix, you know httey have that section where they show you how to cook a meal. Got a little plate, then had a sample of keylime pie. Perfect for my meal! Heh! -
You are both in the healing process! Take care, you will feel hurts and gas and all sorts of bad things the 1st week. If you have no sudden temp rise or bad smell coming from your incision, you should be okay. Call your surgeon with any questions! Best wishes for a smooth healing process, get up and walk!!!!

Your Progess-Feel Like I Should've Lost More At This Poing
kll724 replied to kariew28's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with the others, 33 lbs is not something to just brush off. That is 33 lbs that you carried around and didn't loose before your surgery, or liquid pre-op. I lost slowly my first 6 months, then all of a sudden. I am on vacation and going to a gym, so I am watching my weight on a scale, but I stop at one of those truck stop places and put a quarter into the machine and it says 147. I am shocked and happy! What I am saying is after a month vacation, I had suddenly dropped 15 lbs that I was not aware I had done! Best wishes, you are probably in for a NSV soon!! Karen -
Yes, best wishes to teachers and others who work and don't want to have to run. I have been stuck on anything that you can think of. If I try eat too much of a good thing, including Greek yogurt, it will come up! Sometimes, even when you are not aware that you ate too much, something will cause it to come up. I suggest for teachers to keep a small bottle of coke at your desk.. It works like a roto-rooter type thing and will wash it down. Don't drink all of a soda, just an ounce will do. I keep one handy, I don't refrigerate, and its not for when I am thirsty! It can even be totally flat, which is best since we aren't supposed to drink carbonation! Best wishes. Karen

I told some people. I di not tell everyone what type of surgery I was having. Eventually, when the weightloss showed, I told more people. A lot of people still only know that I watched what I ate, ate smaller portions, and exercised a lot. Best wishes

What Does Getting Stuck Feel Like?
kll724 replied to thunderbeast77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that was getting stuck. If you have a problem that won't clear up, try pineapple juice, or a little warm coke. Pineapple juice will bring it up, coke will work like roto-rooter and woosh it down. Best wishes. Karen -
I agree with Elcee. Usually, band problems are progressive, they don't just slip without notice. Best wishes for your recovery.

It depends on your surgeon. I did not have those problems, so I can't say. My daughter had her gall balder removed several weeks before her lapband, tho'! I think whatever your surgeon's and your preference is. Best wishes, Karen

Anyone Not Lost The Amount Of Lbs Required During Pre-Op?
kll724 replied to Overjoyed1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon did not have a strict,"you need to lose this much weight". He just wanted my liver to be less fat. I am sure that everything will be okay. Just stick to the diet your surgeon gave you. Best wishes.Karen -
My son is doing fantastic. His bandiversay is next week. He is down almost 100 lbs in 1 year. The surgeon(mine) has him tight to try reach that 1 year goal. My daughter, not so good, she has 2 kids and stays busy with them, so her exercise habits are only what the time allows. she doesn't keep a tight band and is a slow lose. But, sh eis down 40 lbs in 2 1/2 years, so not too bad. Its 40 lbs she wouldn't have lost! Best wishes, and take care. Karen

Hi, Tuesday was my birthday. I just finished my 3rd and last meal from the dinner. We went to Olive Garden. My hubby decided he didn't want to share my meal, so whatever I ordered was mine. I ordered stuffed chicken breast (stuffed with cheese),that came with mashed potatoes. I was able to eat about 2 bites of potatoes and 2 bites of chicken. I did not want to over eat. I, also, since it was my birthday, had a "skinny" margarita. I probably enjoyed that more than dinner!! But, anyway, made dinner on Wednesday, and tonight. I know that the meal wasn't really a good choice, but it was my birthday and I have lost 100 lbs in 2 1/2 years. So I am not too guilty! Take care, folks, this is the long haul and we can do it. Eat like a SKINNY person, too! Karen

NSV=non scale victory! I , also, have gotten a kick out of seeing myself in the overhead mirrors and realizing that it is me in the mirror and I don't look 1/2 bad! Karen
-
I, also, did not need my PCP permission. She remains very supportive and proud of my weight loss.

You go Girl! Best wishes on your "new" life and your future honeymoon! Karen

Yes, Jean is great! She has a lot of information and has been around a long time. Of course, I agree with the others that say call your surgeon, and also, talk with a nutritionist. See if there is a support group in your area, too. My experience is that even tho' you can eat what you did, you shouldn't. But, that said, you have lost 30 lbs, you are losing and that is important. My daughter is a slow loser, too! But, she has lost, and that is great! Keep up the good work, but see if you can find a local support. Karen

Haha! Yes, but my own daughter, who sees me hundreds of times a week, looked down a Walmart aisle and didn't see me! Best wishes and hope that you get to your goal by November!
