No, no, no, really..... it's muggy and sticky........It rains all the time. And those Hurricanes......just think about all those hurricanes. Besides, you would miss white Christmases and all those fashionable winter clothes. Forget about Florida......It's got too many mosquitoes anyway........... LOL! Yes, I agree, actually where I live I call Southern Quebec as we get a lot of Canadian snow birds.

I found sitting uncomfortable after surgeries. Your stomach is still sore, but as long as you can get up stand and walk around bit, you might be able to go back to work after a long weekend. But, please check with your medical team.Karen

Post-Op Liquid Diet?
kll724 replied to fghtffyrdmns's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well then she can publicly speak for herself. I have enjoyed her contribution to the boards as well. Her response to me (with the many exclamation marks) was uncalled for. I was respectful and sent you a pm. If you want me to speak publicly, then fine. It is important that you don't give medical advice. That is something we don't do here on this site. You are new and I forgive the fact that you see yourself as an expert. so there, is that the apology you wanted. Karen, now report me if you like! -
2nd fill... Replacement band! And this one is different!
kll724 replied to Los's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, unfortunately, I am no longer 144, just too lazy to correct teh weight. I have gained, enough that I may see if I can get a replacement to jump start my losses. I have 3 weeks until my next appointment. I gained like 3 lbs this weekend(?) How, who knows! Karen -
Sounds like you need to talk with a nutritionist. Perhaps you are eating too many sliders. Can you try walking on the days that you are not going to the gym? I found daily walks help, too! Best wishes. Karen

Orientation meeting freaked me out!
kll724 replied to Cairobat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best wishes on your decision. I guess a 4 hour orientation would scare me too! Anyway, a good nutritionist can guide your food choices. Most doctors have you see a psychologist too, that person can help you talk thru your food addictions. -
Post-Op Liquid Diet?
kll724 replied to fghtffyrdmns's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist has us follow this plan: Preop: 10 day liquid (16 oz total Protein shake throughout the day, broth, sugar free Jello and popsicles) 1st 24 hours postop: Clear liquids only 1st 2 weeks postop: 3 meals a day (no more than 4oz) that can fit through a straw (without using a straw) with 2 Snacks (protein shake). Soups mostly, but oatmeal and soggy cereal are ok. Weeks 3-4 postop: Soft diet...basically anything pureed. Adding meats 3 meals a day. 2.5 oz solid and 1 oz nonstarchy veggie or fruit. Canned tuna and chicken, deli meat, eggs, Beans, etc. Snack 2 protein shakes (4 oz each) 1 month postop: normal diet From a nutrition standpoint, a full 6 weeks of liquids does not seem healthy to me and it's nearly impossible to get enough calories in without becoming malnourished. It does not take the body that long to heal from this procedure. Did you see a nutritionist or just your doctor for the diet info? Please note! This is an opinion! People need to follow their own doctor or nutritionist plans! We don't know you or your needs! Most surgeon's do not have such a liberal diet plan./ thanks, Karen -
Never be ashamed! You have done fantastic!! You might not lose any weight every month, you know. But, go for a fill, you probably need another. Best wishes, make that appointment tomorrow. Karen

2nd fill... Replacement band! And this one is different!
kll724 replied to Los's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that I might need a second band. I had mine put in Oct 2009. I had 2 slips, 2nd came with a revision. I have NEVER lost weight since the revision and just gradually gained. I have 5 cc in my band and can't tolerate any more. I have an apt with my surgeon this month. I might ask about a new band! Karen -
Watch your junk food intake. You indicated that you were eating a lot of that. Have you seen your bariatric team, doctor, nutritionist, etc lately? That would be a good place to start. best wishes,Karen

I agree with all that was written. Mostly, donna450 said what I would have said, mind your own business, lady! Then I would have reported her to corporate.

WLS and the Gluten Free Diet: 5 Myths Busted
kll724 replied to 7 Bites_Jen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
My son has celiac and gluten intolerance runs in my husbands family. After allergy tests were inconclusive for my grandchildren, my daughter chose gluten free. Both of my grands are very aware of their diets, and will ask, "Is that gluten free?" It gets tough on them at parties, but they survive! It Is NOT diet food! If people should want diet, they should try paleo instead. It will make people who have gluten-intolerance, celiac, IB, and other problems clear up if they stick to gluten free. Best wishes to all. Gluten free people also have to change dog or cat food, too! -
Are you in your clear liquids stage? It should be okay if you are!

I have 5 cc, but everyone is different as you see the answers here are. Don't worry about others, you will just happen when you happen. Then what you have will make a difference to no one but you1 Good luck, Karen

Calorie Counting During Blended Stage?
kll724 replied to BandedBrunette481's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with leepers. You are only in the mushy stage for a little while, doubtful that you will be in "starvation" mode that quickly! Eat you Protein and whatever you mix to make your mushy foods, and the amount your nutritionist has advised, you will be fine! Karen -
I agree, taste and smell should not be gone from the lapband, actually, I wish it would! Anyway, you should see your physician, best wishes, KAren
