What a difference a month makes.....
KZol replied to wannalise's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good to know. I used to have the proverbial "stomach of iron" but the last couple of years I seem to be throwing up at the slightest provocation. It does seem unfair that the more I vomit, the FATTER I get... -
Whew! You guys were scaring me there. I am supposed to be taking prescription Naproxen for life...just haven't filled the script...and it would be extremely uncool if that kept me from being sleeved.

Removing stitches ....now I have a big hole!
KZol replied to CAMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I popped a stitch after my breast reduction surgery and also ended up with a big HOLE. I thought I'd be clever and put one of those "advanced healing" bandages over it and removed it several days later to find a MUCH BIGGER hole. I emailed my surgeon pics, panicking, and this is the RIGHT thing to do: Keep it clean and dry, a little neosporin is okay, and bandage it loosely so air can get to it. If you're like me, you'll have some scarring as a souvenir. -
I already have this issue, and I'm pre-op. Plain water just makes my stomach woggly. (And yes, I just made that word up.)

Pumpkin, I know what you're saying, I also NEVER lose weight. I am so excited to rock my sleeve!

11 month post-op Update with a little attention whoring
KZol replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Look at you! SO gorgeous! I have to admit to being totally fascinated by your before and after pictures. I have not been obese all my life, but have mostly been the more voluptuous type...to imagine being tiny! WOW! -
My Journey to 100 lbs
KZol replied to ichefmastersgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WOW, 100 lbs down! That is wonderful. Congratulations on your success! -
Congratulations, and thanks for posting about the swimming....it's really nice for me to know that you have been so successful with it, as it's really the only recommended exercise for me (I have fibromyalgia). Thanks for the inspiration!

That is FANTASTIC! More than two pounds a day....

I have been researching this surgery for MONTHS, lurking on the boards, reading other people's experiences, checking out surgeons, and hardest of all, talking to my husband. He was not supportive at first--he doesn't want me to die....but I wouldn't be the first person in his family to have WLS so that's something. He also won't just sit down and talk about it with me. I have to throw little bits of information at him on the sly and then let him ponder them at length. So tonight, FINALLY, he agreed that he's 100% on board and even helped me choose a surgeon! I feel like such a weight has been lifted from my shoulders! I feel like CHANGE is finally possible. I have been hiding in my house for months. I literally cannot bear to have anybody see me "like this". My weight has had its ups and downs and all my life I've trended toward the voluptuous, but I've finally reached the point of saying "no more". There IS a light at the end of the tunnel!

My med manager said I could just open up the Wellbutrin, even though it says "do not crush", that she's had other people do it and it's fine. -
Keys Pirate 3 Month Update; Comments and Pics (long)
KZol replied to Keys Pirate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for your post!! I am VERY impressed by your discipline and your protein intake--I hope I can do as well. -
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this be because so much estrogen is stored in fat and it's dumped into the bloodstream when we lose fat?
-
Oh Diane, I'm so sorry you're having a hard time. I hope that you feel MUCH better tomorrow and you're able to get in all your liquids.

Aceves patients-did you have 3 month upper GI?
KZol replied to artteacher698's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took iron for a long time to try to counteract anemia. The trick is to look for ferrous GLUCONATE instead of ferrous sulfate. Much easier on the system. They have it at Walgreens, sometimes it's behind the counter and you have to ask. -
Another hair loss question.
KZol replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wuh oh....I also have very fine hair....there's a lot of it, it's just really fine. I think plan A will be to perm it before surgery (I know, curly perms are cheesy but on my wavy hair they actually look very natural) to create more volume and help hide the loss. THEN, when I have regrowth that's an inch or two long and it's sticking up everywhere, I'll get a super short pixie cut. Always wanted one of those but never had a JAWLINE....looking forward to that! -
100 lbs...that's a WHOLE PERSON gone (albeit a little bitty one). We are so proud of you!!!
-
Hooray, happy dance! Good for her! I hope her results are spectacular.
-
I just read Aceve's post-op diet, and it didn't seem to me that once you were on real food he counted protein drinks as a "meal". I thought we could have those in between to help get our protein in. Am I wrong?

Snappy comebacks for rude comments about WLS
KZol replied to educationrulz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eh. I've been criticized for "frivolous" surgery (breast reduction) by my extended family and you know what? Everybody comes around. Or NOT. Whatever. I finally chose not to waste my energy worrying about what other people thought. People who say "Oh, I would never have done that..." I just tell "It's good it wasn't your choice then." and smile. Let them enjoy their misery. I'm doing what's right for me. -
Doing the happy dance for you and your amazing results! I can only hope mine will be similarly spectacular!
-
I've heard of these and knew they could compress fat cells--never knew they tightened skin. I might have to make this a habit for the bat wings I know are coming.

Okay, just my experience as a yo-yo dieter: when in the past I've lost weight quickly, it would all come off in one area, then slowly my body would "redistribute" things more evenly. Or not. My weight seems to always funnel into my bra which somebody is probably going to slap me for whining about, but seriously, a 36FF is no joyride when they're real. I used to catch glimpses of myself in store windows and stuff, not realize it was me, and think "Good GOD, how can that woman stand upright??" The point being: everybody's body has a natural shape to which it will stubbornly return. This is rarely the shape first achieved with rapid loss. Keep working out, don't sweat it, and your body will find its balance.

OregonDaisy, when are you coming to Arizona and where is your dad's house? I'm about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson and would ride with you if you liked.
