This may be my new drug of choice -- I am feeling well today and have no discomfort at the band site! I PRAY that it lasts. I was in the ER again yesterday for dehydration. They gave me 2 liters of fluid and Pepcid and said that they like to give it too all bariatric patients post-op. So, I took one last night and one this morning and this is the best I've felt so far in 9 days. I'm working on a protein shake, had a small container of Greek yogurt and feel hungry again. I don't feel dehydrated. PLEASE, I hope this lasts. PLEASE??? :rolleyes2:

Veronda, I've found that watching television doesn't help with the "missing what we used to have". All those food commercials! I made the mistake of watching Food Network today -- I'm still on clear liquids 8 days after surgery, so that was just sad for me!

Terri, it is a relief to hear I'm not the only one who is having trouble. I was in the ER again today for hydration. I had 2 liters of fluids and did ice chips and that helped. The dr. also recommended Pedialyte ice pops -- the kids they make for kids. He said that would be even better than regular ice pops. I hope you are feeling better!

I was banded a week ago -- have been having quite a bit of discomfort. It feels like something is "stuck" in my sternum (where the band is), even though I've only had Clear Liquids. Sunday was the worst -- could only get down 9 oz. of liquid all day. So, my doctor sent me to the ER. They did x-rays while I drank some awful-tasting stuff -- the band was working correctly and was in the right spot. They gave me IV hydration and Tylenol with codeine. I had stopped taking Perocet, but I guess I still needed something. That helped quite a bit and this feeling has been getting better and better. The episodes of it are fewer and less uncomfortable. I did start eating yogurt yesterday and this morning I had that same awful feeling again. When I swallowed the liquid Tylenol in the afternoon, it must have pushed something through because there was instant relief. So, I guess I have to learn to eat less than the miniscule amount I had until things heal up. It hasn't been as easy of a recovery as I thought it would be. One week later, I'm barely on anything but clear liquids and am exhausted. Dr. said Protein will help that, so I'm trying to get 8 oz. of shake in where I can. Just wanted to give my story so that no one is surprised if this happens -- I know I didn't expect it and hadn't read anything about it. Good luck to all!

Banded yesterday...questions about pain.
SharShar replied to Razorgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is my 3rd day post-op. Pain-wise I'm doing okay just using Tylenol, but I am having a terrible time drinking. The smallest sips of water or Crystal Light feel like they get "stuck". It's a terrible feeling. I am worried that it will feel like this forever -- I'm definitely not getting enough fluids. Today I had about 6 oz. of protein drink and an ice pop. Has anyone else had this experience? Will it improve? I called my surgeon -- he said this is the restriction and my tummy is swollen from surgery. I'm not in a good spot today and would welcome advice, comments, etc. Thank you! -
Linda, I hope the heating pad helps! I also feel fuzzy from pain meds, so I'm going to try Tylenol today. I am still pretty tired too. I don't feel hungry at all -- I'm on clear liquids today and maybe tomorrow too, then full liquids (anything that can fit through a funnel). I'm not having any issues with gas, but my neck and upper chest have "muscular achiness" -- kind of like I worked out too hard. Maybe that's from being in a weird position during surgery.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group -- I was just banded yesterday. I didn't stay overnight in the hospital. I've been moving around some today, but am very tired. I'm taking Percocet for pain and that helps. A heating pad on my belly really helps. I'm sipping Water, Crystal Light and sugar-free ice pops. Those feel really good on a dry throat. Looking forward to feeling more like myself in the upcoming days!

There will be more space on my lap for my two kids to sit!
