My sister and my mom paid for the surgery.  They wanted me to get the weight off while my daughter was still young.  I didn't try to get insurance to pay, since I was not any where close to the BMI required.  (mine was 32 I think).  I went to Mexico and had it done - no complications.  It was less than 1/2 the price - around $6K.  The doctor was great, the hospital was great.  I started at about 220 and would like to get to 150.  I'm at 194 now.  It's coming off...slowly.  And up until the past 2 weeks, I could pretty much eat what I wanted.  But this past weekend (Halloween) I couldn't eat ANYTHING or really even drink anything.  I don't know what changed, but I'm back to liquids for the next 3 days to see if that helps...
