So, It's been 1 year 8 months since banding. About 4 months ago, I started to have some issues not keeping anything down, went for tests to make sure...ALL is good. However, they had to do an unfill for the tests and I still don't have the money to go back to get a fill ($150 each time since I'm self pay). I've gained 18lbs back and I'm feeling awful about it. To the point that I noticed I went back to all my old eating habits I know that I can get back on track, just need some encouraging words from anyone out there that has been in a similar situation. Anyone?

Advice needed, please.
newstacy09 replied to sbrick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any advice either...I am shocked that the doctor would act like that. I am so sorry that your experience is turning out this way. I think that your loss is AWESOME and to continue to do what you are doing! -
Just wanted to share!!! I am at 199.8!!!!!!!! I haven't been here for 7 years!!!!!! Even though it's going slow, I am so excited! :smile2::tt1:

Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others

There were times I used to stress over what people are saying on these boards bc I'm not experiencing the same things or not losing as much...however, even though I thought that I was losing slow my last visit to the dr. was awesome! She did nothing but rave over my 9 lb loss for the month. It was then that my thinking finally changed...no matter what rate I am losing, I am FINALLY losing. So since then I have stopped really reading the "negative" posts. Maybe many of us are so used to negative comments about our weight and health that we have fallen in that same mode. I can tell you this...It's been 4 months and I've lost 31 lbs and I am so excited it crazy. I am nowhere near my goal, but just seeing that I CAN do it is awesome!!! :smile2: I have a totally new outlook on life! I hope all bandsters learn to get excited about ANY loss! -
Need a pick me up...
newstacy09 replied to newstacy09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I'm not one for exercise...which is why it is so slow I think. My husband and I own a child care business and many days we are both working 12 hours a day. So by the time I get home, I don't want to even move. A plus is that I have dropped 2 shirt sizes in my uniform shirt and a pant size too. -
It's going slow for me... Tell me your success/positive stories! I need a pick me up!

I seriously don't have time to exercise...I own my own business and work 12 hrs a day many days. I also have a 4 year old that you know...needs to be fed, bathed, spent time with, and so on. The only exercise I really like is swimming and I don't have any time for it!!! I know that my weight loss would be so much more if I exercised! Aghhh!

Hey! I am Stacy, 32 year old from Buford, GA. I too use Dr. Titus Duncan. He and his staff have been wonderful! I am married and have a beautiful adopted Guatemalan 4 year old daughter! My journey has been a slow one so far, but I am hoping that my weight loss begins to speed up! :smile2:

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what <sweet spot> restriction feels like??... I had my 2nd fill (total of 5.5 cc in a 10 cc band) Aug 26th and since then I have been restricted on eating. I eat about 1/2 cup and have to make sure that I really chew chew chew. Sometimes, my food is cold before I can finish it. I have gotten stuck several times and just have to relax until it goes down. I never got stuck before my 2nd fill. I am just wondering if it is too tight or if this is the way it is supposed to be? I am still learning to eat slower and chew more. It kicks me in the butt when I eat too fast. Any insight?????

So, I got my first fill yesterday  They told me to do liquids for 2 days...I'm so hungry:drool:. I can get through it though!! Dr. put in 4cc in my 10cc band. He was happy that I had been losing some and was ready to "get this show on the road"! I'm just so happy that for 6 weeks I've been losing and haven't felt like I've been depriving myself as in previous attempts to lose weight. I've also been very lucky to not pb yet! Just been taking it very slow and learning to listen to my body. Just wanted to share!~

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share that Monday will mark 5 weeks of being banded and I have lost a total of 15 lbs! It's slow going, but I couldn't be more happier! I am finally on my way to a healthier life! I've already had to give away some of my clothes because they are too big . So, I just wanted to share :wink2:!

Am I the only one that thinks this is a diet?
newstacy09 replied to pickles123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering this myself...I am finishing up week 4 of being banded and have gotten a bit down in the dumps because I went from losing 11 lbs to nothing. I keep looking here on the boards for that encouragement because I know that I am in "bandster Hell" at the moment. I hope that I can make a lifestyle change and never have to "diet" again. It's just right now at this moment...it feels like a diet...but I'm learning! You've had the set back and I can understand your feelings. Hope you find the encouragement you need!!! -
Antiphospholipid syndrome-lapband
newstacy09 replied to hope@50plus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have active RA which is an autoimmune disease and I have the lap band. My drs did not have a problem with it and neither did the surgeons. I had to stop my medications 3 weeks before and wait until I was healed completely to have it again. I was worried that I wasn't able to get banded, but I was. I don't know much about your situation, but just make sure that you work with your doctors. If they say no, I wouldn't do it. They are there to help you look after yourself. Good Luck! -

Labor Day Challenge
newstacy09 replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm IN! I am shooting for 15 lbs. 1st fill will be on 7/24 so we will see! This is my first challenge!!!! -
Ok...So...Like all of us here, I've spent all my life trying to lose the weight. I am 3 weeks post op and since I am now moving on to solids, the weight loss is slowing down. Today I had a moment thinking WHY would the band help? Nothing else did. Then it I started freaking out about it all and the fact that I spent all this money and it might not work (self pay). I know from reading the board that right now is the "bandster Hell" time until my first fill on July 24th. I am also worried because my work schedule is so all over the place that I don't have much time for exercise (husband and I own a day care that has 200 children). I won't have a normal work schedule until Aug. and then I can schedule a set time to exercise. I'm scared!!!! What if it doesn't work?!:)

I'm Scared - Need support
newstacy09 replied to newstacy09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the posts! I am realizing that this is a learning process. (A hard learning process!) Thank you for the support! I am going to split up my exercise time for the month of July just like you suggested! Thanks!!! -
I am two weeks post op and on mushies. Today I had some avacado pieces. About a 30 minutes later I felt awful sick to my stomach! I tried relaxing and breathing slow. However, I had to run to the bathroom to throw up! But, it was just dry heaves and burping. It hurt! I've done it once more after I took the anti-nausa meds. Nothing came up. What's wrong? How can I make it stop?

Banded yesterday - June 14th - recovery ?s
newstacy09 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SO.....yesterday was my big day. I have to say that recovery is not what I thought (however, I have NEVER had any type of surgery EVER). I am so sore. Last night I was in pain and tried not to have to take the narcotic but had to anyway. Dr. told me to walk around as much as possible and to cough!? All of that hurts! Also, he said that they don't stitch up the belly button and mine is leaking:scared2: some blood and some clear stuff. I am waiting on the office to call today to check on me (they do that with all patients) so I can ask them about it. I just need some encouragement to get through the recovery process. I am a big whiner and like I said...never been through anything like this before! -
Banded yesterday - June 14th - recovery ?s
newstacy09 replied to newstacy09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! Thanks for posting! I am 9 days post op now and I am feeling good. There are the occasional pulls and tugs inside, but overall it is getting much better. However, after 1 week of liquids, I was starving. So I moved on to full liquids and some mushies. Today I was able to eat a piece of sliced deli ham with a bit of cheese. It goes down well and I chew like crazy. It doesn't hurt and I don't need to throw up. I hope that I'm not hurting anything:blush:. Hope you all are doing well in your healing process! -
I am 1 week post op and the only real pain I get is where the port is. It seems to "stick" out sometimes and when it does, it hurts!!! It hurts to sit, bend, and breath. Other times I can't even feel it under my skin and it doesn't bother me. Normal? Or Not?

Thanks guys! Yesterday was my first day out since the surgery. I had some pain/pressure at the port site. Is that normal? -
Hi! I was just banded on July 14th as well. I've struggled with emotions and the fact that my relationship with food has been interrupted. I am here if you want to talk. Just know that you can do it! We can do it!
