  1. Hi, Emily! I just got home with an appt. with my PCP. I have infection in my Apron. Now its been documented, and soon I will be treating it. Hopefully this is going help me to get my Pannlectomy when the time comes. She told me to come back everytime I get one, and she will have no problem documenting, and treating it. I have been trying to treat at home for so long I never knew to go to the Doctor about it. I guess I was embrassed. Now I am informed. Have a great weekend, and I will keep all your Lapband talk to here from now on.

  2. Haven't heard from you. Are you doing okay?

  3. TDN, did you get your fill? I know you were really upset about your eating day before yesterday. You really shouldn't beat yourself up so much. We all are human. Its the getting back up thats important. How did you do yesterday?

my primary doctor said this ...

Emily, I agree with the other Banders. Most PCPs are very uninformed about WLS. I wouldn't get myself stressed about what he said. Just go to your Psych evaluation, be honest, and deal with it from there. My Psychiatrist was very happy I was researching Lapband surgery. He thought this would be a very good option for me. I haven't had an Official Psych evaluation yet, but I am confident there will be no problems. I have Bipolar Disorder Type II, and Severe Anxiety Disorder. I deal with Mania, Depression, and Anxiety when I am not medicated. I know some of these reasons are why I have been a compulsive overeater in the past but I no longer have those issues under care and meds. Just be honest, Emily. You want to get healthy and you are doing something about it. No Doctor could think that was a bad thing.:bored:

    Would you....

My immediate resounding answer is YES! Yet, two things come to mind. I would check the Surgeons Medical License out. See if he has had any complaints filed against him, any malpractices, etc. I did this myself just yesterday and switched Surgeons. Second, Meet the Surgeon, See what you think about him one on one. Take a list of questions, and Don't be afraid to ask. You are paying him for his services, you don't owe him anything. If all goes well, Switch Surgeons. I definetely would want a Surgeon locally if I could have one. I have to travel almost a hour myself. I would be delighted to have Surgeons of the caliber I have found locally. But its not to be so I will travel. Research, take your time, and be wise in your choice. Its something you will be living with for a long time. :bored:

    Port trouble!

I am preband, and Im sure they are other bandsters you may be able to give you better advice but being the worry wort that I am I wouldn't accept waiting until December 28th. Especially since the Surgeon didn't come in and check you himself. Complications can be avoided by getting on top it early. JMO.
  10. I wasn't worried about celebrating the Holidays, I just didn't want the Holiday season to be consumed with Mommy is healing. Mommy can't lift, Mommy can't hold you, Mommy needs rest. There is plenty of other weeks of the year for this to happen. Doesn't matter anyway. My Surgeons are not doing a Seminar in December at all, and I have already missed the November Seminar. Things happen for a reason. Thanks for the great advice, Looking forward to the Journey ahead!

    What's wrong with Chat now?

Is everyone else having problems getting into chat that I am?
  12. No, I am preband. I am just bailed my First consult yesterday ( I blogged about it, scary). But I am going to a Info Seminar on January 14th. Things happen for a reason I was really concerned about my Band date being during the holidays, and my son's holidays being more about Mommy healing than celebrating the Reason for the Season. I am still going to eat healthy as I can, I dont want a bad food choices to consume my life anymore. Thank you for the Support! I will be here for you, too! Do you have any tips for me?

    Bailed my Lapband Consult!

Bailed my LAP-BAND® Consult! Early this morning I was on the computer and searched for my LAP-BAND® Surgeon's website to print out the patient information packet I needed to take to my appointment. The website had expired on the 14th on November. I sat there looking at the computer dazed. I was going to a Surgeon who had let his website expire??? This was my first Red Flag of the Day. I decided to look up Dr. Hixon and see if there were any complaints filed against his medical license. There were no complaints yet he has 3+ malpractice suit he has paid. This was my Second Red Flag of the Day. The only reason I went to the appointment was my Mom had an appointment at Emory University, and she wanted me to ride with her to Atlanta. I was so NOT going to go. When we got to the Atlanta Medical Center, the area was run down, not well kept, not a hostipal I wanted to go to by choice. This was my Third Red Flag of the Day. I walked into the Building, and was greeted by a Homeless Woman. Sitting with her Grocery Sacks, and empty coffee cup she was collecting change in. She was quite nice and I felt bad that I had nothing to give her. The walls were poorly lit, the carpet were ragged and worn, the walls needs to be scrubbed and painted. When I got the Elevator, I said a Prayer because I truly was not sure we would survive the trip. When I arrived at my Floor, I got off looked for some direction to my Surgeon's office. It was easily found, written in Permanent Black Maker on the wall. 440 to the Left. This was my Fourth Red Flag of the Day. Shaken and traumatized from the trip up. I arrive at the office . I arrived in the office. They said they were just calling me. I looked down. yes I missed a call. They were calling me to tell me Dr. Hixon couldn't see me today he could reschedule for after the holidays. uhhhhhhhhh......... no thanks I will get my own. Note: I did get New Surgeons, I signed up with Emory University Bariartic Center of Atlanta. My Info Seminar is Jan. 14th!~

Hard to believe it's been a year (and what a year)!!!

Happy Bandiversary! You are truly an inspiration to me. I have the same kind of goals before me. Hearing someone say "if you fall off the wagon get right back on." Makes me feel better. It lets me know you don't have to perfect at this to make it work or to see results. Thank you for sharing your story, Looking forward to following your journey. God Bless.

    Day one

Congratulations on your Band Date! Try to stay hydrated and that will help you not feel as hungry. Water, Crystal Light, Propel, Powerade Zero are great choices. Every time you think you are hungry get something to drink. It will really help. I'm preband myself, I have taken off 30 lbs. so far. Good look on your Journey!
