Hi, I'm 40,  a single mom with a 10 year old son, I've been overweight for most of my adult life, recently lost my mom to diabetes and my dad passed 3 years ago, both had weight related health issues and I am following their footsteps, so I decided that I obviously needed help getting the weight off and keeping it off and so, here I am! I met my surgeon in January 2010 and I got the OK from her to start my preparation for surgery. I didn't have a primary care physician and that was my biggest obstacle. Finding a PCP delayed my progress by 3 months. Once I met my pcp, things started to roll. Unfortunately I was a smoker too so I had to quit that before having all the blood work, I did that and by July 13th, I had all my preops completed. I had to wait 6 weeks to see the surgeon again and that was just August 30th, my surgery was scheduled that day for Sept 22nd. Now I wait, anxiously wait! I have no weight loss goal other than to be healthy. If I could go from 267 to a healthy weight which will allow me to live my life and exercise regulary (without knee pain) then I really am not concerned about whether I will look great in a bikini.  So, no specific goal is in mind as far as numbers go. I am yet to bring myself to post pictures, but I am taking them and once the weight begins to come off, I will share all the befores and afters!
