Can you be to overweight for lap band
Ryno replied to catherinecon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I went in for my consult I weight 478. Doctor wanted me down to 450 for Surgery. On the Surgery day I was at 451. I was so scared that they wouldn't do the surgery because I was 1 pound over. They did the surgery, and I'm down in total 112 pounds. It's been about 1.5 years and I'm still losing. Close to the 100 pound mark I joined a gym and have been working my butt off. So yeah don't let large ness fool ya. I had to lose 28 pounds before my surgery. It actually was easy. I limited my plate size, and had Slimfast twice a day. The weight fell off. Surgery went without a hitch and here I am the healthiest I've been in over a decade. -
Currently down 112 pounds! It's hard though, I feel awesome about and yet still conflicted. I started at 478! I would like to get down to 220-250. So being at 366 now, I still have 146 - 116 to go. Really almost to the halfway point and it's been 1.5 years since I was banded. I joined a gym and have been hitting the ellipitcal like a champ. But just really want to reach my goal.
-
Yeah don't sweat it. You'll get there. It definitely takes time and you have to adjust to it. I was lucky in that I felt restriction right after surgery. But Trust me once you start getting fills you'll ntoice the difference.

Thats interesting to know. Luckily my Band has no issues with adding or removing fliud so I'm at least at this point not the 1 out of 1000. lol

So I've been banded over a year now, Since Oct. I have great success at first. Lost right around 100 pounds, but just can't seem to break that 100 pound mark. It's been about 6 months since I've had a new adjustment as the last adjustment I had was down under x-ray, and I appeared to be tight. But I just haven't lost anymore weight.. I'm starting to get more hungry feeling too. I have an appointment today, and I think I'm going to ask to get x-rayed again and see if he can do another adjustment, as I just am feeling more and more hungry, and I just have been in this weird not losing any more weight state for too long. I guess I'm just kinda frustrated, I'm thrilled with my current results, but I has a ton to still lose.

I was banded on____since then I have lost____!
Ryno replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on October 15th 2009, and I have lost 100.8 Pounds! Still a long way to go, but really proud of my results. -
Well some great news. I went to see the Doctor on Monday. I've lost another 3.8 pounds! I finally broke the 100 pound mark. I've lost 100.8 Pounds!!!! Finally one giant milestone reached. Now for the next hundred. Going to go see the nutritionist today, got some great questions to ask her. Doctor also tightened me up another .5cc's so hopefully that will help a bit too. Really needed that bit of goods news to give me a good kick start, and well needed motivation.
-
Yes I called the Nutritionist, and scheduled and appointment for this Wednesday. I've written down everything I have eaten since last Monday, (This was a feat in and of itself!) I've had a couple of badish days, had Dairy Queen and Taco Bell a day last week, and had Olive Garden on yesterday, so I know I'm going to get scorn for that.... But overall, I get healthy. I DO need to really increase my Water intake. I think I've really dropped the ball on that, and that may make a huge difference.
-
Yeah I'm going to give her a call and schedule a meeting too. Been meaning to do that for a while.

Well when tommorrow hits, it will be one year since my Lapband Sugery. Honestly I'm thrilled with the results, but I'm been real bummed out for the last 6 months. I've really been hovering around the 100 pound mark. I'm really struggling to figure out how to break 100 pounds and lose again. I'm been adjusted out the whazoo. So I guess I'm just impressed that it has been a year but know I still have a lot of work to do, and just trying to figure out how to see more results.
-
Gosh it is hard to believe that it has been six months already. I'm currently down 94.4 Pounds. Really looking forward to breaking that first 100 pounds. Honestly this process has been interesting, and it's amazing how little effort it takes to lose the weight, and yet, it is also amazing just how quickly I find myself wanting to fall back into old habits. I am happy that I made this change. I do miss soda though.

Lap-Band AP - Large Band 14cc
Ryno replied to BearSpiritGuide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats the band I have. I think my doc said my band started with 7cc's already in it, and with fills I've added an additional 3.5ccs. I currently have decent restriction and have been losing weight great. -
Being converted to gastric bypass......
Ryno replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it was me, and I had gone a whole year and only lost 18 pounds I would consider the Gastric, but hell, that was when I weighed 478, would have been 460. Your less than 200 pounds, hell my goal is 220! In your case, I think you need to look more into what it up with the band, it seems to me you need a fill. If your current doctor is not working out, you should get a second opinion. I know I thought about losing wieght, and the having the band removed and getting gastic, but I'm having such great results with the band, I wouldn't consider gastric at this point, definitly not without a second or third opinion. -
No weightloss in one month
Ryno replied to amartyn1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keept resolute. The weight will come off. I found that in order to keep my sanity I only weight myself about every 6 weeks. Otherwise I would go nuts weighing myself everyday. -
Awesome!!!! Congrats!

Holy Cow I lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks! :)
Ryno posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in yesterday 12/30 for my second fill. I got 1.5cc's added to me. I originally started this journey in August weighing 478 pounds. I weights 452 on Surgery day of 10/15. Post surgery I weighed 437 Then for my first fill weighed 432 11/18. Now 6 weeks later, and getting my second fill I now weigh 410!!!! 68 pounds I've lost. Honestly, I haven't weight that little since 2004. It's just utterly mindblowing... I lifted a 70 pound bag of Ice Melt last night, and just walked around with it. I am just amazed with my success, and just an in utter awe.. Thank you everyone for your support, and I hope as this new year comes in we all continue to see great success!!! -
I stopped chewing gum. Because I didn't want to risk accidently swallowing it. I do mints now, and just suck on them till they melt.... (I guess MINTS have a higher risk of getting stuck if swallowed.... Meh....)

My wife is scheduled for surgery...concerned
Ryno replied to rej1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being a Man, I understand where your coming from... I had an easy time making this decision to have the Surgery, but man on Sugery Day, I was White as a Ghost with fear. The surgery went fine and I was sore for a good week, and couldn't sleep in a Bed for about 3 weeks. My Recliner was my lifesaver. About how to be helpful, my wife help reminds me about portion control, because I was a HUGE eater. Really about the best thing you can do is just be supportive, and help her with simple things people take for granted like getting Socks and Shoes on and off. (Took me a good week and half before I could tie my shoes. LOL) She's going to be sore, but that pain will go away, and she's going to wonder if she did the right thing, and at least in my case I did, and it helps to have someone to remind you of that. Honestly, just tell her your proud of her, it will mean the world to her. -
BANDED 12-24 and can't sleep
Ryno replied to spadilla4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah totally typical. I could not sleep in a bed comfortably for almost 3 weeks. I had to sleep in my Recliner, which I now think is permanetly goofy from. LOL I now can sleep fine with no issues, and even sleep on my stomach, thank goodness! So yeah give it time, and you will heal from it, but it does take time, and can be very frustrating. -
Holy Cow I lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks! :)
Ryno replied to Ryno's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really all I have cut out is Breads and Rice, and Fast food. Instead of eating 3 plates of dinner I'm down to a small portion, about a 3/4 - 1 cup worths. As for Exercise, I walk at work about 15 minutes M-F, and trying to be active as much as possible but Ice and Snow has been slowing me down a ton. (Usually walk outside) -
I was Banded on Oct 15th. Since pre-op and post 'm down 47 pounds (Last Weight in was on Sept 18th.) I've had one fill on the 9/18, and currently do not fill any restriction, my next scheduled fill is 12/30. Really looking forward to the fill. I don't know if I've lost or gained weight since I only weight myself during fills or checkups, but people have said that I'm becoming thinner everyday. Keep up the good work everyone, and try to enjoy the Holidays!!!!

I've been doing fantastic since being banded. But something came over me this morning, and I got a Omellett and Hasbrowns. I ate it all.... Way more than a cups worth. It took me over an hour and a half to eat it, but I ate the whole thing.... I get my second fill on the 30th, and I'm kinda upset with myself for splurging like I did this morning.... I have been strong, and I cracked this morning.... Have I hurt myself, I feel fine, acutally I feel full. I guess I'm just mad at myself for letting an old habit take over.... Darnit....

What happens when we overeat?
Ryno replied to Ryno's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah normally when I eat, my healthy portions it usually takes about 30 minutes. Today I just let myself go... I do feel horible about the whole thing..... -

Thank you... I have been thrilled with my results thus far. Also, not your fault, but I guess I should explain, that I am a Happily married MAN, not a GIRL. ;P LOL Thank you. I did stumble hard this morning, but with three weeks till my next fill, it's this stumbles that help you to regain the balance lost. I've recommitted myself. I guess I just hate the fact that I allowed myself to stumble. With each bite I was like "You need to stop", and the old me was like, "FINISH THE PLATE!" I know better, and the fact that I ignored the new me just threw me for a loop. But thank you for the high praise, and confidence. It really helps!!!!
