Wow, Jengo825! I'm shocked. I had no idea some were not doing the band. I don't have pain, just the slimming and not being able to lay down at night. But it is very hard to deal with. It seems like everything in my life has to be worked around the band and when I can eat or drink. Thank you so much for your imput!

WowThank you for the quick response. I've had issues since I got the band. Have had unfills to sleep and still have issues, just in small portions. But an unfill means a gain of 30 lbs. SO frustrating. SO tired of dealing with it. I'm afraid I won't be committed to dieting and have been told you have to diet to get rid of the weight with the sleeve. If I could stick with dieting I wouldn't be in this shape. Thanks again for your imput. Better info for me to consider.

Chris- Now that it's been a while, how do you feel about the sleeve? I've had all the these night cough and slimming issues since I had the band. Wondering if I should do something else?

I've even had an unfill and put on a lot of weight trying to get some sleep. I don't think this is normal either, but can't seem to find any answers either.

Two years without a fill but having really bad reflex
Jill 1821 replied to Stephsw827's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Steph-- I've had reflux problems since I got my band. Don't eat or drink anything at least 2 hrs before bed and try to do longer than that and I still will wake up. My dr does a tacking around the band so there is no way mine can slip. He's had no patents that have ever had slips. I don't know why this happens for me. I go several nights with nothing then may have 3 weeks that it's ever night. Very strange and aggravating. My dr just wants to do an unfill if I tell him. I don't want to put weight back on! I always have that yuk taste in the morning and sometimes have to get it up-- that horrible bile stuff. I wish I had the answer. Perhaps since you haven't been in so long you could find another dr to take your case. But I do think the weather and stress affects my band. May sound strange but I can tell when a low front and high front comes through. Congrats on your marriage and good luck. I feel for you : ( Jill -
I've had my band for over 3 years and STILL have the mucus and sliming issue. It wakes me up at night just coming out. I have to change gowns and the bed. I'm so tired of it. I do not over eat or eat things I'm not supposed to . I can't find a reason for this. Any advice from anyone at all is appreciated.

Throwing Up every Night..Please Help
Jill 1821 replied to Maggie63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cerrin, After having the same problem--- throwing up repeatedly all night long, even sitting up in a chair-- I went back to my lap band dr. He was VERY concerned! They took out .5cc's and I feel like a new person. I think with allergy season starting early this year contributed to it and I had started an exercise program that could have contributed. But I was totally miserable, and that solved my problem. I think I'll have to have a refill later, but for now I need this now. Hope this helps! Good Luck, Jill -
Throwing Up every Night..Please Help
Jill 1821 replied to Maggie63's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
see that these are older posts, but can anyone update? I had surgery 2 yrs ago and have started having AR the last few monthes. Not really throwing up but having it wake me several hrs each night and having to sit up and coughing for 2 hrs to get it out of my lungs. I am not too tight ( don't think). I'm eating a lot and even working really hard on maintaining. gaining a few pounds is easy. (that;s why I don't think it is too tight) I was actually contimplating having another small fill. I haven't had one in 9 monthes. Anyone have ideas as to what to do? -
Big fill - 1.5CC for total of 7.75CC but no different restriction...
Jill 1821 replied to claire0823's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just wanted to update those who wrote to me- and thanks by the way... The dr says my food journal look good, even a little under calories. So now we are going to look into my thyroid and have it checked. I know I am eating what I am told, I am not cheating! So for anyone else out there with this problem, there could be a secondary problem. My thyroid is very low. Going to try meds for that. Hope that is the answer. -

Claire-- I've only lost 31 lbs in 6 mo. my loss is very slow and i also have gotten very discouraged. I have talked with my nurse and have an appt for tomorrow to sit down and talk to them about my concerns. (Not just in and out with a fill) I have my food log that I am taking in as well. I have 7.5 cc in a 14 cc band. I can eat about anything I want. still having to use all willpower. Hopefully they will help. But you have to have your medical team behind you. Mine have beenn good to work with me. good luck. -
Does anyone have problems with eating lunch?? When I am at work I have a lot of problems eating and keeping it down. I can take 2 or 3 bites and know I'm going to be sick. Then I can eat at home and everything is fine. Anyone experience this? Is it stress or what? Jill

Michelle-- Nobody can understand the physical or emotional "stuff" the obese deal with. My husband has never had a weight problem and doesn't understand either, yet is very supportive. He never complained about my weight, but could see how it was hurting me and my self esteem. I was banded in July and have lost 31 lbs. It has been slow, but I'm working through it. There will be a lot of food and non-food issues that you may be facing. But keep this great attitude. I truely feel like God brought lapband to me. It is my last hope. It is the best thing I have done. I wish you luck!

My doctor says that bread is your friend when you are feeling hungry or are needing a fill. Bread fills you up and keeps us from eating too much. Sounds like you are on track, just thought that might help. (I try to stay around 1,000 to 1200 calories myself. Once fills start helping that is easier. Good luck!

Wanting sweets and chips has not changed for me. I stil have to use willpower for that. My dr. says that after my meals that the last two bites can be whatever I want. So that helps to know that it is ok to have a bit of brownies or cheesecake. My loss has been slow, but am keeping a food log to take in to see if my nurses can help me figure out what I'm doing to improve or fill fuller for a longer period of time. Just don't give up. Keep trying different strategies until you find what works. You didn't say how many fills you've had. Maybe you just haven't had enough yet??

how many fills to get to your sweet spot?
Jill 1821 replied to smitten kitten's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My daughter is at the year mark and has just reached her spot. She has lost slowly and has started loosing laster without needing a lot of willpower. I am at 5 months since surgery and have had several fills (small-.3 or so). I have lost 30 lbs. I've gotten discouraged - but my dr is cautious. Trying to be patient. -
Bonnie_Lass and Happy 2 Lose -Good answer here! I too have had very slow loss. It is very discouraging. My dr. gives .2 or .3 cc fills. I have gotten tired of the slow progress and am going to talk to them next time I'm in. My stomach is noisey to and I am hungry. I use a lot of willpower!!! I've only lost 31 in 5 mo. So you are not alone, We have to keep working until we find the right fill amount. Good Luck! This forum is a great help! Thanks to all of you who are always willing to help.

I've done everything the blogger before me has said. But when you are still hungry we are going to eat! If I could do it with willpower I wouldn't need surgery. My loss has been very slow- 30 lbs in 5 monthes. I'm going to talk to my surgeon on the next appt. I think he is being too conservative with fills. I'm hungry the next day after a fill. He is putting in 2 and 3 cc's at a time. Don't give up and have a heart to heart with your dr. Good Luck.

Good luck! My loss has been very slow. 5 mo. and only 30 lbs. I'm very frustrated too. But hang in there. I'm with you.

Jill 1821 replied to Jill 1821's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks-- I think you're right about getting moving. I need to plan for exercise time. That may be the key. -
I had surgery on July 14th. so it has been 3 1/2 mo. I have only lost 15 lbs. My calorie count if staying from 150, right after a fill to 800-900 before a fill. Anyone else going slow. I'm so discouraged and frustrated. Anyone have advice??
