    My band slams shut!!!!

OMG I'm so glad I read this thread as a mother of 4 boys - 22, 21, 18 & 14 and a husband who has a broken foot and off work for 8 weeks. Maybe the STRESS level in my house is causing the band issue. I've been I guess you would call it restricted or stuck. Seems like nothing is going down easy. I've been trying to baby it by yogurt, soups, hot drinks, cold drinks, nothing seem to be helping. One bite and there it goes burning in throat and feeling full. Maybe being back to work after a long frustrating weekend will release the feeling of being restricted. Thanks for posting. Try to have a stress free work week. I know I'm going to try.

    Gas issue

It's a touchy subject, but I was wondering if anyone else has suffered from bloating and gas issues. I'm 11 months out from surgery (8/26/09) and for the past week or so no matter what i eat i seem to have nasty smelly gas and am very bloated. Any ideas of what I can do? It is rather embarassing having this problem. Seems to come on more at night. Help!

    Gas issue

I was thinking about getting some of those Gas-X actually just this morning. Don't know guess I'll just wait it out. Thanks
  4. I'm glad to see your post too -- Ilovebeagles -- I was also banded Aug. 09. I lost pretty much weight in the beginning by November had had lost 47 to 50 pounds. I've been at a stand still all this time. Getting a little frustrated. The doctor seems to think I'm doing good. Not to worry everyone hits a plataeu -- This long though. Arrgh:cursing: I had another fill today and we'll see what happens now. I've been trying to walk ever night about 40 mins hoping this will kick things in gear. Wish me luck this fill will be it.

    After Fill Question...

Hi, I hicup, burp whatever you want to call it after I eat all the time. It let's me know I done eating.
  6. Hi, was banded on 8/26/09 -- 3 fills now @ 1.5 cc each time. I was just filled on 11/27/09. I'm still not feeling restriction. I get full but I still can eat everything just not hugh portions. I'm still losing weight down 43lbs. Feeling good just wondering when will I hit my "sweet spot?" Anyone else having this problem?

    Still not feeling restricted

Dr. says samething not to get discouraged, which I'm not, trust me I'm happy with the 43lbs down. Just everyone talks about this "sweet spot" and how they feel, not that I want to get stuck, or throw up by all means, I just thought maybe I'm doing something wrong, but obviously not with the weight loss I've already had. I guess I was just feeling a little down and had to post my feelings. Thanks for helping.
  8. I feel the same way I've lost 40 pounds and have dropped from size 22 to size 16. I also drift to the plus sizes and have to pull myself back to the smaller sizes. I'm more comfortable in my big baggy shirts and pants I want to hide behind my clothes. My sons, 21, 20, 17 & 14 keep telling me to buy new clothes, "it's time mom." Then when I did I said there is no way I can fit in a 16 I haven't seen that size in a long time and here I am wearing them. My shirts from 2xl to 3xl now a comfortable xl. It is very hard to get use to being smaller. I look in the mirror and still see this "fat mom" in there. That's one of those mental things I have to get over. I'm working on it. Everyone says, wow you look great, they call me skinny, but on the inside I still feel "fat." and from all the postings I guess that is a normal feeling. I just wish it would go away, so when I look into that mirror I see that "skinny mom." Wow it's so nice to know you're not crazy when you read these postings and everyone feels the same way you do. I love reading them and knowing I'm not a freak or going crazy. Others really do feel the way I do. Hang in there everyone we're doing this and it's great.
  9. LAP-BAND® 8-26-09 and 4Kiddosmom, I also was banded on 8-26-09 to date have had 2 fills 1.5 cc each. I have not experienced any restriction also. I have lost 40 pounds to date. But in the last couple weeks I've only lost 1/2 to 1 pound a week. I get very depressed over this and I know as my doctor puts it "you're in a marathon you will finish but there will be hurdles before you finish." I understand that but it still gets very frustrating. I am able to eat breads, rice and pasta nothing gets stuck (thankfully) I eat smaller portions but I sometimes feel like I stop even though I feel like I could eat more. Maybe the next fill will be my "sweet spot." (11/27/09) We've just got to hang in there and know the weight is going to start dropping again. And we will finish the race!:tt2:
  10. I don't know why it happens, but it does. I was a 7w and now 6m. I actually noticed the weight loss first in my shoes, go figure.

    Nexium

Been Nexium free since 8/26/09 (date of procedure). I was on Nexium for years. I was also afraid of not taking it after surgery, but haven't had anything no Gerd or reflux.
  12. SkinnyOompa

    Sneezes?

No sneezes either, my thing is like a hiccup/burping. Embarassing!
  13. SkinnyOompa

    Depressed?

I think you are inside my head. Every posting I read I've had the same thoughts. Scary. But as my dr. said "you're running a marathon, and there are going to be alot of hurdles, but 'you will finish." I'm assuming the depression, anxiety, being peeved off at everyone is a HUGH "HURDLE" this too we shall overcome. Hang in there fellow bandsters!! WE ARE NOT ALONE!!!

    Depressed?

WOW I love this site. I have been feeling the same way. I thought it was just me. I've been depressed a few times about a 1 week at a time. Just quit talking and feel like I'm in slow mode. I'm 9 weeks out 36lbs down and feel like I'm all alone. I do have great support at home and even at work. But it's nice to get on line and go to new postings and see you're not crazy after all --- there are others out there having the same feelings. Thanks for sharing and we'll all get out of this soon. Actually just emailing this I'm feeling better already.
  15. Hi Pookiemp --- I had surgery on 8/26/09 -- have had two fills 10/6 & 10/30.. I don't think I've had restriction like it should be. I'm eating still, I get full after eating, for example today I had a bowl (1 cup) of chili and some oyster crackers. I was about half way through the chili and stopped. I sat for a while talking at lunch and then I felt sick at my stomach, is this restriction? If so it was horrible. Other than that I'm able to eat still. I'm still new at this restriction feeling and not sure if I'm having it or not. Everything goes down fine. Nothing gets stuck. I just get full and then stop eating. Any advice would be appreciated.
  16. Hi everyone --- I was banded on 8/26/09 had my first fill on 10/2/09 -- I've only had slight restriction since then. I'm not even sure it was restriction. I would eat and then 1/2 hour or so I would fill yucky. Anyway, went to dr. this morning and had my second fill (another 1.5cc) -- not that I want to fill restriction but hoping too, if that makes since. Have been losing weight without restriction, but I think I need that xtra boost to lose more. I'm a little scarred hearing how you will feel and this sliming issue. I'm on liquids for 3 days then pureed. Wish me luck.
  17. Hi, my name is Donna, I've been married for 23 years, I'm a mother of 4 boys, 21, 20, 17, 13. I never had to worry about my weight growing up, never had to diet. When I got married at 21 I only weighed 105lbs. Then they babies started coming, and the weight started going up. I never went over 200lbs with any of my pregancies. Then the next thing you know I was creeping up on the 200lb mark. When I went over 200lbs, I just gave up. I figured I'm not that bad looking, just will buy bigger sizes and look my best. Then it hit, knee problems (4 surgeries), sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and had a cardiac ablation last year. After cardiac ablation, my heart was doing much better. Was released from cardiologist. Until June 2009, was put back on meds for heart rate. He told me I had to lose the weight. He made appointment for me to see a weight loss surgeon and then it all started early June 2009. Went through all the pre-surgery classes, was approved by insurance (they paid) and had surgery on August 26, 2009. Was 228 and to date have lost 36lbs. 192lbs and counting down. I joined LBT for support. I have been going on LBT since surgery and have been informed on alot of different issues I've and and it's nice to know others have had the same problem and we can now Band together. Thanks for all the support. :cursing: Sorry so long, but wasn't really sure what to post. Will keep next posts short. :cursing: Hope to post soon.
  18. Hi, I'm 9 weeks post-op. I've lost 36 lbs so far. I was wondering what else can I drink? I've done crystal lite with water, water, and more water. Is there anything else out there that can count as a water or maybe just have a couple of ounces. Feeling like I just need a different taste.

    1st day post op- OUCH!

Hi everyone, I'm new to posting threads. I've been logging on for a while and reading all the great postings, but I've noticed that some bandsters have a weight tracker (ticker) or something like that on their postings. I was wondering does anyone know how I can get that on my postings too. I've been banded since 8/26/09 and have lost 36 lbs. Thanks in advance. SkinnyOompa:smile2:
