Hey Bee glad to hear your going well......wow you have been strong with only a spoon full of sweets.....I wish I was that strong. I am finding now 4 months out I can eat a more decent amount and at first I was worried but now I am happy about it. Because I had the band first I was never going to get the first time sleevers teeny stomach but I am on about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per meal now so thats what they expected me to be at. I am down 25kg's now so happy with the results......I know if I cut out the snacking and drinking when I go out on weekends I would be better off but I can't give up everything I need to be more active as when I am I am not thinking about food but I do have to remind myself to eat when I am busy. When I am busy, I am not hungry. Night time is my worst time I need to practice my smaller bite sizes more as I tend not to take the tiny bites you are supposed to.....think thats because I forget?? When I had the band you had to take teeny mouthfulls or it would hurt when it got stuck but with the sleeve you don't have that feeling (well at least I don't) so I need to be stricter on myself. @ No I didn't see that show last night which is a shame....do you know what it was called? Thanks for the info on the resume's.....I have found some templates but I don't know what to write and how to write it all. I start one then give up because it gets too hard. I have so many years of work history but it was so long ago that I don't have contact numbers or references. When I resigned from Telstra they didn't even give me anything like a reference etc so I don't even know who to put down as a contact referee?? It all seems so hard -

Ok so it must be Chris their surgeon that does not use a drainage tube....wonder why?? The other surgeons in the lap surgery group both do the drainage tube every surgery and they all operate together...there is always 2 of them doing any 1 surgery.....The other 2 are founding surgeons of the group and have been running the place for years and Chris joined them more recently......guess he just has a different way of doing it. @@nerms wow thats gone so fast.......so it's 1 month till surgery?? Hope works going ok Chez and your not getting too worn out........I so want to start working again but it's been so long for me because I have been a stay at home mum for a long time so its so hard to even begin to try to get back into the work force. I wouldn't even know how to write a resume I need to do something though to keep me busy.....and not gonna lie I need the money too!!!! -

Hey Chez.....glad you coped ok with work this last week. 16kg's in 5 weeks is AMAZING!!!!!!!! WOW That averages out to just over 3kg per week if I worked that out right lol I am not losing a lot on the scales just bouncing around down a kilo then not but I can feel it in my clothes so I am not so focused on the scales at the moment....although its so hard when people keep asking how much have you lost all the time. Mostly only my family know but there is one person in particular that continually asks me like every time I talk to her and it is doing my head in......Maybe I am just not going to tell her anymore maybe I am just gonna tell her I am not hopping on the scales anymore. Because it makes me think about how I haven't lost much in that past week or whatever and it starts to play with my mind. Anyway my friend that went in for her sleeve is good she came home today so was in 5 days. She didn't have a drain tube in her stomach.....who else told me that they didn't have one....was it you Chez or was it Bee?? She had the same surgeon as Bee so it will be interesting to see. She had bad pains in her stomach on day 2 so they made her drink stuff and gave her a ct scan and all was fine. I am sure I will hear more about it when she had recovered a bit and it will make more sense with what she is telling me when she is off the pethadene Hows everyone this weekend -

It sure does take it out of you and you are back after only a couple of weeks so you are going well. Friend of mine recently decided to go and get the sleeve done and she is getting done today!!!! She knows of a couple of people that have it and just decided a few months ago that was it she was getting it done. No mucking around hey.....took me years to decide just to have the band LOL I am all nervous and excited for her at the same time....it brings it all back to you when someone else is getting done -

Ooooo one of my favorite topics FURBABIES!!!! @@nerms I hope you find that perfect job......don't give up you will find the job thats just for you. Hows the grooming course going?? One of my bf's is a fantastic groomer and she does all of my babies. She can't keep up with all the work and has to turn new clients away now. So sorry to hear about your loss.....what an absolutely gorgeous baby she was....I am sure she is still around you all the time @....my son was to get a rescue Malamute when he moves out of home.....he just loves them I love Cockerspaniel cross Poodle they are gorgeous but they can be fairly active......Have you ever considered a Cavoodle?? They are such a great lap dog and love to go with you or just sit on the couch with you, and if you get one from a good breeder that breeds with a Toy Poodle you should get a small lap dog. I may be biased.... but I love em To me they are the perfect lapdog and family pet I don't know of any breeders though?? I always get asked as I had a few litters years ago but I don't know any that I would know to recommend.....all I can say is stay away from pet shops because you may be supporting puppy farmers or could get a pup with loads of health problems I used to breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and then Cavoodles (Cavalier cross toy poodle) (only as a hobby and just had a couple of litters) They are 2 of my favorite breeds....but I also have a rescue Golden Retriever and they are just amazing. When Hubby and I bought our first house our first baby was the furry kind.....Golden retriever. He was amazing but sadly left us at age 11 from a nose tumour We now own 1 Golden Retriever (we are unsure of her age but rescued her from a horrible registered breeder that was going to put her to sleep because she could no longer breed with her or show her grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ) We also own a teeny tiny red toy poodle and a Cavoodle. So we have 3 in total We lost our Ruby Cavalier only 6 weeks ago to old age.....she was my little sweetheart. All our furbabies are part of our family....we love them sooooo much. Oh and my daughter has Ferrets......ok strange i know and they do stink until they are desexed but boy are they cute and so gentle.......she hand raised them and they are too cute -

Cath well done on starting the Optifast.....you sound like you will do this stage easy It is so great to have this little community of people that are all dealing with the same thing. We will always need support maybe not all the time, but the sleeve is only a tool and we still have to get through the mental side of things that we have dealt with most or all of our lives as to keeping on track. I am still bad for head hunger and need to overcome that part. Bee well done on your weight loss you are smashing this. Yep I will let you know how I go Chez......I do remember this after the band but this has happened later than what it did with that and more hair loss.....Lucky for me I have lots of hair. My daughter is training to be a hairdresser and she said not to worry about it that even though its a little thinner it still looks fine and you can't tell that I am losing it at this stage....she was like "mum you haven't got any bald spots so it's all good" Chez I can't see your face pics???? There is nothing there???? -

Thanks so much Nerms......was starting to freak right out for a bit there. I do remember losing hair when I got the lap band but not as much as this. I have always had such a lot of hair and thick hair but it's getting thinner which isn't the end of the world I know, but I was starting to think that there might have been something wrong with me. Thanks so much for posting that Nerms it all makes sense now. ???? I already take Iron sup's but I don't want to become hairy macleary everywhere else so I will just see how I go and see what my next blood test results say about my Vitamin levels. -

Anyone heard about the reason for hair loss after getting the sleeve?? I am just starting to get a little stressed as I am losing so much hair....I have always had a lot of hair and have always lost a lot too but the amount I am losing is getting more and more and it's starting to freak me out. Any ideas on what I could take or what I am lacking in that may be making this happen?? -

@@Mick Way to go still going strong with the weight loss thats brilliant!!!!! So glad to hear from you and that you are going well. I can imagine how hard it would be to do it full time all the time and going out etc....can you maybe eat a lean low carb meal and drink low carb beer every now and then on special occasions?? I think that spirits are low carb too (whisky vodka etc) its what you put with them that matters....maybe soda Water or coke zero? Just some ideas not sure if they help or not You are doing so well keep strong!!! @@nerms you are so right scales are not a great idea to do all the time....its too tempting to get on them too often. I know our bodies fluctuate and carry Fluid etc.....its always happened to me so I shouldn't be surprised. 1kg is nothing in fluctuation is it....and there is no way I could have eaten enough to put on 1kg in 2 days haha....my tummy wouldn't fit it in LOLs Nerms you just put things back into perspective for me.....thanks soooo much I really needed to hear that. Sometimes you just let little things get to you and you doubt yourself. I love this forum you guys are a great Support!!!! @ Start the countdown only 30 days.....that time will Fly!!!!!!! It's so normal to be nervous and excited.....I remember that feeling I hope everything is ok with all of your specialist appointments and that you are going well and feeling good. Hey Chez well done on your 10 k g's thats great and so is losing the gast pains......that is usually around the 2 week mark but can come and go still sometimes but the worst is over for you now thank goodness. ......hopped on the scales and I am back up 1kg so "not happy jan" right now.....probs Fluid as I am pre tom but just annoying and I hate the scales lol In other news I know this sounds funny to most probably, but when I get in to drive hubbys car (big 4wd) my stomach used to be pressed up against the steering wheel and I couldn't put the seat back any further or I couldn't reach the pedals haha (yep I am blessed with ducks disease with my ass that close to the ground) Oh to be taller but that will never happen....anyway...... when I hopped in it this morning to take my daughter to school i noticed something strange......I had a gap in between my stomach and the steering wheel....now thats a win for me YAY Oh and no i wasn't cheating because I could touch the pedals so the seat was in the same position LOL How is everyone it's been a little quiet here lately?? Hope everyone is going well -

@@Bee Bloody Fantastic Well Done!!!! you are shrinking before everyone's eyes and it's so good when you get told....just makes you feel better I reckon @@nerms Well Done for getting straight back on the wagon....we all have bad days I have many and still, but the great thing about the sleeve is I can't physically pig out like I used to so that really helps.....and I figure I am doing this the realistic way not the robotic way and just try to eat well most of the time but don't punish myself for having a treat or a drink every now and then.....Speaking of drinks......never again LOLS Feeling like shite thismorning after only 4 scotches....can't remember all the conversations I was having so It really hit me hard. Probs caus I can't eat much so I really need to remember 1 glass of Water in between each and every drink Im so thirsty this morning but I can't fit fluids in fast like I used to so thats a killer I think I just need a teaspoon of HTFU haha Im such a sook! @Chez......those gas pains are horrid aren't they They will start improving soon....almost 2 weeks out now YAY I need to do so much today but I think I am gonna hit the couch and watch some movies..... -

Hey Nerms You might find it a bit hard getting up from low on the floor with just a mattress. Have you got a recliner chair?? I slept on a recliner for a few weeks after my surgery as I couldn't lay flat and it supported me. I didn't have one because my old one broke but I got one from eBay and it was fantastic for me. Not sure how comfortable a blow up mattress will be for you?? Maybe look on eBay or gumtree for a bed base near you or a recliner?? -

Hi All.....How was everyone's long weekend?? Short week this week YAY We got heaps done around the house and got a skip in to remove the old shed so at least we did something productive but I would have rather been out on the boat LOL Still got a lot to do but it's great when you can start to see progress.....helps to keep you motivated @@nerms You Go Girl we sure are gonna kick 2014's ass!!!!!! Not long to go now the time will fly by....and as for the pain...yes is uncomfortable but they have pain relief for that so my advice is USE IT....dont be shy in asking for it. My preadmin nurse said to me......if you are in pain, you shouldn't be. They have meds for that so if you are then tell them and they will fix it.....so true and I did this time and it all helped. Mind you I did have an idea of what to expect having had the band before and many operations after that to correct things so I think that all helped me to know what to expect and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Yeah it's not all rainbows and lollipops, but its a small price to pay for what you get in return I think anyway @@Bee I hear ya about the arms......them and the boobs haha. I have never lost weight in my boobs....haev always been big busted but now I feel like they are used tea bags Once I lose all my weight gonna have to get that fixed LOL Yeah got tuck shop lady arms happening so will just do some light weights but hey, I am 41, have had 3 kids by c section and breast fed them all so saggy skin is a part of life for me I'm afraid.......sorry peeps for the tmi About the pain in your largest wound.....I was told that I would have pain in that for the longest and when I did too much I felt it there thats for sure. They told me that my stomach muscles were stitched to my stomach to prevent a hernia in the site....apparently its what they do at lap surgery......so they told me I will feel twinges and times of it being uncomfortable for some time....(from memory 6 to 8 weeks but you could have to check with the nurse) Just be careful about putting too much strain on it, you don't want to end up with problems. If you are concerned about the pain just call them they will talk to you about it. I know I am a lot more paranoid than most because of my weight loss surgery history, but nothing is worth stuffing it up believe me. I didn't ask about swimming and I love to swim....should have asked. I just know Ray said walking, gentle cycling and light weights sometimes but most important to just keep active. He said at this stage exercise wont add a lot to the weight loss (????) it will just help with fitness. I guess the insides take longer to heal even though I feel like I haven't had anything done at all now. -
