  1. I want a Wii Fit! I guess it includes a scale in the balance board, although I'd like to turn off the part that informs you that you're "morbidly obese" or what have you.
  2. Do all of you have scales at home? How often do you weigh yourselves? I have avoided scales like the plague for years - judging my weight by my dress size. I'm thinking maybe it's time for me to actually buy one.
  3. I'm on day 7 of my pre-op diet. It's not liquid (unless you count the 64 ounces of water - I'm moving my office to the bathroom), but still not easy. The rumbling tummy has calmed down, but the cravings are strong with this one. I find myself questioning how perfect I need to be. I need to find a way to get beyond that, and I'm not sure how.
  4. Anne - Luckily, they don't happen very often and my boss is aware of what I'm doing (only 3 at work do). Yesterday, I only ate lunch all day and tried to choose carefully. I am actually taking the whole week following my surgery off, so that helps with the liquid phase. Not sure what I'll do if one happens the following week. Potentially - lie and say I can't go - or actually give an honest reason. Not sure I like either option.
  5. Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow. I'm so glad we finally reached October. I'm looking forward to hearing from everyone as we reach the other side and the new starts to our lives! Mine is going pretty well. A couple of small slips, and a business lunch I couldn't avoid, but otherwise I am on track and ready to go. :cursing:
  6. I'm really sorry it's happened to you. Two years ago last month, I was due to be banded. A week before my surgery they did some blood work and discovered I was severely anemic. It has taken a hysterectomy and two years of Iron therapy, but I'm finally back on track. It was frustrating, but I decided to look at it this way: it is better to go into this new phase of my life healthy. Good luck. Get healthy and get going.
  7. Mine is: 9-11 ounces of lean protein 2 servings of fruit 2 servings of vegetables 64 oz of water every day Free foods are sugar-free popsicles and jello
  8. I survived the evening out with my family. I had a small chicken breast and a small salad and tons of iced tea. I admit I did have 2 onion rings, but made them promise not to give me any more even if I asked. They're actually being very supportive - my brother & his family have given up carbonated beverages with me. Too bad the football team we were rooting for didn't survive.
  9. So what happens to this thread as of Wednesday? Some of us (not me) will be "on the other side." How exciting is that! Day 2 on the pre-op diet here. Man alive am I hungry! Someone who has been on theirs for a while tell me the cravings and rumbling tummy will get better - lie if you have to. I'm holding off eating today as much as possible. I'm supposed to go out with family tonight and am hoarding all of my Proteins and veggies for then. I probably should have said no, but I want to feel normal, and normal for me is Saturday football with my family.

Another couple of questions if anyone out there can answer: What time was your surgery? What time did they discharge you? I have an appt. the day before surgery with Dr. O'Byrne in the afternoon. I'm trying to decide whether it is worth it to stay the night before in I.F. instead of driving back & forth.
  11. At least they made my mother wait in the other room while they forced me on the scale - my size 8 mother who complained the entire way to the doctor's office about the extra 5 pounds left over from her Alaskan cruise she still needs to lose . Talk to me when it's 105, mother! Shanna234 - best of luck to you.

Thanks memom. You've been among the banded for coming up on two months now. Wow. Hope everything is going well for you.
  13. Yeah, I'm pretty excited, nervous and scared. I hit disgusted yesterday when I got on the scale and saw the results of my two week long "last meal" binge.
  14. Renita - My understanding is that the high Protein, low fat & carb diet before the surgery is to shrink the liver which lays over the top part of the stomach. I started mine last night. I've warned the one person I work with who knows I'm having it done that I may be a complete bear the next two weeks. I should warn my daughter, too.
  15. I'm still on for October 9th - two weeks from today. Went to the office today and got the pre-op diet. It won't be easy, but I'll survive and at least it's not all liquid. 9-11 ounces of lean protein/day 2 servings of fruit 2 servings of veggies 64 ounces of Water sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, and bouillion are free foods. Here we go!

Don't know if you're all still out there, but I went back to IF today and got the pre-op diet information. 9-11 ounces of lean Protein each day 2 servings of fruit 2 servings of vegetables (no corn or peas) 64 ounces of Water Can have a few "free" foods: sugar free Jello sugar free popsicles bouillion I hate popsicles, but they and jello may become my best friends over the next two weeks. They made me stand on a scale again - I have definitely been experiencing "last meal" syndrome - every meal was "this will be the last time I can eat XXX for a long time..." - and I put on 4 lbs. Ah well. Rose - Hope your classes are going well.
  17. Cheryl - Go visit the Before & After pictures thread. Yes, there is some negative out there - this isn't an easy step - but those pictures prove that it can work if you work it. Good luck with the rest of the testing. I'm a little nervous because I don't see my surgeon again until the day before the surgery. I'm really hoping all goes well.
  18. Well, I guess I know what I'm going shopping for while my daughter is at dance tonight. We just got a B B & B recently. This will give me a good excuse to check them out. Thanks for the recipes.
  19. From the looks of things I had better be on the lookout for a good deal on a blender sometime soon. The pre-op diet my program uses isn't all liquid, but is after for a while.
  20. I find myself doing the same thing. I know I'm doing it, and I know I shouldn't, but do it anyway. I'd really like to go into my next appointment (for the pre-op diet info on the 25th) not weighing more than I did at the band class they made us take. It's not going to happen at this rate!
  21. I'm scheduled for October 9th. I go see the surgeon again on the 8th, and then surgery on the 9th. It would have been sooner, but I ended up with laryngitis and so they scheduled me a little further out than usual. I go see the dietician about the pre-op diet on the 25th, and am ready to go! This has been a long road for me. I was originally scheduled for September 2006. Yep, 2006. A week before surgery they discovered I was severely anemic and cancelled. Two years, one hysterectomy, and a metric ton of Iron pills later, I am on my way again. Fingers Crossed.

Rose - I knew some insurance companies required it. Sorry you're facing a delay. I go back to IF on Thurs., Sept. 25th to meet the dietician about the pre-op diet. I'm really crossing my fingers that the laryngitis is gone by then, or I face having to reschedule the surgery. Keep in touch. Hope the 6 months of classes go well. Karen

Morning Rose - No appt with the dietician yet about the pre-op diet. I expect to start it in mid-September - I think you're supposed to be on it for two weeks prior. Definitely let me know when you get a date set. Hope it's soon.

Well, it won't be happening as soon as I had hoped, but I do have a date set. I met with Dr. O'Byrne. He seems nice enough. Because of the laryngitis, he wants me to wait a few weeks and then he is gone for a couple of weeks. I am scheduled for October 9th. At least I have a date set!

Morning MaRosie - Yes, that was me who spoke with your daughter. The psychologist just told me as I was leaving that there wouldn't be any problem from her end. My appt with the surgeon ended up rescheduled for Monday. Unfortunately, I've come down with a case of laryngitis. I'm sure they won't even think of scheduling me until it is cleared up, so I'll keep trudging away and hopefully it will happen soon. Good luck to you - hope they get you a date soon. Karen
