  1. I had same thing - it was like someone was ripping my left shoulder off for 2 days. I did some stretches one morning because it woke me up at 5am and then later that day I burped big time (first time since surgery) and it went completely away! I too thought something was wrong but remembered the gas thing and now I am glad to see others experienced it too. It is so great to come here and get this kind of support and feedback without having to drive your doctor and nurses nuts with endless phone calls :scared2: Good luck to all and hope those pains go away very soon!

    10 Days Post-Op - Blended Diet

Well it has been 10 days since Post-Op. I stopped taking liquid pain meds and moved on to Blended Diet. Soreness has drastically reduced - wore jeans yesterday and that was a little uncomfortable but okay. No more Levonox shots, yeah! (blood thinners). I had gas pains in my left shoulder and that really was painful - it last 2 days and then I burped and pain all gone! What a relief. I am glad to start the blended diet since I am going back to work tomorrow. However, I hope blended diet really helps with staying full longer. Eating something every two hours is very inconvenient and really does not help me with wanting to cheat because I am hungry all the time. Ugh... I know, Bandster Hell. I feel no restriction so that does not help either. But, sticking to the rules. I need to get the water thing down and get enough in a day. I used to drink 100 ounces a day no problem but I drank all day long even at meals. So I have to adjust that habbit. I lost 10 pounds during liquid diet but have the feeling it will be maintained due to taking in more calories with Blended Diet. I have Post-Op Doc appointment on Tuesday so will have lots of questions then  So if anyone has tips on surviving the Blended Diet and always being hungry, please share

    First Week - Liquid Diet

I was given liquid Hydrocodone and it worked great. I took it at night. It has been 10 days since surgery and I am not feeling sore except where port is but have not taken pain meds since 3 days ago. In order to get my protein in during the full liquid diet, I drank 4 ounces at a time High Protein Boost and Hight Protein Ensure - you get can both at grocery or walmart - they taste pretty good. I did not get solid bowel movement until 2 days ago, so I think what you are experiencing is normal. Get your protein in also with adding some unflavored whey protein powder to your liquids. Hope that helps! Hang in there, it gets better trust me. Hopefully you dont get the gas pain in the shoulder, that hurt, last 2 days for me.

    First Week - Liquid Diet

I just had my surgery on October 22nd. Surgery went well. It is now 4 days after surgery and it looks like incisions are healing okay, some bruising and soreness. I am only taking pain meds at night. I am up and walking around and I have noticed my stomache is growling after 2 hours of eating. I hope that is normal. I am not staying full very long but I think that is to be expected. I am sticking to the diet and writing everything down so I can review with my doctor on my follow up appointment on 11/3/09. Gas pain is getting better and taking vitamins. Soreness still in the area where port is - kinda like somebody has kicked you in the stomach multiple times but I expected that. Hopefully when I can go to blended foods, I wont have to eat every 2 hours? I return to work on 11/2/09 and hope I dont feel so hungry all the time.

    October 2009 Here I come

Hi Everyone I had surgery on October 22nd and a little sore, hungry every two hours but so far so good. I am looking forward to keeping up with this forumn to get support and track progress. I had my surgery in Illinois with the Kane Center & Alexian Brothers. My surgeon was Dr Rantis. I started out at 246 and my goal weight is 140 :cursing:
  8. I just got banded on 10/22/09 through Alexian Brothers hospital. My surgeon was Dr Rantis. I am female, 38, married and live in Buffalo Grove. At surgery I was 246 pounds, I am 5'5. I am on a full liquid diet - week 1. I am looking for a mentor to help me with the journey and shed some light on what to expect. I think that having mentors is a great idea and can help people get through good and bad :cursing:
