I started my journey August 2008 by going to a seminar sponsored by Dr. Michael Snyder. I knew that my Health Insurance covered the proceedure but first I had to go through 6 consequtive months of a Medically supervised weight loss program. I also had to show weights for the past five years which I wasn't sure I had but in the end it all worked out. I first was interested in Lapband however after speaking to Dr. Snyder I changed my mind because I wanted to do this in a hurry and be done with the weight loss and be at goal fast, and went through with the approval for a GNY. Then I attended the pre-op nutrition class offered and got cold feet about such a major surgery and the complications and the "Dumping Syndrome" they spoke about. I postponed my surgery and then changed my mind again and re-submitted for the Lapband. I had my surgery October 8, 2009. After a week and a half I had lost 16 pounds. Now I am two and a half weeks out as I write this story. I am down 18 pounds from pre-op. My weight was 247 the day before surgery. I lived the months prior to surgery on a last supper mentality eating and drinking whatever I wanted and to excess, and had gained 18 pounds unfortunately, so basically I am where I was last Spring when I first saw Dr. Snyder. I wish I hadn't done that, I would have been that much closer to my goal weight of 140 pounds. Oh well live and learn.I guess I will find out how this all goes as I start getting my fills. I wish I could get mine earlier than 5 weeks out from surgery because I am tolerating food well and have just started developing some major hunger pangs. My energy all of a sudden after two weeks came back even better than before surgery and I even swing danced this weekend with a friend, started on some cleaning and organizing projects at home I had put off for a long time as well. I know I actually feel far better than before surgery now because my diet is so much better than it was before. It was all weighing me down mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. I can't wait to be wearing really cute clothes again and living my life the way I should have been all these lost years. Well that is all for now I will keep you posted as things progress.Daphne
