Back on Sunday, July 26, 2009, I saw a billboard for 1-800-GET SLIM. At first I did not want to email them as I was sure I did not meet the criteria. However I did and the same nite I got a call telling me to come to an orientation the following Thursday. I met with the doctor, psychologist and dietican and was told I was a good candidate even though my BMI was 36 since I had several co-morbilities. On August 11th I had my doctor's appointment which was so thorough that they found the start of ulcers and large gall stones. I got approval from my insurance for the removel of the gall stones. Once I recovered from the the doctor told me to schedule the lap band surgery however his insurance billers failed to resubmit my paperwork. The insurance wanted a current weigh-in and by the time I got it they canceled me. So now here I am waiting for the insurance decision. Everything has been resubmitted after I made numerous phone calls to both the insurance and the doctor's office. I even called the doctor directly to complain. I am starting my pre-surgery diet as I believe it will be approved and once its approval I want to immediately schedule my sugery. Needless to say after everything was submitted, (November 2) I was denied because I did not meet the 100 pound requirement. I have faith that all will go well. Good news! I am approved on December 10th and scheduled for surgery on December 28th.
