Pulling/crampy sensation on my left side...
AbersmomRN replied to AbersmomRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Everyone for your input! I bet a binder would help on days where I'm on my feet a lot. I may even still have mine from my c/section 7 years ago! Thanks again! -
Pulling/crampy sensation on my left side...
AbersmomRN posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I am up and walking. It is not pain; the best way to describe it is it feels like I pulled a muscle (which my surgeon said I may very well have...) I just want to be able to exercise soon, and this feeling when I walk is uncomfortable..I can't imagine power walking with it. Has anyone else had a similar thing? How long does this last? P.s- I was banded November 4th. Everything is going great except this! -

3 days out of hospital, nausea and gas.
AbersmomRN replied to K-ROD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Which meds are you on? Certain drugs work better for some people, and it may take a few tries to get one that works for you! Definitely call your surgeon and ask if there is something else you can try! This too shall pass! -
Pulling/crampy sensation on my left side...
AbersmomRN replied to AbersmomRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is bizarre! But as I said, my surgeon is not worried in the least. I don't think mine's related to my eating, but I've read that if you notice it after you eat, maybe you're eating too quickly? It's ironic, b/c last night was my first shift back at work, adn I was so nervous about the cramping being worse. I'm a nurse and am on my feet 12hours! However, the cramping was BETTER! Maybe I need to stretch it out! -
Weight Gain During Week 4
AbersmomRN replied to hd_girl70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely do not sweat it! I am scale obsessed, so I can tell you first hand that this am when I got home from work (I'm a nurse who works nightshift), I weighed 3.2lbs MORE than what i JUST weighed myself! There are a bunch of factors that could influence your weight daily, esp.fluid volume... great job on being down 19!!! -

Going out to dinner on mushies??
AbersmomRN replied to Moxi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon specifically told me to avoid Pasta as it can expand in your pouch. I just went out to dinner with my daughter (I was banded on the 4th) and am at the tail end of mushies/starting soft. I ordered a chicken quaesadilla. I basically scraped out the cheese, chicken and veggies, cut/mashed it with a fork, took super small bited and chewed A LOT before swallowing! It was fine and very satisfying. Of course I could only eat 1/4 of it! Maybe they'll be quiche or crab cake??/ -
So I read mixed things about swallowing pills. In the pre op literature it says nothing larger than an aspirin. However, the discharge instructions don't mention it, in fact a few of the perscriptions he gave me are LARGE pills! One is a large capsule of antibiotic! What have you been doing? P.s-I'm 9 days post op

So I've been doing well on day 3 of this stage, down 11lbs since surgery (12 days ago). So why did my doc tell me not thave any potatos for 3-6 months post op? Strictly for their carb value? and he also said no tomato based anything for 6 months. Acidic maybe? I'm just jealous of reading ppl on mushy stage eating mashed potatos

Will there come a day when I wake up and am completely pain/discomfort free? I mean, will I be able to "feel' the band for the rest of my life? Just curious...
-
Just curious to see if this is "normal." For the past few days, the intermittent pain has turned into more of a continuous crampy feeling. Basically around my port area. I haven't needed any pain meds or anything, but it can get annoying! I am on antibiotics as a precaution b/c my port incision has not really closed....it is kind of a yellowish scab that is still moist. No redness, fever or anything like that. Thanks for your input!

So I'm having a really hard time with these things. I've never been really into "sweets" as it is, and now I feel like i"m in sweets overload. I'm only day 1 of full liquids, and it's been a real struggle to get down the few shakes I"ve had. I can't wait for pureed stage when everything doesn't have to be "chocalate" or "berry" Yuck!

Just Banded yesterday
AbersmomRN replied to Doreenm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I was banded the 4th of November, too! Looks like it was a popular date :smile2: I've been feeling ok. Just can't wait for the day I wake up completley pain free! I am having issues witht he Protein shakes. They are WAY too sweet, so I"ve been having 3-4 Carnation Instant Bfast drinks a day to get my protein in! -
what's up with gaining?!
AbersmomRN replied to fransbeenbanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The road is going to have bumps! But I have to ask, are you to receive your monthly visitor soon? I easily gain5-7lbs that week, and it comes right off the next week! -
Hey everyone! I was banded yesterday, and all things considered, am doing pretty well! My question is this: I've had a few bouts of diarrhea today, which I found odd (really thought I'd have the opposite problem with all the anesthesia & narcotics from yesterday!) I know the first few days we are really careful about avoiding dehydration, so I'm a bit concerned. I have put a call into my doc, but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this! Thanks so much, and I'm looking forward to becoming a member of this community!

How do I know what side my port is on? I was banded yesterday, and was WAY groggy coming out of anesthesia. I have one tiny scare on my upper stomach, and 2 bigger scars on both sides of my belly button. people have been saying it is most sore at their port area. I am sore in my stomach as well as belly button area. Just curious!
