    October 2006 Bandsters!

Well I pulled my groin muscle on Wednesday and it hurts!! I was going to try to get the gym tonight, but I'm not sure I'll make it now. It hurts to walk! Maybe it will be better if I move around some more...
  3. Wow! Everyone is doing so well! Here are my stats: When in October was your surgery? October 26 How much weight have you lost so far? about 25 pounds How many fills have you had? Just had my 4th fill today of .4 cc with a total of 2.1 cc How much/what type of exercise are you doing? I'm trying to get to the gym 3-4 times a week. I usually do 30-40 minutes on the eliptical, 15-20 on bike and weights 2 time a week (I've only been once this week though!!)

    Hello from Idaho!

Hi Lucy! I'm in Utah so I guess we're kind of neighbors. :rose: First, congratulations on your approval! Second, your feelings of doubt are totally normal. It's scary when we are facing change and it's suddenly become a reality for you. There are ways to cheat your band and I still deal with head hunger vs. real hunger. But I must admit that I am SO glad I have the band...I would do it all over in a second. I find that I enjoy my food a lot more now that I can savor it instead of shoveling it in my mouth. We are always here for support. Good luck!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Well I got another fill today. They added .4 cc making my total 2.1 cc. I'm still eating more than I think I should so I really, really hope I start to feel some real restriction after this one. I made it to the gym last night and worked hard. Taking tonight off to watch Ugly Betty and Gray's Anatomy.

any one in utah want to talk

Hey everyone...I hope you are all enduring this cold weather. It sucks! I went to Seattle this past weekend to get away from the snow and it even snowed in Seattle. Anyway...how is everyone doing? Dawnae how is your fill, are you feeling more restriction? Sandra how is your back? I got another fill today of .4 cc so I'm at 2.1 cc total. We'll see how it goes...I'm still losing pretty slowly.

    Pain Medication

I would describe my pain like a dull aching inside...mostly around my port incision. I had quite a bit of pain and nausea for the first three days and I was taking pain meds every 4 hours. At the worst it was probably around a 7 or 8. But once the meds kick in you will be fine. Everyone reacts differently. I have a friend who was banded 4 days before me and she only took liquid tylenol for her pain. I guess it's just individual.

    Pain Medication

Hi Marissa. I had pain medication at the hospital while I was waiting in recovery and the doc sent me home with a prescription for liquid Lortab. I would suggest asking your doctor for the pain med prescription before your surgery so you can have it ready when you want it. I didn't get mine filled before and I was in quite a bit of pain waiting for it to be filled. Good luck!

    Still nervous about crunches

I started doing ab stuff about 2 months post-op and haven't had any problems...other than sore muscles! :rose:

    New and Nervous!

Welcome to LBT mysrok and congrats on your insurance approval! Everyone is a little different after surgery. I had my surgery on a Thursday morning and struggled with pain and nausea for 3 days after. I definitely used the pain meds the doc sent me home with. After those first 3 days I started to feel a little better every day. I felt a lot better after a week, but still had low energy for a few more weeks. I took just over a week off from work and I'm glad I did. I have a desk job and it was painful for me to sit up straight for long periods of time for the first week. Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted on your progress!
  11. I weigh myself every morning, but I only count it once a week on Sundays. That way I can monitor it throughout the week, but there's only one "official" recorded weight.
  12. Congrats Joe!! You are on your way to a successful surgery. Keep us updated on your progress.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Jimboss you are too funny! Ok, I'm trying to get back on track here...had a lot of head hunger issues the past few days. I kind of let myself eat whatever I wanted while I was on vacation and it's hard to get back on the wagon now that I'm back home. But I am going to the gym tonight!! And I have to clean my house...that counts as exercise right? :scared:

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Ok everyone...I weighed in this morning and I had gained 2.6 pounds. This doesn't really surprise me since I basically ate whatever I wanted and didn't drink enough Water. I don't feel too bad about it, I had a great vacation. I know that I will do better this week. It is SO, SO cold here in Salt Lake CIty...I don't really want to do anything but sit under a balnket. But I promise I will go to the gym tomorrow! Jules congrats on hitting 45 pounds! That is phenomenal! Jimboss I'm excited you got in early for your fill. I'm going in on Thursday for another fill myself. Good luck to everyone this week! I certainly need it...

    Lap-band Support

Welcome to LBT madeline100! I think it is totally normal for you to feel this way right after surgery. You're in a lot of pain, your body has just gone through major surgery, you're not getting very many calories. I have to admit that it was a lot more painful than I thought it was going to be. The first three days were the hardest for me, but each day after that I felt a little better. I was feeling pretty good 2 weeks after, totally normal a month after. I did have a lack of energy for about 6 weeks after...I think your body is just adjusting to the lower calories. I got my first fill about 6 weeks post-op and then a 2nd fill two weeks later and a 3rd two week after that. I'm just now starting to feel restiction. I have 1.7 cc in a 4 cc band. I hope this helps! You will feel better, you just have to make it through a couple more days.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Welcome L JO! You might want to check the OK board under local USA support and ask around for fil docs. Good luck! I'm off to Seattle for the weekend, but I'll check in a couple of times!

    Mental Health

Kynekke I hope that the medication and a break from your "diet" helps. I've found that I do better if I don't deprive myslef things like chocolate, cheese and butter. But I have to be careful not to over do it...I still do sometimes. It's a learning process...

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I didn't make it to the gym last night...I worked pretty late then started talking on the phone. I just did some leg lifts, lunges, sit ups at home. Not sure that really counts, but at least I was moving!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I keep track of my calories and exercise on sparkpeople.com. It's nice because it has a lot of food that already have the calories/fat/protein added up for you so you don't have to input too much stuff yourself. It really helps keep me in check.
