    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi Raynie, I agree with what everyone else has said. Especially about getting more Protein in the morning. I make my own sugar free/fat free pudding and add Protein powder to it. It does add a few calories, but you get around 14 g of protein/serving. Plus it sounds like you need some more calories during the day. I know it is very frustrating to feel stuck. I've been around the same weight for 3 weeks now and even gained some last week. Mostly because I ate an ass load of cookie dough. Why does the bad stuff go down so easy?? But this a new week and you just have to change your focus and mindset. Of course that is easier said than done and I defintiely have my bad days. I think it helps to be able to come here and talk to people who understand what you are going through. We are always here to listen. Catherine: have you told your doctor that you feel so tight? Do you feel like you could use a slight unfill? I worry that you struggle to get down tea!

Hi again Sunny!! It's good to hear from you again. I didn't start feeling restriction until my 3rd fill (had 4 now) and I'm still now super restricted. I can still eat bread and I've never had a PB. I have had some chest pain before though...usually when I eat too fast or take a big bite without chewing it enough. I'm hoping that I will be able to hit my sweet spot with my next fill on Feb 12.

Ha ha!! You are all too funny. I promise I threw away the rest of the cookie dough and will stay far, far away from it when I go shopping tomorrow!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Happy Birthday threebeauties!! Ugh...bad week and weekend for me. I'm back up to 196 this morning. Apparently cookie dough and alcohol is not a good diet. I'm a bit frustrated because I feel like I didn't eat that much last week and the scale showed a huge jump and then it makes me feel like I'll never get past a certain number. This is always where I have trouble. I love 20-25 pounds and then I get tired of the diet or slack off and gain it all back. It's hard to get out of that mindset and back on track. January has been hard for me!! But it's a new week and almost a new month so it will get better.

Bad week for me last week. I think the cookie dough was a bad idea. Ha ha! Now I'm back up to 195-196 and I am NOT happy about it. I threw away the cookie dough and I'm starting fresh this week! Good luck to everyone! And it's Trish's surgery day today!! Let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it.

Hi again Trish! I didn't have a pre-op diet and I'm glad. I kind of had last supper syndrome and pretty much ate whatever I wanted, but I didn't overdo it. I've been surprised that I can still pretty much eat anything, I thought I would have to give up a lot of things like sushi, steak, toast. But I've been ok with everything so far. Funny you should mention the Diet Coke. I had a dream the other night that I drank some coke and I felt so bad in my dream. I was relieved to wake up and realize that I didn't really drink it. It's on my mind, obviously. I'm excited for you...4 more days! I bet you can't wait. Keep us updated!

I'm struggling a bit on the challenge...I'm still right around 193 this week. I need to focus more and write everything down that I eat. And throw away the cookie dough!! I'm not sure I'll make the challenge...but I will sure try!

Good luck with your fill tomorrow Sandy! I called Dr. Hansen today to try to get a fill appt next week and I couldn't get in until Feb 12. I guess they're busy! Let us know how it goes.

    Any Younger Bansters Here?

I totally know what you mean about clothes sweethot! I am so sick of shopping in the fat lady stores! Lane Bryant is getting a little better lately, but they think all fat people are tall...I'm pretty short and all the pants are about a foot too long there. Torrid has some fun stuff, but some of it is kind of over the top for me. I can't wait until I can go into the Gap and buy a pair of regular size jeans. My other goal is to get a suit from Ann Taylor. Oh the choices we'll have... Good luck to everyone on your upcoming surgeries!

Welcome LB012907! I've had a wonderful experience with Dr. Hansen and the nurses there are great. Good luck on your surgery. Let us know if you have any questions! So I have a new bad habit to confess...been eating cookie dough for three nights in a row!! I have a horrible sweet tooth and I need to step away from the sugar. Ugh... Hope everyone is well...Dawnae are you out there??

Chrispy and bckeye1 I hope you guys feel better! Winter sucks. Hi Angie! Most of us were banded in oct 05, but you are most welcome to join us. The more the merrier. I have a new bad habit to disclose: I have been eating cookie dough every night for three days!! Not a lot, but it's not a good thing. Ugh...

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I try to eat between 1000-1200 calories, but sometimes I'm way under and sometimes I eat about 1500. I have been using www.sparkpeople.com to keep track of my calories and exercise, but I've just fallen behind. I don't really want to go below 1000 calories and my doc recommends staying around 1200. I have been excercising quite a bit lately too, so I guess I can eat a little more. I'm taking my measurements tonight so hopefully that will make me feel a bit better.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I'm losing pretty slowly too...about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds/week on average. My doctor is happy with that as well, but I would like to see more of a change. Lately I keep losing and gaining the same 3 pounds and it's frustrating! I had a fill last Thursday and I haven't really seen a big loss yet. I think I need to be a little bit better about tracking what I'm eating.

    Sushi?

You can also get it wrapped in soybean paper instead of seaweed and it's not as tough. I LOVE sushi!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

So I weighed myself today and I'm back to 193.4 so I guess that's good! Less than a month to meet our challenge...I hope I can do it. I also went to the gym again. I'm so glad my leg is feeling better. Jimboss I know what you mean about the weekends. I do the same thing! It's like I'm out of my work/weekday routine and I go crazy! Don't worry, you'll be back on track soon. How is everyone else doing?

    Banded on October 12, 06

Hi White06! I was banded on Oct 26 so we're pretty close. I'm sorry you feel so hungry, I've also struggled with finding the right amount of restriction. It sounds like you need a fill...can you get in for a fill any earlier? I just had my 4th fill and I'm up to 2.1 cc in a 4 cc band and I still haven't hit my sweet spot. As of menus there are some good suggestions under the food thread here. I try to eat my Protein first, then veggies, then carbs. Of course I'm not always good. For protein I eat a lot of chili, tuna, egg salad, deli meat, hambuger, yogurt, cottage cheese. For Snacks I have applesauce, humus/veggies, cheese sticks, popcorn. We have a thread for October bandsters...you should check it out! Good luck with everything and let us know if you need anything else. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/october-bandsters-t23737p95.html
  19. Hi White! I wasn't banded on Oct 12, but I was banded on Oct 26 so we're pretty close. I'm sorry to hear about your frustrations with being hungry...can you get another fill earlier? I also have a 4 cc band and I am filled to 2.1 cc and I still haven't found the perfect restriction yet. Sometimes it takes a few fills to hit your sweet spot. As far as menus...try to eat your Protein first, veggies second and then carbs if you have room. Of course I'm not perfect with eating either...it takes a lot of work and there have been a couple of weeks where I have gained. I live alone so I usually don't cook big meals, but I eat a lot of chilli, tuna, egg salad, hamburger, and shredded chicken for protein. I also eat a lot of salad with chicken, hard boiled eggs, bacon. There is also a food thread with lots of suggestions. I find I have to make an effort to prepare my food a little bit more, but that way I make better choices. There is also a thread for people who were banded in October and it's great to be able to talk to others who are going through similar issues. Here's the link http://www.lapbandtalk.com/october-bandsters-t23737p95.html I hope this helps!! Good luck.

Sandy i just had the last of the 3 October support groups on Wednesday, but I will be coming to the next general support group. Will you be there too? It would be great to meet you! It sounds like you will do better with a fill. It just takes time to find the right amount I guess. I hope your back is feeling better with your latest block. And you should be SO proud of your loss so far. 46 pounds is amazing!!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Thanks Jules! I'm sure I will be ok in a day or two. I'm just kind of disappointed because I've only been to the gym once this week. Better to lay low for a day than to further injure it I guess.
