How did I miss this thread? It's very interesting to read all the different stories. I was about 8 1/2 pounds when I was born, chubby as a kid. When I hit puberty, which was around 10ish, I thinned out a little. I wasn't necessarily fat, but I wasn't skinny either. I've always been "thick", big butt, big boobs. I think the smallest I've ever been was a 6 (for maybe like a month) in 9th grade. I didn't start gaining a lot of weight until I was a junior. I graduated high school weighing about 180. That was 11 years ago. I haven't been below 180 since 1997 and I've been yo-yoing between 190-230 for the past 5 years. Now I'm under 190 for the first time in about 8 years...I think this lapband thing is working.

Hey everyone! I'm sitting in the airport...plane is delayed to Salt Lake. I had a great weekend in Pittsburgh, but I ate and drank WAY too much. I know I will get back on track once I get home...but I'm afraid to weigh! Congrats on your upcoming anniversary Jim! And KStar you are doing awesome! Raynie let us know how the MM is. I've missed everyone...I will catch up later.

Congratulations Neal!!!

I drink Guinness bc it's hardly carbonatd at all. My doc says absolutely NO carbonation...but I was a big beer drinker before so it's hard.

I find I do better if I do allow myself to have a little bit of whatever I want. Like instead of eating half the bag of potato chips, I'll put some in a bowl and then I usually forget that I want more. Of course there are some times that I take the whole bag of chips...I think a lot of it is in my head. When I deprive myself I usually end up binging. And today all I felt like eating was candy. And that's pretty much what I did. Bad day. So don't feel alone...I am trying to work through things too. It helps to know that other people are going through the same things.

Welcome and good luck on your pre-op diet! You will do great. Let us know how your surgery goes...

I think there is muscle milk light, but I haven't tried either one. I've heard good things about it though. But a lot people like Isopure too...
-
Unfortunately I don't usually get to travel for work, but I do get to go to Orlando in March for a conference. Being a social worker has no perks. I went to Seattle to visit my old roommate and my best friend from grad school lives in Pittsburgh now (we went to the University of Chicago together). I can't wait to get out of town...but it's going to be cold AND snowy there. Shirely I bet you'll be in onderland in no time!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! I didn't make the challenge either, but I feel great! Hopefully I will make the Easter challenge this time. Congrats to everyone who made the challenge or came close. We are a bunch of losers. I'm going to Pittsburgh for the long weekend so I won't be online too much, but I'll still check in.
-
Sandy, you didn't miss much at the support group. I think I learn more online than at the support groups...but it's nice to meet other lap band people in person. Maybe next time we can meet up! You have lost 50 pounds!! That is great...more than 10 pounds per month! I ate half a bag of potato chips last week so you're not alone in the binging department. It's hard some days, I know. But you are doing really well, don't be so hard on yourself.

Congratulations Jimboss!!!! I couldn't be happier for you!

You are taking a big step and you're gaining control over your life! I wish I could have had the surgery when I was 16...you will truly benefit from the band in so many ways. That being said, you should go into this knowing all of the risks AND benefits. Learn all that you can, ask lots of questions, read everything. Good luck!! -
Hmmm...where is everyone?? I've been really busy with work the past 2 weeks and I'm going out of town for the long weekend. I'm doing ok with my weight loss...my clothes are definitely fitting better. I hope everyone is doin well!

You may want to check out this thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/many-uk-t28357.html Your band sounds so cool! We don't have that one in the States...keep us updated. Good luck with your surgery!

My doc lets us get a fill every 2 weeks if we are not feeling restriction...so I guess that could be 2/month. Good luck!
-
Kristi it sounds like you've been through a lot recently! I hope your leg is doing better...take care of yourself!!

Wow! Chrispy and Losingjusme you both look awesome!! And Losing you look so much happier. It's really amazing all of the changes we are going through...not just physical! I guess I should work on getting my pics up. Everyone is doing so well! Thanks to everyone for all the support, it really helps get me through the day sometimes. Sounds like the consensus is for an Easter challenge for 10 pounds. But Mary, we can sure try to lose 5 by St. Pat's too. Congrats on being so close to your first goal! I need to order some of this muscle milk everyone is raving about. I'm going in for a fill today so I hope that helps a bit too.

Brenda you look awesome and so much younger!!

Well I'm still at 189.8! So I'm down 8.8 for the challenge. I started my period today (sorry Jim) so I'm probably going to fluctuate this week a bit with water gain. And I'm going to Pittsburgh for the long weekend...and I'll probably drink too much there. Don't judge me, I'll be on vacation. Long story short, I'm glad I'm still in the 180s today. I think St. Pat's might be too soon for a challenge since it's just over a month away...maybe Easter. I think it's on April 8. I think that's like 7 weeks or so. What does everyone think?
