any one in utah want to talk

Good idea Sandy! We need to learn a little bit more about each other. I live in the Avenues in SLC in an old polygamist house, I'm a social worker at non-profit, born and raised in SL, went to Olympus high school, U of U for undergrad and U of Chicago for grad school. Moved back to SL June 2003. I'm SO single and that can be a challenge here in Utah, given that I'm almost 29. I'm practically an old maid.

I found some old pics...yikes! Thought I'd share them with you, even though they're scary. 1. Christmas 2005: Highest weight, 230, and in need of a haircut. 2. Christmas 2006: 199 pounds 3. February 2007: My friend Amy and me in Pittsburgh (192 pounds) 4. March 2007: My butt tonight. Ha ha! (187 pounds)

    Utah Newbie

Hi Wen! I'm from Salt Lake too...I love to meet local people. I had my surgery done in October and I couldn't be happier. I didn't have a hiatal hernia, but I know there are quite a few people here who have so hopefully they can give you some feedback. We have a thread in the Utah section...you should come say hi! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/any-one-utah-p422375.html#post422375

Raynie I'm glad you're back! We missed you. Your stories always make me laugh. Congrats on being 40 pounds down...that is awesome! Sorry your relatives/hubby didn't say anything about your weight loss. I think people don't really understand how hard we work! I hope you feel better Sonia!!

Hi Willow! I agree with Shirley...your depression might be related to your hormones. But you're also going though a lot of changes and you may be mourning the loss of food too. Talk to you doctor, anti-depressants will help and think about finding a therapist to talk to. It has helped me tremendously!

Hi Sandy!! I'm glad you posted...I was wondering how you were doing. I've been doing ok. Like I said before I'm still trying to find my sweet spot, but I'm getting better. I've been going for fills every 3-4 weeks or so. I was out of town for the last support meeting, but I'll go to the one in April. When I find out the date, I'll let you know! 60 pounds is awesome!! I definitely struggle with head hunger a lot too. In fact tonight I did with potato chips (one of my worst weaknesses). I ate way too fast and felt sick for about 30 minutes. Not fun. I haven't had a PB yet...but I've had pain and felt stuck quite a few times. I need to eat slower and chew better!

Welcome Pistol! You should be able to eat solid protein...even with a fill. You may want to check in with your doc, a small unfill could help you. Congrats on your awesome weight loss! I've been doing well the past few days. It's so hard to get back into a routine after it's been disrupted. Last week I exercised 5 times and last night as well. My goal for this week is to not to eat out until the weekend. I do so much better when I plan my meals myself. How is everyone else doing??
  10. Julie your weight loss success is phenomenal!! I can't wait to see how your PS goes. You are going to look awesome!

Ugh...fills! I'm up to 2.4 cc now in a 4 cc band and I've just barely started to feel good restriction. I think it just takes a while to get to the right spot. I'm almost there, but not quite. I've noticed I can still eat a cup or so when I eat, but I'm hardly ever hungry now.

Karen I'm so glad that everything is going well for you! Sip your water and walk around as much as you can. Audrey: Congrats on your weight loss!! You are doing so great! I'm doing well. February was a hard month for me...I was traveling a lot, not eating well and not exercising. I kept gaining and losing the same 4-5 pounds. I got a fill last Monday and I think that has helped. I was down to 189 at the end of February...got up to 195 (yikes!!) and then back down to about 193. Now I'm at 187ish and I'm hoping I'll be able to shed some more pounds here soon.

Welcome back Wonderwoman! You have done an incredible job with your weight loss so far. Keep up the good work! Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL's passing. My thoughts are with you and your family. I'm sure it will be nice to see your daughter again. I remember when I lived in Chicago I used to get so homesick for my mom. Good to hear from you Jim...I was wondering where you've been! I'm actually going to be able to register some weight change for the Easter challenge on Sunday. I think I finally got over my plateau.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I was getting worried because no one was posting! I'm glad you're around Sonia! I hope everyone else is doing well. My fill has finally given me some restriction; I've hardly been hungry all day. Talk soon!
  18. Congrats on getting started on your journey! Read as much as you can and ask lots of questions. Good luck!

    Aetna PPO

Good luck!! I'm sending good thoughts your way.

    Aetna PPO

I hope that the 3 month program is enough to get you approved! I made sure I gave the insurance company more info than was requested. Make sure you have you primary care doc write a letter of support that lists you sleep apnea, bmi, medications, etc and that lapband would drastically improve your quality of life. Keep us updated!!

Thanks Mary! It's warm here in Salt Lake today too...but I have to work. Maybe I'll take a walk at lunch.

    Aetna PPO

I have Aetna PPO and I was approved fairly easily. But I met all of the required criteria...they stressed that the 6 month doctor supervised diet was the most important. Luckily, I had been working with 2 different docs for 2 years so they counted that. The hardest part for me was getting all of my records together. Good luck!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

It's been very quiet lately...where is everyone? I had a fill today. I'm now up to 2.4 cc in 4 cc band. The nurse that did my fill has a lapband too and she said she didn't get proper restriction until 6 months out. That made me feel better because I was beginning to feel like a freak! I haven't lost anything in a month!! I really hope this fill will help me lose some. I'm back to the gym tonight with a vengeance.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Ugh...I am definitely going in the wrong direction for our Easter challenge. I weighed in this morning at 192.8...up 3 pounds. All my traveling as really thrown me off my routine. I haven't even been to the gym since the beginning of February! I go in for a fill tomorrow and I really need it to kick me into gear. Back to the gym tomorrow too... How is everyone else doing??
