I had this exact same problem! My family doc saw I was anemic on a routine blood test in August. Upon investigation, she found I had bleeding in my GI tract. My surgery was originally scheduled for Oct 5, but they ended up having to do the endoscopy/colonoscopy on Oct 5. They couldn't find anything with the scopes, so then I had to do a barium swallow and x-rays. Still, nothing. So then I had to swallow this pill with a camera in it and they finally found an ulcer in my small intestine. I was able to have surgery on Oct 26 and I now take Prevacid and Iron everyday. I'm sorry to hear your surgery has been postponed, but it's good you found out about the ulcers now. Good luck healing!!! January will be here before you know it.

I'm doing pretty good with the mushies. I miss meat though. I thought I would crave sweets more (they were my downfall), but I haven't miss them too much. I just started back to work this week and I'm pretty much exhausted at the end of the day. I'm a social worker at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I live in the Avenues in an old polygamous house. Hope you're both doing well!

I had my 2 week follow up yesterday and everything is going well. I'm scheduled for my first fill on Dec 4!! I'm a little nervous about that. I can't wait to hear about everyone else's fills!

Good plan! When I was trying to get approved I made sure to get more than what was required by insurance. I didn't want to be denied! Good luck on your apporval and all of your appointments!

Hi everyone, just wanted to check in. I decided that Sundays would be my weigh in day and guess what? I've lost 11.2 pounds since surgery!! It's so exciting to see the scale move for once. I hope everyone is doing well!

I am 5 days post-op and I still have a lot of swelling and bloating. But I'm feeling quite a bit better. I am so jealous of people who didn't have any pain! My port incision still hurts, but not too bad. Audrey that is so awesome!!! I haven't dared to weigh myself yet...

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in with all of you. I had my surgery on Thursday morning and everything went well. However, I was in a lot of pain afterwards and had nausea. Luckily they gave me lots of pain and anti-nausea meds. The first three days were pretty rough, I don't think I was quite prepared for the pain. Today I'm starting to feel normal, but my stomach feels like i've done a millions crunches. I've been pretty hungry the past two days since I've only been on clear liquids. Full liquids tomorrow! Good luck to everyone who is having surgery this week!

Glad to hear you're feeling great Sonia! I'm finally feeling better after 3 days of pain. I just didn't expect SO much pain. I've never had surgery though, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm still having trouble sleeping, but I'm starting to feel like a normal person again. I get to move on to full liquids on Tuesday!! Chrispy: I know this is an old question, but my doc didn't require me to go off birth control before surgery.
-
Sonia I'm sore too! I can't imagine how you're doing without pain meds...I'm still taking liquid lortab every 4 hours. I'm glad you made it home safely. I'll post more when I feel a bit better.

Yes, I have a surgery date...Thursday! It's crazy because it's been up in the air for a month and half and all of sudden it's here. I don't think I'm quite prepared. I'm nervous and I can't sleep! But I am ten times more excited to start this new part of my life. I'll just consider myself a cusp Oct/Nov bandster and check both groups! :girl_hug:
-
Good luck tomorrow!! I'll be going in on Thursday...

Hi Sonia. I used to live in Chicago too! :girl_hug: If I were you I'd take a cab all the way home...it will be hard to climb up and down the stairs and you will be jostled around a lot. Which line are taking? Which neighborhood do you live in? Are you worried about the expense of a cab ride? I think you'll be more comfortable in car.

That's awesome Joy!!! One and 1/2 more days...
-
Congratulations on setting your date! This site is a great resource for pre-op information. Good luck!

I got the results of my camera pill...it's a duodneal ulcer. So, I just have to take Prevacid and that should help. I got the ok for surgery on Thursday!! Which means that I won't be part of the November bandsters. But I'll definitely check in with you. Good luck to everyone!!
-
Yay! I just found out the result of the camera pill...a duodenal ulcer (in the beginning of my small intestine). I'm starting on Prevacid to treat it for now. So I will be joining bandland for sure on Thursday!!! I'm so relieved! Thanks to everyone for being so supportive and sending good thoughts my way.
