I have a 5 year old daughter that loves to run and play, and I was getting to point that it was hard to keep up with her.  I also was just not feeling healthy and had no energy.  I have a friend that had the procdure about 2 years ago, and talked to her about it.  I then started reading everything I could find about Lapband (Good and Bad).  I signed up for the seminar, met Amanda and Dr. Fox, and started the process to prepare to get approval on 6/9/09.  My insurance requirements included 6 months of dr supervised diet, 1 nutritionist visit, 1 psych eval, and various labs.  I was going through the process, and in September, my insurance changed the diet to 3 months.  I went in and had my labs done, and the pscyh eval, and was submitted to insurance.  I was approved within 1 week and scheduled for the surgeon consult within 1 more week.  At the surgery consult, I was given a surgery date of 10/7/09 and told what pre-op diet to follow (South Beach Phase 1).  On the surgery date, I went in and was in pre-op and was getting ready with them putting in the IV and putting the circulation sleeves on my legs and talking to the dr when someone that I knew 20 years ago came out, and we recognized each other.  What a trip.  The anesth. doc came in and gave me a shot of something to relax me, and the next thing I know, I wake up with an oxygen mask on, and was wondering when they were going to take me in.  Haha, the nurse says, you are in recovery.  They got me awake, up and walking around, and had me go to the bathroom, and after getting to the surgery center at 7am, I was at home by 12:30.  I kept ahead of the pain with the meds that the dr gave me, but in a couple of days, I was having no pain and stopped taking the meds.  I have taken Advil 1 time since then.  When I went to my 2 week follow-up, the dr said that I was healing ahead of schedule.  The most difficult time I have had with hunger so far was the 2nd week after surgery, as my stomach was healing, and was growling all the time.  It is going to be a difficult journey to get to my goal, but I can already tell a difference with just the 21 pounds that I have lost so far.
