No problems with MRI either. -
Any one know the answer or where to find the info???
jewel replied to mbanja's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Universal blood donor type is O neg, not O pos. My only suggestion would be to contact the burn centers and ask them who to talk to. Jewel -

I'd swallow the capsule. It's not that big. Jewel -
Mariposa, How much did all your P.S. cost. The lipo, TT, arms all done at the same time? Where did you have it done? Jewel

Hello Fellow Nurses, I have noticed many nurses posting on this support group. I've worked Hospice for 5yr in Memphis, Tn. I'm pretty much at goal, totally unfilled, I've gained about 10lb since my unfill a few weeks ago. I was too tight from about March till Oct. I lost about 30lb. That's pretty much why I didn't do anything about being too tight. Dumb I know, but the weight loss was really good and I was pretty good about doing Protein shakes regularly. My hair still falls out if I don't get a substantial amount of protein daily. I'm eating normally now and still I have this issue. Anyone know why? Maybe I've used up my reserves. That's the only thing I can think of. Nice to have this thread for nurses. Dr. Ortiz/TJ, Mx DOB 9/13/06 218/s210/c157/g150

I have just recently discovered Dr. King in Oxford, Ms. I feel so blessed to have found someone who will take care of me. I contacted the docs in Jackson and was told they do fills, but don't see you as a pt. I need someone to take care of me when I have issues and if I need an x-ray procedure to see what's wrong, I need to know I have a doctor who will do that for me. I don't really understand the stigma of Mexico. What's the difference where you went if you went out of the country, why do they have such a problem with Mexico? Has anyone used Dr. King in Oxford, Ms. I'm seeing him this week and was delighted to find someone so close to the Memphis area that would see a Mex. banded pt. I saw him yesterday and wasn't completely impressed, but I'm hoping. Anyone had experience there? Jewel Dr. Ortiz DOB 9/13/07 218/148/140

Has anyone had issues with gallbladder? I'm wondering if my pain may be a symptom of this. I have been having pain in my left upper back just under my shoulder blade that I related to being tired or stressed, but it's getting worse and moving a little lower and across my lower back. So, I'm wondering if it's band related, or what. Can anyone relate to similar complaints? Help!! Jewel

I'm researching for a face lift with eyes. There seems to be a ton of plastic surgeons in TJ and all over Mx. Anyone heard of him or have any experience with him? Any info is appreciated. Jewel

Hi Sin, Have you ever felt restriction? Sounds like you just need to keep going back for fills till you do. Have you had your fills with fluro? Seems like a waste to have the band and not use it to it's full potential. After you tell your doctor you don't have any restriction, doesn't he suggest another fill? We have to stand up for our own health care today more than ever. No one is going to spoon feed you. It's just not their problem. So, make an appointment for a fill under fluro and at least you'll be able to see how things are moving through there. Good luck. Jewel

I was thinking of you while you were in the hospital and anxious to hear from you. I'm a nurse. Too bad I couldn't have been with you. Sorry you were alone. When will you be going home? I hate it that you are alone. The first week is the killer. It will get better. Stay on this site and you will find help. Look for the liquid recipes people have used to get through this. There's one with potatoes and other things that you use the broth from, but it gives you some carbs. Chin up. Think of the thin Bloo. The worst is behind you. Jewel

My "before" photo! Just for the record..
jewel replied to Bloo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Bloo, I'd like to see your face. You sound like a sweet heart. Have you always lived in the middle east? I'm not terribly familiar with that part of the world as you know. What do you do for a living? Just curious. I know you're so looking forward to getting your surgery behind you. I can just see you shrinking out of your old body into the new. I know you'll be thrilled. Jewel -
has anyone lost 50lbs or more and how long did it take?
jewel replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are folks in this support group that started out over 300lb and down to less than 120. Look at Aussie Chick (I don't think I got that completely right). She has awsome before and after pics. So many great inspiring stories. I've lost 65lb and maybe need to lose 10-20 more. I'm no longer diabetic or hypertensive and my anniversary is next week. So, I feel like a success story that I really didn't count on. I ate bad too, we all did or we wouldn't be here. I still am no model eater, although most of my friends think I am because of my results and they want to be like me, as far as weight loss. Good luck, it's a big decision. I would look for another doctor. Jewel Dr. Ortiz, TJ, Mx 218, 153, g135 -
Hi Bloo, Where's Dubai? Good luck with the surgery. Jewel

I'm glad this thread was started and there's so much response. I live in Olive Branch. I know there must be plenty of bandsters here. My 1yr anniversary is this month. I've lost 65lb, no longer have HTN or Diabetes. I feel blessed. Madaline's Mom, I didn't think Dr. Madan would take pts done outside the U.S. I went to Mx. for surgery and have gotten my fills there. Somehow, it just seems easier. We need to have a get-together/support meeting. Thanks for posting. Jewel Dr. Ortiz, TJ, Mx 9/13/06 218-153-g145

You're a very pretty girl and I know you FEEL that way now too, as you should. I'm coming up on one year next month too. Congrats. Jewel -
Hi Maziemom, I was wondering, since you are self pay, how much Dr. Edwards charged. Was everything included, all the preop testing, postop fills and everything. Seems like there are so many self pay folks on this site. Jewel

I wonder where she got her lapband. If she had a problem, looks like they would have contacted him.

Hi, I am married to a Filippino man and I know many Filippino women, many in the states. It's a wonderful community to be involved in. Some areas have more active groups than others. I have seen situations when men brought women over for marriage that didn't work out. Filippinos can be just as odd as any one else. My advice is to become acquainted with as many people in this area as possible and active in their social gatherings. Take it slow. You need to build a friendship and get to know someone before you go any further. Filippinos are generally hard working, intelligent, loving, stable people. You can't go wrong getting to know as many as you can. Jewel Dr. Ortiz 9/13/06 218/c163/g145

Passing For Thin - Support Thread for Those Approaching Goal
jewel replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All, I have recently experienced a 'cure' of my weight related co-morbidities. It seemed to happen over night. I kept cutting my BP meds smaller and smaller until I just couldn't take them anymore. I was too dizzy and had a headache when I stood. So, I called my doc and told her I can't take this med anymore. Then, the next day, I was in a meeting and was feeling washed out and I thought maybe my blood sugar is getting too low, so I stopped both my Bp and diabetic meds, went to the doc for a check. My bp was 112/60 with no meds in over a week. I was amazed, I never really thought it would happen, never thought I could lose 50lb, never have. The doc doing my screening before surgery said, Oh yea, you'll come off these meds, no problem, but it's hard to just accept that as fact, till it happens and I feel blessed, beyond words, that it has. Now, I was just home, and no one said, without prompting, You look great! I'm kind of embarrassed by all the praise, but if I don't get it, I wonder. I need that constant stroking. It's difficult to accept this change as just normal, this is the way I am every day thing, but I'm working on that. Plus I'm dealing with just the changes of aging. I have a lot of loose skin, but it's not all from weight loss, but aging, too. I'm planning a consult soon with PS. I may wait a couple of years for things like TT/Batwings. I keep telling myself, I need to do the exercise thing, I know I do, but that's another battle. I'm enjoying the size I am now. The head/body fine tuning is coming. Jewel Dr. Ortiz/9/13/06 218/165/g145 -
I know you're coming to Memphis for surgery. (I would PM you, but wasn't able to). I work in Memphis an live nearby if you need anything. Good luck! I've heard good things about Dr. Weaver. Jewel

if anyone can relate please help me....

Hi, I started taking Prilosec. My internist suggested I take it for 6 weeks to calm down the irritation. I take generic Rx so it's cheaper and I take it most days. Try that, might help. Jewel
