I have always been a big girl, I carried my weight better because of my height, no-one knew how much I weighed. As I got older and had kids I slowly gained and my health took a dive. I found out @ 37 that I had Thyroid cancer, and through the surgeries and changing my medications I gained 60 pounds. I now was @ 300 pounds and couldn't seem to lose the weight, my knees and ankles throbbed and I couldn't do the things I use to do. I tried every diet and bought every book there was to try and lose the weight, nothing worked. I just kept gaining weight and getting more depressed. My husbands cousin told me about her journey to lose weight and how she was looking at other alternatives such as surgery. So I decided to do my homework and look at all the options out there. I was thrilled to find the lap-band, it was just what I was looking for. I would lose weight slow, in and out of the hospital in one day and less time to recover compared to the other weight loss surgeries. I'm now about four and half weeks away from surgery and can't wait to start my journey.
