would you or would you not do it again?

No, I would not do this again While it works, and I'm not denying that, I hate puking all the time. I mean, all the time. I chew 30-40 times before swallowing, I don't dring with meals, I have yet to eat a cup of food at any one time. I vomit all the time. If I could do this over again, I would not.

    Would you do it again?

No, absolutely not. I would NEVER do this again. I have been nothing but sick for almost 10mos. I throw up constantly. I chew, chew, chew, I don't eat a lot of foods anymore and still I throw up at least once a day, usually more. For the past week I have been throwing up everything. Yesterday I started throwing up liquids. I'll be calling the surgeons office first thing in the morning and once I get in to see him, I'll be setting up a surgery to remove it. It seemed a godsend at first, losing and feeling great, but now, I HATE THIS THING. It's a sad, sad day when I'd rather be fat than deal with this.

Congrats on you fantastic weight loss LapBandit, that amazing! I'm hoping you reach your goal. I am just so excited to be under 300 I can't even imagine being under 200 yet. ABC '06 ~ February Chat

Well I am doing okay YAY. I have found, that even though it's supposedly a nono, the only way I can eat and not vomit immediately after is to drink a little soda. Not too much mind you, but a few sips. It helps me burp and that has changed my eating/vomitting completely. I still can't eat a lot at any given time, but man, I can eat  and I am thrilled. I would have to say that when you can't eat more than three tiny bites of crabmeat without vomitting and then violently heaving nothing, it's a problem. Now with the small sips of the soda, i can eat about half of the crabcake and be full and not vomit. I don't care if it's taboo, it works :grouphug: I feel better than I have in months, and I'm only 1 pound away from the 50 mark!!!

Awesome weight loss :clap2: That's fantastic. Just be careful about being overfilled. I let it go for a few months and just had to have a small unfill because I started vomitting and couldn't eat anything. It took about 2 mos before it was real problem. Again, congrats on the loss!!
  7. In my opinion and during my research, I found that Dr. Michael Nusbaum (works out of St Barnabus and his office is in West Orange) is probably the best surgeon in NJ. His mortality rate is 0, his success rate is amazing and he a great doctor. Also and I find this great, he designed/created/whatever the word is the new"standard" for performing the lapband surgery. His office staff is wonderful and I can not say enough good things about him.

Hard to eat with no liquids....

For the most part it hasn't been that difficult for me to follow that rule. Sometimes though, I really need a drink while eating. I have found that hot tea works as long as I don't drink to much and use it as a tool to eat more. Just a few sips seems to do the trick. Good luck to you.
  9. and I haven't felt this good in months I actually ate and it didn't come back up...and I was FULL after about 3/4 cup of food. I think this might just work after all. I have also lost 48 lbs according to my docs records :clap2: I'm having a much better day today

    I got a 1cc unfill today...

:embarassed: Oh, and he did say I'd probably lose more if I actually started exersizing.
  11. I haven't lost any hair and I am almost 5 months out. Or it honestly could be that since I have so much hair, I don't notice if any is missing

How often do you weigh yourself?

I do it when I remember  Sometimes that's every day of the week, sometimes it's every 3 weeks. I know it sounds weird, but I don't really care what the scale says. I am buying smaller clothes and doing/moving more. I know it's working. I also know I will have to update my ticker That amount was from last month.

    Help, I took asprin!

Wow, thanks Wheetsin. Now I'm wondering if the problems I've had since the accident have more to do with overusage of Ibuprofen/pain meds/muscle relaxers more than anything else. I'll find out on Friday when I see the surgeon.

    Feeling Full...is different

It's all very weird to me The worst is when the food I ate today with no problems is a HUGE problem tomorrow. It is so frustrating.

    Ever sick of Band?

I am going in on Friday to see my surgeon. I have been having a lot of trouble since my last fill in November. I think I need a little unfill. It's gotten worse lately, but I think that is more to do with irritation of the esoph and stoma than anything else. I was also in a car accident last week and am having more trouble since then. I don't think my band slipped, I am able to keep down hot liquids, but can't do anything cold with out spitting it all back up and food is out of the question. I am hoping an unfill and a little less pressure/swelling will do the trick. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Feeling Full...is different

For me a runny nose means stop, hiccups mean I have gone to far and PB is not far behind. I try to stop before the runny nose It doesn't always work.
  17. Honestly, the one thing that stands out for me was something that happened 24 years ago I was in HS and the boyfriend and I had broken up over something stupid (as was par for the course). A good friend of mine ran over to me and said "I was talking to BF last night and he wants to get back together with you...if you lose some weight" At the time I was 5'4" and 130lbs!!

Somebody Please Respond Just a Few ?s

I don't know about the pre-op diet, I didn't have to do that. I just had to do liquids only for 24 hours prior. I think quitting smoking and a diet is just a roadmap for stress My surgeon/anaeshesiologist used a gas I was not in very much pain after surgery. I never used the morphine (they finally took it away ) and actually only used liquid tylenol. I was in much more pain at home and still only used the tylenol. I finally threw out the pain med 'script last month. The breath-y thing was the hardest thing for me also. For the first week, I had to sleep practically sitting up on pillows. Now, 4+ months out, I can sleep in whatever position I choose. I don't know any statistics. You should definitely ask your surgeion, he would know. Also, ask him what his patient success rate is, what his mortality rate is. I was more interested in my surgeons own rates than overall rates. Thankfully his mortality rate is 0!

    Nsv!!!

Here's mine My boobs stick our more than my belly! :clap2: YAY ME! :whoo:
  20. but I wish I had never had the band done. It makes me sad to say it because I am losing weight, but I am sick to death of throwing up multiple times a day. I have gone to the doctor, everything is fine. I'm apparently not chewing well enough. Whatever, I puke up mashed potatoes. What's to chew? I throw up Soup, and tea. I have really had enough. I even asked my surgeon about bypass, which I have never been interested in. I'm thinking about a total unfill and taking my chances for awhile.

I can't believe I'm going to say this...

Thanks for all of the advice. I started doing liquids only today and am going to try to stick to that for the next week. I'm hoping things will get better after that and I can start fresh. If it doesn't work, I'll call my surgeon and make an appointment for an unfill, give my body a short rest and then try again. Hopefully one of those two will work. Thanks again for all your great advice.

    Which vitamins taste the best?

Flinstones gummy vitamins I know it sounds immature, but they are the best tasting vitamins I've found.

    ABC - December chat

I checked the scale today and apparently I've gained a few pounds back since the last time I weighed myself. I'm assuming it was from before my fill. I have the distinct impression I'm not meeting my goal of 50 by Christmas, so now I'm hoping for 40. My ultimate goal is to lose 100 by the end of the summer and another 54 over the next year. I'm hopefully optimistic.
  24. Call any pschologist on your plan and tell them what you need. They should be able to do a pre-surg psych eval with no problem. I have Horizon PPO and used Jewish Family Services in Somerville (they accept my insurance and I just had to pay a $20 copay). The psychologist had never done the eval before, but she was thorough and my insurance was satisfied with it. Good luck

What time were you there :girl_hug: I got there about 7:30 and left around 9:30. I was hoping to see you, but don't know that I'd know who you were anyway I'm kind of restricted, though I can still drink water without any problems. Maybe I'm still not restricted enough. I don't know. I keep thinking this was a mistake and I should have done the bypass. I really don't know and I'm really kind of depressed at the constant vomitting and stalled weight loss. Or maybe I'm depressed because my mom, my biggest supporter aside from dh, passed away in September and I just miss her. I don't know anymore. Don't mind me, I'm just rambling off random thoughts today!
