Hi everyone, I haven't been on in a while since I got a new computer and lost my log in info. I hope everyone has been doing ok. So, here is my question to anyone who has moved after having their surgery. I had my surgery in august 06 and had it done in dallas. I have since moved away from dallas about 5 hrs away. I went last august and had a fill done and lost about 20 more lbs but I really feel I need a fill but don't want to go all the way back to dallas to get another one. I have called all the doctors in my area (abilene, lubbock, odessa, midland) and they all say I have to go back to the doctor that did my procedure which kind of sucks. I even offered to sign a release form so in case anything went wrong I would not take action. Has anyone moved and had this complication and if they did, were you ever able to get a fill away from where you had your procedure? Thanks, Dieta:smile2:

RestlessMonkey, First of all, I love your name. I can never come up with anything unique like that. Thanks for pat on the back about my stats. I live in west texas now but had my surgery done in Richardson Texas, about 5 hrs away. Just to get a fill I have to travel there. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for my weight loss so far, my (alien baby) band and me have done good so far together. I have always had really low metabolism and have had a slower weight loss than most even with my band. I am so glad I did it though. I guess I am selfish and want more faster, typical right? I do have to learn to give myself credit for the work I have done so far. I always tend to look on the negative side of things. I personally don't think I eat enough to lose weight. I think my body might think I am starving it. I'm not sure. As far as exercise, I have to admit I don't get any at all. I need to start though. I know it would give my weight loss a boost.

Hi all, I live in Big Spring Texas and I was curious to see if there any bandsters that live in the big spring/midland/odessa area and if there are any support groups in this area such as meetings and such. I am curious because I seem to be stuck at 185 lbs. I had my surgery in august 06 and I weighed 252 lbs. I have lost weight a lot slower than I have wanted to. I currently weigh 185 lbs and am stuck at this weight it seems. I am not sure what to do at this point. I am 35 lbs away from my goal and at this point I am afraid I am never going to make it. I still feel so fat and unsuccessful at times and I get so discouraged. My e-mail is spoiledprincess64470@yahoo.com if you want to send me an e-mail feel free.

You know you are a bandster when....

it takes you longer than anyone else to order food off of the menu and you rattle of the list of foods in your head you can't eat or would rather like to keep down after you get finished. -
I know how you feel. I had a tooth ache for 3 months and until I got it taken care of (my tooth pulled) the only way I could get the pain to subside was to eat something soft which wasn't always healthy. Needless to say I gained about 11 lbs myself. I am scheduled for a fill on August 15th. I would go for a fill sooner but I have to travel to Dallas and I live about 5 hrs away and have to travel to them. Hopefully after my fill I will start to lose again. Good luck on losing those extra pounds.

I know how you feel and i try to tell myself everyday i am not a failure but it is hard to tell yourself that you aren't when you feel deep inside that you are. In January I left my husband due to him being abusive to my 12 year old son. I went on the road with my dad (he's a trucker) and was doing ok for a while. In Feburary I moved back home to my mothers house. I started out at 179 lbs approximately at that time. My soon to be ex husband and 1st ex husband started stressing me out major time. As if that is not enough then I get a toothache and the only way to relieve the pain was to eat even if I wasn't hungry. Also, I got my surgery done in Dallas and I now live in West Texas which is about 5 hours away from Dallas. I called every lap band doctor in the area and since I got my surgery done in Dallas I have to go back to get my fill there. So I have scheduled a fill for August 15th so maybe I can start to lose weight again. I have gained over 10 lbs. I am ashamed of myself of gaining weight. I wish you luck in your losing and all of us also. The people that say having the lap band surgery is the easy way out then they should come on here and read some of our posts and see what we go through that some of us do gain weight due to life situations and have to work at losing again. Keep your chin up and you will succeed. Don't give up on yourself or the process and I will do the same. In some odd way if I know that someone else can go through something similar and keep their chin up I can too.

Congratulations! I so look forward to that day myself! Right now it is a vague hope but I am only hoping it will get better. Again, good going! Dieta

This article is exactly what I am going through right now. I am living with my mother once again and there is so much stress around here I have gained 11 lbs. My clothes are fitting me tight again. To top that I now live in West Texas and had my surgery in Dallas (east texas). To get a fill I have to go back to Dallas. I have scheduled a fill for the 15th of August. I want to start losing again and get back on the losing track again. I want to get to my goal weight and start feeling healthy again. Thank you for writing this article. Dieta Craig

I haven't posted in a while and I wanted to say hi to everyone and hope that everyone is doing ok. A lot has been going on with me and it has affected my weight loss. I left my husband in January of this year and of course that was stressful and the past two months I have had a toothache and the only way I could relieve the pain was eat something, even when I wasn't hungry. I have noticed a little weight gain, not enough to not fit into my clothes and size I had gotten down to, 14, but I have noticed a little bit. To top it off, I had my surgery in Dallas and I now live in West Texas and all the doctors in this area won't touch my band with a ten foot poll even for a fill so I am going to have to go back to Dallas if anything goes wrong with my band or if I need a fill. Of course I am stressed and what happens when I get stressed, I eat. I am trying to listen to my band, which most of the time I do, but sometimes I don't, which I get dissapointed in myself and am not starting to think about diets again, which never helped me in the past and won't help me now. I guess I just needed to vent to ya'll because I knew I would be understood. Thanks for listening.

MollyMolly, I did go to the dentist and get some medicine for the infection and pain. I have to have it taken out in a few weeks. I am trying to hang in there its just hard sometimes.

I had my surgery in August of 06. My soon to be ex-husband was supportive of me getting the surgery and all the way through it. It seemed the more weight I lost the less he wanted me. Me and my husband are now going through a divorce. Before we seperated we didn't make love and he wouldn't even look at me. I have lost 100 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I am not blaming all our problems on my weight loss but it did seem to contribute.

OMG! I have lost 90 lbs and before I lost the weight I was hot all the time. Now on a cool day the heater can be on 80 and I'm still cold. My husband bought me this pink robe and when he bought it for me it fit me, not it hangs on me, I can wrap it around me twice. Anyway, when I get cold I wrap up in that and get under my covers. I always have to keep socks on or my feet freeze. I never realized one of the advantages of being fat, insulation lol.

When I went in to scor they took all my saline out of my band which would allow me to go on my liquid diet.
-
So I had a band slippage that was found approximately two weeks ago. So I was put on a liquid diet for 7 days and a mushy diet for 7 days to see if it would fix the problem. I went back to scor today and was checked out and it turns out that the diet fixed the problem. Another good thing was that I didn't gain not one pound. I am only 20 lbs. away from my goal weight. So, they put half of my fluid back in that they took out before. So now I feel secure again with some of my fill back in. I am looking forward to starting to lose again. So I don't have to have surgery to fix it. Yea!

I got a cold back in August right after I got a fill. My son brought it home from football. I had a lot coughing and it caused my alien baby to slip. I started having heartburn at night really bad and couldn't even eat 2 oz of food in one meal. I could not drink even 8 oz of water a day. I thought the heartburn was normal but it wasn't. Next time I have excessive heartburn I will go in asap to have it checked out. When I initially went it scor assumed it was due to me getting sick. I told them no way I hate getting sick and would never overeat to cause that. I have gotten sick maybe 5 times in 17 months. I am just glad that the issue is fixed.

Feel like I'm in rehab! Dealing with emotional eating...HELP!
belle75067 replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I remember the first days after my surgery, the pain and the gas started to decrease. I was so hungry and at night I would dream at night of chili cheese burgers, fries, and shakes. It was so hard to go to the grocery store because simple foods looked good. When I finally ate my first 1/2 can of tomato soup mixed with milk I thought I was tasting heaven. As for the emotional eating, I have found that I still crave foods that I used to love. I had my surgery back in August 06. And to be honest a lot of the times the only thing that kept me from eating the wrong foods was the fact that I knew I would get sick and I hate throwing up and I wanted to succeed with my lap band. Recently, my band slipped due to having a cold and the excessive coughing. They removed all my fluids and the first time I felt hunger after not feeling it for such a long time I didn't know how to deal with it. I have had to take it one day as a time and fight the cravings I always had. So, does the emotional eating ever get better? In a manner, yes, also on the other side no. The only thing I can say is keep your chin up and you will be ok. Take one meal at a time followed by one day at a time. -
This last week I went to the doctor due to excessive heartburn and not being able to eat enough. I was losing really fast (at least 7 lbs a week). I know I never thought I would complain about losing weight but when you buy a pair of jeans and they fit and the next week they are falling off of you there is an issue. So, I went and they x-rayed me and found out I had a slippage. I had a cold back in August and due to excessive coughing I now have a slippage and have had one for a while. I am now on a liquid diet for 7 days and a mushy diet for the next 7 days to see if the diet fixes it, which they are confident it will. So, hope this helps and that you start to feel better. Dieta:)

August 2006 - Running totals and updates
belle75067 replied to faybie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery august 23rd of o6. I have lost 85 lbs. My name is Dieta C. and I had my surgery is Richardson Texas by Dr. Benevides (i think thats how you spell his name, I call him dr.. I started out 252 lbs at a size 22/24. I now weigh 167 lbs. and am in a size 14, needing to get a size 12 soon. I have had no complications with my band, except being overfilled once and alot of heartburn. This last week I went to get a slight unfill due to not being able to eat as much as I needed to, I was losing at least a lb. a day. Well they x-rayed me and found I had a slippage of my band due to the amount of weight I had lost and a cold I had in August with a pretty bad cough. I am now on a liquid diet for 7 days and mushy diet for 7 days and then I go back to have it looked at again to see if the diet fixed it. If not they might have to go back in and fix it with an operation. They are confident that it will get fixed by the diet. This liquid diet is hard though. I want at least some food, even if its the little bit I was able to eat. They took all my fill out and I didn't realize I haven't been truly hungry in so long I forgot what it felt like. Now I know what I'm not missing. I thought I had lost my weight my food addiction was gone or that I could at least control it. Since I have no fluid in me I realize now that it is a battle I will have to fight my entire life and that in some ways I am still afraid of food and it making me fat. Does this make sense? Anyway, I know this was supposed to be only a running total update and I got carried away. Sorry about that. Dieta:kiss2: -
I do not eat enough in a day to count calories. I had a fill in on august 23rd of this year. Shortly after my fill I got a cold. It blocked my ban and constricted me further. I got over my cold but have not been able to eat very much. I eat about 6 small meals a day. When I say small I mean maybe a few bites. I went on the road with my dad for a month, he is a trucker, and he would order a plate of food and I would eat a few bites off of it. I was very cheap he said. Anyway, I would be afraid to count calories to see how little I actually ate.

How long have you had your band and are you still happy?
belle75067 replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my surgery August 23, 2006 and have never had any issues with it except one overfill which I got corrected. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have lost almost 100 lbs. with it. -
I am 11 lbs. away from my personal goal of losing 100 lbs. I had my surgery on August 23, 2006 and started out at 252 lbs, size 22/24. I now weigh 161 and am wearing a size 14 jean and medium size clothing. One of the side effects I didn't like was that my chests size went down 3 cups but oh well. My stomach is going away, almost flat now. I will need some surgery in the future but it really doesn't look at bad as I thought it would.

How long does it take you to eat a meal?
belle75067 replied to cookielover's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted under five minutes because I can eat very little since my last fill and after a few bites I'm full. I have learned not to push myself and make myself eat more when my alien baby (band) tells me I'm full. -
I had my surgery August 23, 2006. I remember feeling this same way shortly after my surgery. I wanted to eat but hated to eat. I was so hungry but when I ate I would feel the pain of the food going down. It wasn't always painful just irritating most of the time. It got better after a while, or I should say I got used to it. I still feel the same way sometimes.

What is the hardest/worst part about being banded?
belle75067 replied to KMEArnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say the hardest thing for me is still loving food so much! My alien baby(band) lets me know my limits and I know what will happen if I overeat. Eating out is hard because its financially not worth it anymore because I eat so little now. Sometimes when I am eating food I love and have loved all my life I want to be able to eat more but I can't and at the end of the day I feel better because I'm not stuffed. I hope I explained and this didn't sound silly.
