Liver Shrinking Prior to Surger
dyingtobethin replied to Miss Sammy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the way my doctor told me to shrink my liver was to do the atkins low carb diet for 1 week before the surgery and that would be all I would need to do. -

Couples being banded??
dyingtobethin replied to ready4nume's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Readyfornume i will be getting banded around january or early february and my husband will be getting the bypass. The reason he is getting the bypass is because he has dibeties and that is the best solution for him. I agree it will be great to go through this together. It will be good to be able to know what the other is going through. We have also been married for 15 years. I would love to keep in touch and learn more about your story and your sucesses. Feel free to leave me a message if you want to. -
Tessierose you should check out the chat room you will love it.

Help I am wondering if I should have bypass instead of lapband. I have researched the lapband only for the past 3 months and now I am unsure if it is the right move for me. I want to be sucessful and I am a big sweets fanatic and from everything I am hearing the bypass would be the best option for me. Just the thought of the bypass makes my stomache do flip flops. Did anyone else feel unsure about which surgery was best for them?:w00t:

Help bypass or lapband
dyingtobethin replied to dyingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bristlecone thanks for being supportive no matter what decision I make so many people in the lapband forum here seem to be almost nasty to you when you mention bypass. I have herad a lot of good and bad with both surgeries so it is a personal decision. -
Help bypass or lapband
dyingtobethin replied to dyingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks I will ask my insurance company if the band fails if they would then cover the bypass. if it fails after I hit a normal weight I do not think they would then because I would not qualify. I will check with them though. Thanks for your input. -
Help bypass or lapband
dyingtobethin replied to dyingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well i read what you had to say then read three more post that people with the bypass tend to gain it all back so my question is which is it they lose to much or gain it all back. I think some go to far and lose to much and I think some do gain it back. I have read so many stories and it seems like everyone has a different opinion which only causes me more confusion. I will meet with my surgeon and discuss with him and then make a decision. Thanks for the input. -
Help bypass or lapband
dyingtobethin replied to dyingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow it is as if I could have written your story. I am 42 but 5'6 and 270. I have been overweight since I was 9yrs old. I currently only have slight high blood presure so I have been thinking all along I was going to have the lapband because even if it takes me a long time to lose the weight its ok because I do not have any health issues to worry about. However for the last 2 days I have been thinking more about the bypass because I know the weight loss is more permanate and I am a sweets addicted idoit. My husband is having the bypass and now I am just confused as to which one I should have. Feel free to email me directly at mcarpenter8586@yahoo.com -
Confussed about process
dyingtobethin replied to Biker Deb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well for me I called my local hospital and they have a program that offers a free weight loss seminar and they already have a group of bariatric doctors who come there and do the surgerys and we just choose from the surgeons that perform the surgery there. contact your local hospital and see if they have surgeons that perform these services there. Hope this is some help to you. -
I would start with the local hospitals in your area most major hospitals have a weight loss surgery program and they will set all your appointments and get your insurance approval for no extra money only the cost of the surgery itself good luck to all and sorry about your nightmare stories.

2nd Dilated Pouch within one year
dyingtobethin replied to Wisegrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jachut, you hit the nail on the head. I have not been banded yet but know from doing every diet in the world that the band is a plastic band it does not have a brain we have to use ours in order to make it do what is was designed to do. I have always suceeded in life at things when i have a plan or when there is instructions to follow so i think the band will be great for me because you are given instructions on how you are suppose to use it to suceed. You must eat small amounts and work out together for the best result. -
Company asked to Reschedule Surgery so it's more convenient for them
dyingtobethin replied to Danimal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well i told my boss it would probable take 4-6 months to go through the whole process because that is what i was told when i started the process. Well it has been less than 5 weeks and all i have to do is send to insurance. When i told my boss that i was through with all of my dr appointments she said it is still going to be several months before your surgeries right? I said well i am not sure how long it will take to get through insurance and surgery to get scheduled. She said well year end is a really bad time to take off because we need to get all the money in we can by ear end. So i told her if it was better that i wait until the 1st of the year i would and that i would give her a 2 week notice. I work in the business office at a doctors office. It did make me mad through because i am never out i have been there 2 years and missed 3 days which 2 of were vacation and 1 sick. Oh well come jan 1st i will schedule no matter what date they set for me. -
