I had my 2nd fill a couple of days ago. I have somewhere between 3.5 and 4 cc's. Not sure of the exact amount. My band holds 10 cc's I have been watching for the hiccups, runny nose, deep breath as my full signal. But the past 2 nights, I have had a little discomfort in my chest. It's not stuck because I'm not sliming or in a lot of pain. Could that be my sign that I'm full? I do quit eating when that discomfort comes.

What exactly does a fill feel like ?
TN_girl21 replied to robin32470's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has me lay down, puts the fluroscope over me, and also feels for the port. He puts the needle in, and like Jojo said it feels like a pinch. But I feel a little pop. My dr said that's normal and actually gives them an extra confirmation that he is in the port. I then stand up and stand in front of the fluroscope, drink a swig of barium. Then the fluid goes in, and I drink water to make sure it's not too much. They pull the needle out, put a band aid over the spot, and I'm out the door. It takes my doctor maybe 5 minutes at the most to do my fills. It's not bad at all!! -
16 Fills and no restriction
TN_girl21 replied to AZDave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like your doctor has not been too aggressive with fills in the beginning. If I read it right, you have 5cc's in your band. You probably aren't at your sweet spot yet. My surgeon told me that I will really start to feel restriction when I reach about 6-7 cc's (my band holds 10 as well. I currently have between 3.5-4 cc's). Talk to your doctor. Ask him why your fills have been so small. -
Protien Shakes (Warning: Maybe TMI)
TN_girl21 replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not lactose intolerant. I drink milk just fine. I'm starting to wonder if it's a bad batch. I have an untouched pack that I'm going to try tomorrow morning when I have nowhere to be. I'm thinking about trying the Whey Protein that was mentioned a few posts back as well. -
Protien Shakes (Warning: Maybe TMI)
TN_girl21 replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, yall! I'm definitely going to be trying a new shake. I just wish I knew what caused them to all of a sudden make me sick. -
I was reminded today of how much I LOVE Green Tea. I am at a point where I only drink water, but I'm tired of not having taste. Is Green Tea an ok fluid for me to drink?

Any Collegiate Bandsters out there?
TN_girl21 replied to ljlsongbird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! I'm a junior in college and was banded Dec 30! Luckily, I am married and don't have to live on campus with the horrible food choices! But I am at school all day 2 days a week, and luckily there is a Subway so I can get a salad. Actually, I am doing a group project on our student dining, and it has really opened my eyes as to how unhealthy the food at college is! You will figure out what works for you. I, too, have been bending the rules too much because I am not at my sweet spot yet. I go for my 2nd fill on Monday. Good luck!!! -
My doctor hasn't said anything about it. I guess I should ask him. To be honest, last time I drank green tea every day, I lost weight. Maybe I should buy the decaf next time.

Catherine, I can completely relate! I come a very well off family as well, and people sure do judge your charity (even though the clothing exchange is not charity). I have never been to a clothing exchange before, but I do make sure my clothes go to people who need them. All we have around here is GoodWill and Salvation Army. I'm sure those women were just jealous that you can afford the nice clothes to begin with. Don't worry about them! I'm sure the other women were very grateful! Because I have to say..if I could not afford certain things, I would be grateful if I were getting them for free!

I am thinking of getting the DVDs because I can't make to the class offered at the gym. Has anyone used the DVDs? This looks like so much.

I am getting banded on Wednesday, and I am trying to figure out what type of exercising I need to do. Here's my problem...I am sooo afraid of going to the gym and looking like a fat idiot. So my question is...until I get confident enough, do you think it would be ok to do my Wii Fit, my Jillian Michaels game for Wii and I have been thinking about getting the Zumba cds. Please give me your opinion!

December Bandsters How much have you lost?
TN_girl21 replied to oceancity4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on December 30th. I've lost around 21 pounds. I kind of got off track because I got so busy with work and school. I am still in the process of figuring out my food "schedule", which isn't helping the scale! I know it's all a learning process. I've had one fill of 3ccs (my band holds 10 ccs), and I go for my 2nd fill next week! -
My husband and I just found out that a very good friend of ours has cancer. He is 24. The doctors found it in his genitals, and he had surgery. They recently did a ct scan and the cancer is in his lymph nodes of his stomach. He will be going through chemo. He will lose his hair. He will not be able to work, and he will never be able to have kids. And the doctors told him this will be very hard on him. I am speechless and scared. I have never had a friend who has cancer. My problem is....I am an emotional eater. I am definitely getting better. Please give me ideas to not to give into the emotional eating. I need all the help I can get. And for those that believe, please say a prayer for him, his family and the doctors. Thank you.
-
Thank you! I have been doing good on not eating my emotions. Betsy, you are so right. I need to make eating poorly not an option. I honestly never thought about it like that. My husband and I talk about it. We are both very upset by it. And unfortunately, I have learned the hard way that eating my emotions makes me feel so much worse.

who supports right to choose
TN_girl21 replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you, BJean. I hope to be able to contribute as much as my parents have one day. I'm actually in the process of trying to figure out how to put together a "Spa Day" for teenage girls at our St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. And I would love it if all wealthy people would give back like some do. Unfortunately, some wealthy (mostly Republicans, I know lol) do not want to help others. -
Corliss, I am so sorry to hear about that! I'm glad you are ok!! I am not at restriction yet either (only have 3 ccs out of a 10 cc band). We will get there soon!!!

who supports right to choose
TN_girl21 replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am all for the government helping the unfortunate/unable. But where I draw the line is the people who want a hand out that do NOT want to work at all! If you are unable to work, that's a different story. I love the fact that anybody can go to college off of a government grant and scholarship. My parents started off dirt poor, and are now very wealthy. They give and give and give so much. I am so fortunate that my Republican parents brought me up to want to give back and share. There is nothing wrong with the government helping people who really do need it and appreciate it. You wouldn't believe the letters my mom gets from random people in our town wanting a hand out or claiming to be related so they need money. Now some of them are legit. My mom has actually sent a child (that she has never met) to college because of a letter sent to her. The point of my post is...always give back! And not all Conservatives don't want the government to help where needed (I know you didn't say that, nor did you imply it...just saying. lol). -
I love Toyotas. I've had 3. And my husband has had 1. We actually have had 3 Ford trucks (2 F-250's and 1 F-350 dually). Well, we got rid of all 3 Fords! He now has a Dodge Dually. Anyways...Toyotas are great cars. I know they will get this fixed, and everybody will be ok. It may take some time, but every automobile company will go through this sometime.

post op liquid diet
TN_girl21 replied to tiger2118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same boat as you! Follow your doctor's orders. My doctor's post op diet is...1 week clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week soft food and then real food. When you go in for your check up, let them know you are hungry. My doctor allowed me to advance to soft food as tolerated at my 1 week check up. They let you advance on as well. Or you could call the office and talk to them about it. -
Any one banded on or around 12/29/09
TN_girl21 replied to Tiggerangel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 12/30/09! The surgery went great! I just got my first fill this past Wednesday. I don't really have restriction. I am eating less than I was, but I am still hungry quite a bit. I'm so ready for the sweet spot! As of right now..I can eat anything. -
Feeling hopeless and don't know what to do...
TN_girl21 replied to TN_girl21's topic in The Gals' Room
Sorry I haven't updated! Things are back to normal. We had a sit down heart-to-heart. Things have been great for a couple of weeks now. And some good news....he more than likely has a job! And he is so excited! It's not quite what he wants, but he is taking it until something better comes along. I told him that is what he is going to have to do in this economy and he agreed. We are making plans for the future on everything. I really do feel like he was fighting depression. And I think the thought of me being skinny was scaring him in the fact that he was thinking I would leave him. I have reassured him that I am not. And he is even complimenting me on my weight loss quite a bit, which makes me feel great! I really want to thank every one of you for your support! Yall have no idea how much this truly helped me. -
Twilight, I know I'm making excuses not to go to the gym. No offense taken! Don't worry. I am working out with my Jillian Michaels for my Wii and my Wii fit. And I am going to be starting Zumba soon! It looks like so much fun! I am thinking about switching gyms. But I told myself this morning....get over the issue with the gym, go and sweat your butt off because in the end it will so be worth it!!! And I know it will be worth it!

Silvers....I agree that some people don't care and are just there to work out. But I have been on the treadmill at the gym before, along with some other overweight people. And we heard fit people talking about us. That's what has made me not confident enough. I'm dying to do the Couch to 5k, but I refuse to do it at the gym because of what happened there. My husband told me that if any of the gym staff heard them they would have been kicked out because it is against the rules of the gym. We just got about 4 inches of snow here yesterday (yes, in southeast TN lol) so outside is definitely out. I'm at a loss here. My weight is at a stand still, but then again I only have had 1 fill so I don't have restriction. I've always dreamed of being a person who could go out and just run, and I plan on making that dream come true. I know it will take time.

Period started with surgery
TN_girl21 replied to texasteacher1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is that really true? Because this period that I'm on now (which is a week early) is not really heavy, but I'm cramping sooooo bad. So does that mean is ovulatory? I have never heard that before!
