Valentine Day Challenge?
TN_girl21 replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would like to be in on this challenge! I just had surgery 3 days ago. Started at 246, down to 240. I don't get my first fill until the week of January 25th-ish. So I would like to lose 15 pounds by Valentine's Day! I hope that's not too much of a goal since I just had surgery! -
Banded last night (12-23-09)
TN_girl21 replied to asutexan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on December 30th! I'm doing pretty good. Still a little sore, and have some gas pains still. I can finally sleep flat on my back and on my right side! My port is on my left side. I have a question for those that are ahead of me...I'm 3 days post op. And I can't tell if the gurgling in my belly is gas or hunger pains. Can anyone tell me how they figured it out??? -
I am 2 days post op. I'm feeling pretty good, still have some gas pains and a little bit of soreness. My question is...is it normal that I can eat a whole cop of jello? Like the little plastic cups they come in. I make sure to make it real liquidy in my mouth before I swallow. I just thought with my stomach being swollen I wouldn't be able to eat it all?
-
Thanks! Yesterday I could only eat like 5 tiny bites. Today I was able to eat the whole thing. That's the only "food" I've had today. Other than that one jello, I've had gatorade and water/crystal light.

I am not as far as you post op, but from what I have read, it takes some time for the port incision to not be tender. It is most commonly the last incision to stop hurting. If I am wrong, feel free to correct me!

banded, 12/29,questions
TN_girl21 replied to weightandsee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 30th. I didn't pass much gas yesterday. I am starting to pass it today. And just like smitten, I feel like I need to burp and can't. It hurts when I try to burp. But at least the gas is coming out anyway! I'm still kind of bloated and swollen. I'm just making sure I get up and walk at least every hour. I over did my getting up and down yesterday and had to take my pain meds around noon. So walk, just don't over do it! -
I have been to the gym, and I actually have a membership to The Rush here in my town. Almost every time I go, I do what I can handle, which is at least 30 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill. Sometimes I would switch it up with the bike. But I have had people look at me and talk about how short of a time I was on the treadmill. That's what has killed it for me. Cingulus, thank you for the website! And to be honest, I need that "tough love". I'm the type that it will motivate me more and a light bulb will go off in my head and I will say "You're right". Bill, I cannot get walking in all year round here. lol The high the next couple of days is only in the 30's. To us...that's too cold!!! But it's like this every winter lol

You go girl!!! When I get the body I want...I'm going to take pin up pictures on my husband's Harley! haha

I am getting soooo excited!!!!!!!!!! I'm also so glad that my doctor did not have me do a pre-op diet because with the holidays, I don't know what I would have done. All I have to do is do clear liquids the day before. If any of the veteran bandsters are lurking on here, do you have any advice for us that are getting banded this week? I'm going Tuesday to the store to stock up on my clear liquids. I'm also trying to figure out what I am going to do for protein shakes during my clear liquid stage. Help?

What Age Were You When You Got The Lap Band Surgery?
TN_girl21 replied to MsFab1988's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 21 and I am getting banded on the 30th of this month!!! -
I have PCOS as well. I haven't been banded yet, but my surgery is December 30th!!! My dad had the bypass and had so so many problems with it! That's one reason I chose lap-band over bypass. My surgeon actually told me that I should do very well with the lap-band and my PCOS.

How did you feel the day after surgery?
TN_girl21 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I may have to either make a 2 hour drive (well, ride from Chattanooga - Atlanta) or a flight from C to A the day after my surgery. Can you tell me how you felt the day after surgery? -
How did you feel the day after surgery?
TN_girl21 replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really up to my mother if we fly. And I may not be going, but I wanted everyone's opinion! I am not worried about the seats being narrow, as my mother (fortunately) has her own plane. I was also hoping one of you (which you did) would bring up the cabin pressure issue! Thank you so much for bringing that up! A friend of my family's had the band, and she was shopping the next day. lol I know everybody is different. But thank you all for your comments!! -
Just introducing myself! I'm actually from Cleveland...but close enough! lol I will be banded on December 30th by Dr. Ponce!!

Time between your first visit to surgery date?
TN_girl21 replied to hlubag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just had my first visit with my surgery yesterday. My surgery is scheduled for December 30th. It could have been sooner, but I chose to wait because of me opening my new business. -
Breastfeeding in public:
TN_girl21 replied to Wheetsin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am not against breast feeding in public, but my thing is please cover up. I know it's natural, but honestly, I do not want to see another woman's boobs. I'm not trying to be mean...but it's just my opinion. And I asked my husband (who is 23...and shouldn't care about seeing boobs right?) Well, it even makes him uncomfortable for a woman to take her boob out and not cover up when breast feeding. I don't care where or when a woman does it. They can do it sitting at the dinner table for all I care, I just wish they would cover up. And I have heard from many dads who wished their wives would cover up rather than expose their boob to the world. But to each her own.. -
I guess you could say my post op diet is strict. Clear liquids for one week, full liquids on week 2, mushies on week 3 and then solid foods week 4. He won't do a fill until a month after surgery. My doctor is also at a "center of excellence" and helped with the clinical trials and actually did the first Realize Band surgery in the country. So I am very very very trustworthy of him! I have never heard of a doctor letting you be on solids in the first week. My surgeon told me that I have to let my stomach heal before I start on real food. Hmmm..just shows everybody is different!

I will be banded on December 30th!!!!! Ahh! I'm so excited!!!!! And I'm also surprised that my surgeon does not have me on a pre op diet, except for liquids the night before. Is anybody else not having to do a pre op diet?
-
I am a self pay. Well, actually my loving mother is doing this for me. This surgery is costing me $14,900. You have to pay another $1,000 if you haven't had an Upper GI done in the last 6 months (luckily, I have though)! I waited exactly one week from seminar to consultation. My consultation was today. I chose my surgery date, and it is December 30!! No pre op diet required because I am so young and don't have a lot of health problems (Just have PCOS). I know that I in the long run I won't feel bad asking my mom for this because I will be thin, in much better help and able to give my mom grandchildren!
-
My seminar is tomorrow!!!!! How long is it usually between seminar and surgery? I'm a self pay. Someone I know who used the same doctor that I am said she set her surgery date at the seminar for 3 weeks later. Has anyone else done that or heard of that?
-
I'm from the Chattanooga area. I would love to get it done before the holidays!!!! I sure hope I can! My thinking is...why put on the extra 15 holiday pounds?? lol
-
Hey Ashley! Congrats on getting your date! I'm not sure if this would be out of your way, but you could try Dr. Jamie Ponce in Chattanooga, TN for your fills (I'm from Cleveland, TN). He is going to be my surgeon, and he has awesome reviews!!! And you can find tons of info on him. Just google him!
