8 weeks post op ~ feeling discouraged
TN_girl21 replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not trying to change the subject here..but I just have a quick question about the personal trainer. I had one back in the summer. She wanted to work me so hard that I would puke and get weak. I got turned off from having a personal trainer because of that. Should I try having one again or no? -
Any last minute suggestions?
TN_girl21 replied to dmcguire0408's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be able to get your liquids in. You shouldn't have any difficulty and plus you can't let yourself get dehydrated. I forgot about a heating pad, that's a great suggestion too! -

Walk your butt off after surgery. It helps so much more than you realize! And also, don't let the pain get away from you. I accidently did that, and it was not fun. Take your pain medicine as soon as it's time. I was able to stop the pain meds on Saturday (I had surgery Wednesday). I was not very sore at all. I could get up and down by myself! Everyone is different though. I am 8 days post op, and feeling great!!!! And fair warning, get ready to be hungry when your swelling goes down! I called my doctor 5 days post op and he let me move onto full liquids early. And actually let me move onto soft foods 1 week early! Get your liquids in! And I can't say it enough...walk walk walk walk!!! -
Congrats!!!! I can't wait until I can say I am 55 pounds lighter. You will be at your goal weight in no time!

Anyone banded NOT through the belly button????
TN_girl21 replied to esam5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 5 incisions, all above my belly button. 4 of my incisions are very little. I have one under my left breast that is about an inch and a half long, and that is where my port is located. I do not know of many people who had the surgery through their belly button. I would be interested to see how that works. -
6 days post op, paranoid!
TN_girl21 replied to missalissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chick, I had my 1 week visit today, and I had a woman tell me that she chewed some mac&cheese and spit it out, just to get the taste because she is starving! She had her surgery Dec 31. She said that it did more harm than good to chew it and spit it out. She said it made her stomach gurgle and rumble even more. For those that are close to moving to full liquids, call your doctor and ask if you can add in a protein shake or yogurt! If you are close enough, they will probably let you. I am 1 week today, and my doctor has allowed me to move to soft/pureed food 1 week early because I am healing and doing so well! -
Congrats!!!! You are definitely an inspiration!

am I eating too much????
TN_girl21 replied to JennyG1971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jenny, I am one week post op today as well. My doctor hasn't moved me onto soft food yet, but I would love it if he did! haha If this makes you feel any better, yesterday I did this for my meals. B-1 Atkins Protein Shake, L-1 container of SF Vanilla pudding, D-Cream of Chicken Soup. The times that I got hungry between, I would drink water, usually that took care of that rumble in my tummy. I'm still in the process of figuring out real hunger and head hunger. I am trying to get used to only eating 3 times a day as well! -
I own and run my very own shoe store! And I am still working on my Bachelors in Entrepreneurship. I come by it honest. lol Both my parents are very successful entrepreneurs. I am also a wife and a mother to 2 dogs: an almost 3 year old Yorkie and a 2 year old Boxer.

6 days post op, paranoid!
TN_girl21 replied to missalissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 days post op as well! I don't think you stretched your pouch. The clear fluids go right through your band (that's what I was told). I was hungry on Saturday. I just had cream of chicken soup and it definitely filled me up! We just have to stay focused!! Like Janet said...we can do this!!!!!! -
Is there a DPA? Diet Pepsi Anonymous?
TN_girl21 replied to Melinco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mel, I am not a Pepsi drinker, and I wasn't really a carbonated beverage fan anyway (except for Sprite which I had to give up). But..there may be hope for you!! A friend of a friend who has the band does this...she pours her drink, and lets it sit for around 30 minutes until all the bubbles are gone. I know it won't taste great, but it may help with the craving. -
Water w/Crystal Light & Going to School/Work
TN_girl21 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 questions for anyone who can help me! When you mix your Water with Crystal Light, is that still considered drinking water? I have one of those 32 oz water containers that won't break. I filled it up yesterday to get at least half my water intake while I was out and about. For some reason I couldn't make myself drink the plain water. And this question may be stupid. I own my own shoe store & go to school. I will be in school all day Tuesday & Thursday, and working Wednesday & Friday (I'm closed on Mondays like the other shops where I am). So on the days I'm in school or at work (with no lunch break at school. I can eat when a customer is not in my store), what is the best lunch I can pack besides a Protein shake? And I wanted to thank all of yall for being so supportive to everyone!!! It has already helped me through this process and I'm only 6 days post op! -

Don't worry, I am! :smile2: I'm so scared of messing something up. I was just wondering how quickly others got to move on. -

Thanks yall! Raw veggies...I never thought of that. I love carrots and ranch dressing. lol Let me ask this....I have my one week check up tomorrow. My doctor has a post op diet of 1 week clear, 1 week full liquids, 1 week pureed/mushies and the 4th week solid food and your first fill. He already moved me up to full liquids early, do you think he could move me onto mushies quicker too if I'm healing well? -
Here's my opinion....I am 21, and am 6 days post op. My father offered to pay for this surgery as a high school graduation gift. I was 18. I am soooo happy I didn't do it then! Looking back, I know I would not have done what I needed to do! I think 13 and 14 is way too young. 17, 18? Maybe...if they prove they are very serious and 100% committed to their new lifestyle! Even me being 21, I know it will be so difficult when my husband and I go eat with our friends. I only have 1 overweight friend, but even the skinny ones don't eat healthy all the time. I know I will do what I need to do. I can't imagine having the peer pressure of being a teenager again. It will be very difficult for any teenager having this surgery.
-
I'm going to wait until I call the doctor. But I really feel like I could be on full liquids or even mushies, but I'm not going to push it. The reason I think I would be ok with full liquids a couple of days early is because my original 1 week check up was supposed to be on Tuesday, and they were going to move me onto full liquids. But it got moved until Wednesday. My body is telling me I need more.
-
Oh my gosh..!!!! I am 3 days post op and I want saltine crackers sooooo badly!!! I haven't eaten any, and I know I can't. I just need some motivation or ideas to get this craving out of me!
-
Do you think it would hurt me if I kind of mixed up full and clear liquids until Wednesday? Like do clear liquids, but have one yogurt a day? I'm scared to death of messing something up, but I'm so hungry!
-
Thank you, Denise!!! I may call him on Monday. I have to do one week of full liquids (yogurt, sf pudding, protein shakes, creamy soups) before mushies. I'm just ready for something besides clear liquids!
-
I'm slowly getting over this saltine cracker craving. lol Now I'm craving yogurt. I'm hoping the doctor will call me before my 1 week check up on Wednesday and clear me to move onto my full liquids. These clear liquids are just going straight through and I'm not getting satisfied.
-
Thank you, zobee!!! I will definitely try picture sardines on top of saltines! Surely that will do it! haha
-
Oh how I wish I could have yogurt! haha I'm on clear liquids for week 1, full/creamy liquids for week 2(this starts Wednesday), mushies for week 3, then on week 4 I get real food and I first fill. I drank some chicken broth and that's when I started craving the saltine crackers.

Being able to have children is one reason I was banded too! I have PCOS, and I know if I don't lose this weight, my husband and I will never be able to start a family! -

Vickie, I may not be able to give you as much as others because I am only 3 days post op. My family history sounds like your's. Although, I am only 21 years old. The reason I chose this surgery is because it will not do the weight loss for me, it is a tool. Unlike the bypass or the sleeve. The worst part of the surgery is the gas pains. The post op diet is hard, I won't lie. But right now I'm not feeling hungry, just dealing with head hunger (and craving saltine crackers lol). This website is a great place to learn anything and everything about the Band!! Everyone here is so supportive and will answer all your questions to the best of their ability. Good luck in your research and your decision!
