  1. I am doing good and you??? I hope all is going well your way! I also having been thinking about you. So when is your date? I am now on chopped foods and it is interesting trying to find out what you can and can't tolerate. So far I am able to eat most things but pasta and salad is a little hard. I can eat it I just have to do it very slowly and very small bites. I just this afternoon got sick on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I couldn't eat even half and then it all came back up so I guess I won't be eating that again. lol I have lost up to date 31lbs!!! I am so excited! :) Let me know how things are going for you!

  2. I just got home from my 2 week post op doctor appt. I lost 13 lbs on pre-op diet and it has been 2 weeks today since I had my surgery and I lost 10 lbs since surgery. I have to see the doctor again in 4 weeks.

    Hic-ups/burping

I was banded on Thursday the 5th and I also get the hiccups.
  4. My doctor also had me on a semi liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. I was able to have a slim fast high protein for breakfast and lunch then a lean cuisine for dinner. These were extras if I was really hungry 1 sugar free popsicle and 1 sugar free jello and 1 fat free yogurt. I would call your doctor tomorrow and find out. That diet is really important. Good Luck!!
  5. Noura my doc did not require me to stop smoking. I wanted to anyways and tried, but with that 2 week of hell diet before surgery there was no way. Not only was my food gone but my cigs too (that's what went through my head lol). Needless to say I didn't quit. Surgery went great and all but if you can quit I suggest you do. I heard you heal easier if you don't smoke plus it is better for surgery. Good luck!!
  6. That is AWESOME!!!! Good for you! You should be proud of yourself!!! Way to go! :tongue2:
  7. I had my surgery on Nov. 5th. My surgery was at 7:00am and was home by 1:00pm. Surgery went very well. The first 2 days was really bad with pain. I was on tylenol 3 with codene for 2 days. I haven't taken anything for pain since. I am still having a lot of pain by my port but it is nothing I can't bare. I am getting stronger everyday and able to move more and more. It does still hurt to breath but overall I am doing well. I am so glad I did it!! I am on liquids for 2 weeks and doing well with them. I am able to take sips of water and I am finally getting some broth and a little cream soup down. Jello doesn't sit right. I am not throwing up or anything you can just tell it doesn't feel right. I am getting a little hungry more frequently now and I think that is a good sign. Means I am healing. :smile2: I can only eat a little at a time but I am satisfied so that is good. I am not sure how long it is before I can lift over 20 lbs. I have a 1 year old that really misses his mama. I am not sure if it is just for the 2 weeks or longer. Oh and the walking really does help!! I really didn't have any gas pain. Walk as much as you can. Well thats about it. Good luck to all that have already had surgery hope you are healing well and to those that are getting ready to have surgery good luck and it really isn't that bad!! Best thing I ever did for myself!!!

    Not understanding

Thanks everyone for the advise. I am not so much worried about the weight loss for me right now but worried about it cuz I am so close to surgery and don't want my doctor to say not enough gone so I'm not doing the surgery. I don't think he will but it is a thought that I am worried about. Like I said I have been doing what I am supposed to. So I hope you all are right and it is just water weight. Thanks again :scared2:
  13. Ok, so here is the thing. I have been on this pre-op diet for a week and a half. My surgery is on Nov. 5th. I have followed everything to a tee, however I have only lost about 6 lbs. The diet that my doctor has me on is 2 protein shakes a day then 1 lean cuisine for dinner. They said expect to lose 10-20 lbs and I didn't even make it to the 10 mark. I don't understand. I have been so good on this. I have not cheated at all and have been very strict. Can someone please give me some advise? Thanks

    Not understanding

That is all I am drinking and lots of it. :scared2:
  15. Good luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers!!! Congrats!!!
  16. Noura......if you need someone to talk to or vent to I could lend an ear. :wink2: You really do need to talk to someone about this. I think it really helps. I am also going through everything. I am at the pre-op stage and my surgery date is set for Nov. 5th. Really if you need to talk or just need some support you can call on me. :cryin:
  17. PLEASE don't give up!!! You only have 4 days left. You are so close and you have come so far. I am also on the pre-op diet and yes it is hard at times but you just have to look back and think what do you want more to live the life you have been living (that you already weren't happy with do to the fact you are wanting the band) or a new start with a new you? For me I am tired of being fat! I don't want that life for me anymore. I want to be healthy. I am 31 and I want to be around for my hubby and kids. I was diagnosed with HBP at 22. I don't want to live on pills anymore. Just take it one day at a time. You will get through this!! I have faith in you. If you need to pray and God will give you the will. That's what I do!! :wink2: Again please hang in there you are almost there. If you need support I will be here for you to help you. Best of luck!!

    Sweet Taste in Mouth

I would rather have a sweet taste. I am also on the pre-op diet and I have a salt taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of. It drives me crazy and I still have 10 more days on this diet. Had it since the first day. It is always there and at certain times it gets worse. I was never really a salt eater plus I have HBP so I stay away from a lot of salt. Can't figure this one out.

    2-week pre op diet struggles

I am 3 days into my pre-op diet. It is a struggle. I am keeping myself positive and looking towards the end result. I take it minute by minute, hour by hour, and day by day. You are doing great!! Don't give up!! You are almost there. :blushing: I wish I was that far already but I will get there eventually. Congrats to you making it this far already!!
  20. As you know I am new here and just thought that I would share that I was approved for my surgery on Wed. and my surgery is set for Nov. 5th. I am so excited that I can hardly stand it. I am even excited about the pre-op diet that I will start on Thursday. I am on my way to a brand new me!!!!
  21. Van I just noticed you are also from Illinois. May I ask where you are having your surgery at? I am having my surgery in Oswego but my doctor is out of Winfield.
