Well, my name is Nicole McKinney and I live in Mayfield, KY. I am a single mother of one, a 2 year old little boy named Kaiden Jace. I am 23 and categorized as "morbidly obese" with a BMI of 43 when I started the lapband process. I started seeing a nutritionist/dietician, Rebecca Wright, at Murray Calloway County Health & Wellness Center in Murray, KY, about a 20 minute drive from my house, back in January. After seeing her for several months and working on ways to improve my eating habits, excercise habits, and stress relief methods I was finally able to have the band placed on October 8th, 2009 at about 11 am! I was so excited and so thankful for the opportunity to do this. I want to be able to run with my son and not be out of breath, have more kids and not be huge, and run with them too, live my life and feel good doing it. Most people that see me think I am not big enough to have the lapband, but I am. They aren't me and they don't understand how it feels in my body, how big I really am, more in some areas than others. I have severe arthritis in my knees and lower legs, sciatica in my lower back, and I am hypoglycemic. I hope that by having the band and losing this weight I will lower if not get rid of these health problems, and reduce the chance of gaining anymore that would be due to weight. I have several friends that have had the lapband and with great success. I am so excited and nervous about the future but I know that I have friends, a wonderful supporting family, and my doctor and office team behind me rooting me all the way to skinniness lol. :)
