  4. I am 8 days post-op. Ever since my surgery I have been in terrible pain under my left rib cage in my front and in my back. Have been to the emergency room - given heavy duty pain medication. Then saw my sugeon on day 5 and he took out the 3ccs of saline that was put in at surgery. No relief. I am supposed to be on soft Proteins and I have no desire to eat because I hurt worse afterwards. So...I go back to liquids... still in intense pain. Call the surgeon on day 7. He does not want to see me - thinks this is just post-operative pain. I have had several surgeries including a hysterectomy and a myomectomy. I know what post-surgical pain is - this pain is not that. My left side of my abdomin, under my left breast, is distended. I am really thinking about getting the band removed. I do not know much else to do and this has been a terrible experience for me. Has anyone else gone through this? Thanks, Lisa

I did not sign up for this!

Thank you so much for all of your kind replies. The support REALLY helps. I feel better since the 3 ccs of saline were removed. Still in alot of pain from gas under my left rib cage. Any miracles for this problem? Lisa
  6. I was banded on 10/28/09. I have had several previous surgeries and have come through them with no problems. So... I knew something was not right when the days following my surgety my DH was literally lowering and lifting me in/out of bed in order to go to the bathroom. At the most, I was getting down 2 Protein shakes a day and 1/2 bottle of Water. I was in extreme pain and felt like I had a lot of gas trapped under my left rib cage. Saturday night I call the on-call nurse and she advised me to go to the emergency room. There they gave me Fluid for dehydration, stong pain meds, and a CT scan. The scan was normal so after getting hydrated, was sent home. Miserable all day Sunday and this morning. Finally I call a co-worker who was banded in Feb. by a different surgeon. She told me that all the the pain I was in was abnormal. I mentioned that at surgery my surgeon puts in 3 ccs to start you out with. My co-worker flipped out when she heard this!! She told me that the reason I was so miserable is becaus I am too full. I got into the surgeon and the first thing he did was take the 3 ccs out. I feel better but but am very wearly of this whole process. Could anyone give me some words of wisdom? PS - now I can eat soft Proteins - any suggestions? Lisa
  7. I was banded yesterday. I am very sore - especially where the port was placed. Pain meds do not take away all of the pain. I am supposed to drink 5 Protein shakes today - can't imagine how I am going to get all of this down. Would love to hear form others about how sore they were and how long it lasted. Thanks
  8. Hi everyone! My name is Lisa and I live in Illinois. I am getting banded on the 28th of Oct. I can't wait for my "new" life but I also feel like I am giving up my best friend - food. I saw my surgeon for my pre-op yesterday and he was kinda discouraging. He told me how the band was the easiest of the WLS to cheat with and how he has had patients not lose weight. He stressed how it was all about the foods and liquids that I put in my mouth. I walked out of there worrying that I might be one of his patients that are not sucessful - not that I don't realize that I DO have to change the kind of foods that I eat. Just kinda bummed. :blushing: Lisa
