    Ice Cream Yet?

I have had regular ice cream, but only a VERY small amount. But what is really great where I live there is a local store that makes fat free, sugar free vanilla ice cream and it is to die for, it is such a great guilt-free treat!!!

    Big goal met!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! It is such a great feeling to reach a goal!! Keep up the hard work, before you know it you will have already reached your next goal!!!
  3. I weigh myself 3 times a day... when I get up in the morning, when I come home from work, and before I go to bed. I know, it seems obsessive, but it is how I keep myself on track and know if I need to work out harder !!!

Thanks for all of the encouragment. It has been almost 6 months since surgery. I have lost another 10 lbs. since this picture. It is funny how you don't really notice it on yourself until you look at a picture like this. Good luck to you all!!!!

    Progress

This is about 40 lbs. down.
  9. One thing that I always do right before or after a fill is say that I am having blood taken at the doctors office and I need to fast, or have no sugar, sodium...ect. And people usually seem to take that pretty well and not ask any questions. I think asking if you can bring something is a great idea, I know sometimes people insist on you just coming and bringing nothing, so maybe just bring something along that you know you will be able to eat.... Good Luck!!!
  10. I have a card that was sent to me by the Lap Band, it is great to have it with me incase there is ever an emergency. And yes, you can order from the kids menu, which is great!! It is usually still too much food, but it saves a lot of money if you go out... plus my husband likes the cheaper bill. You have to get the "serial number" from your band from you doctor and listed on the Lap Band website is a phone number to call. They will ask you your surgery date, doctors name, and for the number your doctor gives you. I had my card within a week.

    Red port incision???

I had my surgery in October of 2009, and had no redness at all. When I had re-adjustment surgery in January 2010, I had ALOT of redness around all of my incisions. My surgeon said that it is from the glue that they use, he said that some people are allergic to it, and it gets progressively worse. He said if I ever had to have surgery again to mention it so they would use somethin different. I can't think of the name of it, it was NOT dermabond. I think it started with an H. I also had ALOT of itching along all of my incisions.
  12. I was on 2 weeks of clear liquids, then on to 2 weeks of mushies. I didn't even want to think of having "real' food for probably 3 weeks after surgery. It's funny how it is so differnet for everyone though.
  13. Glad to hear you are feeling better!!! I haven't really been told how much to eat, just to learn that for myself!!
  14. The way that I measure my food is by using 1/2 cup to 1 cup ziploc plastic containers. If I have something like cottage cheese I will use the 1/2 cup size, Soup I will use the 1 cup. Everything I eat gets measured in one of these containers, I have found that it is the best way to measure what I know I can eat, they are really cheap too. More seriously....If you are having really severe stomach pains....GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!! Nobody knows how you feel better than you do, so if something doesn't feel right, you need to do something about it. I had similar problems 2 months ago and had to have surgery to re-adjust my band. It's not fun or convenient, but if something is wrong you need to get it taken care of. Good Luck....

    Food, Subs??

That is one of my favorite subs also!! I couldn't tolerate bread very well at first, but am about 5 months post op and I can eat about half of a 6" sub from subway. I would try just a plain piece of bread first and see how you handle it and go from there.
  16. So, I am VERY excited and noone gets it like all of you will!! :smile2: On January 27th I went to the doctor because I was having horrible stomach pains. After a bunch of tests, he decided that my band had slipped and admitted me right to the hospital for surgery to re-adjust it. It was not fun going through it all over again, but the pain was not quite as bad as the first time. I went yesterday for my first fill since surgery and I am so excited, it is great to have this feeling back!!! It was almost like something was missing for the past 6 weeks, and I feel whole again:cool: I actually still lost weight even without having anything in my band and my doctor was very happy about that. So I just want to let you all know how excited I am to be back in the game with all of you!!!

    Filled Again

My doctor actually said that it was from being really sick after surgery and coughing alot. I got sick when I was in the hospital and ended up with bronchitis and I have asthma too, which caused me to cough ALOT. I am just glad that everything is back to normal now.!!
  18. I stayed overnight, and it was planned. I ended up staying another night, because I had a fever of 105, and my blood pressure was REALLY high. I am glad that I stayed overnight because I think I would have been in too much pain and too uncomfortable to have gone home, plus I liked having the nurses and the extra care at the hospital.

    CPAP Machine

I was on a CPAP machine for 2 months prior to surgery but did not use it after the first 2 weeks of having it. I tried different masks, and different pressures. After my sleep study I was told that I had MINOR sleep apnea. The machine did not work for me, and I slept worse with it. I brought my machine to the hospital because the doctor told me to, but the nurses never made me use it. 2 weeks after surgery when I could get up and really move around good I brought it back to the place where I got it from. I know some people that use them and swear by them, but for me I couldn't stand the thing and was SO happy when I brought it back.

    Banded in october--updates please

I was banded on 10/26, Had my first fill on december 7th and have lost 18.5 pounds since surgery, and a total of 32.5 since June. I really started to feel restriction after my first fill. It is a big adjustment getting used to what and how much I can eat. I wish all of you all of the luck in the world, congrats on all the great progress so far!!!!

    Is salad a slider food?

I absolutely LOVE salads, but they are something that I am terrified to try to eat. I have this vision of the lettuce getting all sloppy, slimmy and stuck. Do any of you have a certain type of lettuce that you find easier to eat?
  22. I am also on a 2 week clear liquid diet, the times are different from Dr. to Dr. so don't worry that you have it wrong. My nutritionist recommended Nu Whey drinks, they have from 20 - 40 grams of protein per drink. You can get them at health food stores, or if you have a CVS pharmacy, they sell them there. They look like big shooters, and the taste is ok. A little pricey, but worth it to make sure you are getting your protein.

    Diet Soda's

I too was VERY addicted to diet soda, in fact that is the hardest thing for me not to have now. My doctors have told me the reason not to drink ANY carbonation is because it irrates your pouch, and the bubbles can actually cause your pouch to grow over time. Strangest thing I have been craving lately is a nice cold beer, but I just sip away at my crystal light :cursing: I really want to have a diet soda, or beer but I am not willing to lose everything that I have worked so hard for over the last 5 months. Be strong!!!
  24. I was banded last monday 10/26 and was crushing my vitamins and taking them, but was terribly disgusted by the taste of them. It felt almost like I was swallowing acid. So this morning I cut them up and took them, but I am getting the same feeling. I don't know if this is something normal with the band, because I am still getting used to it or what. I take a multi-vitamin, Vitamin D, and Calcium Citrate. Does anyone have the same problem?
