  1. Part 1:

    Hi Mary

I was the same way 2 weeks ago. I had decided that I was doing the gastric bypass but I could not sleep. My mother had it and it was successful for her but something told me that I am taking a bigger risk than I need to. I have baby boy and I couldn't imagine something happening and I'm not there for him. With any surgery runs risk but the cutting and re-attaching scared me. I kept thinking about how invasive it was. I search youtube and came across skymoon (something like that). She was motivating and lost a lot of weight with the lap-band?.

  2. Hi Laura..I 've really never thought of it that way "a gift to myself for the holidays". Send me a note when you hit -200lbs mark. Wow I am so proud of you. You are an inspiration.

    Thank you!

  3. Hi Mary,

Thank you for commenting on my blog. This is exciting. I am starting my liquid diet on October 26, 2009. I am glad to come across someone who is being banded in the same month as me. Keep in touch. :)

    BTW I'm 28 years old.

  4. Hi...I will be banded November 9, 2009. I'm almost 5'-11" and I weigh 313 lbs. For some reason, lately, all I can think about is how my stomach is going to look after the weightloss. I know it would look better than it looks now but I can't imagine all of this stomach disappearing. I've been told I carry my weight well but my stomach alone must weigh like 50lbs and I lost elasticity a long time ago. Surgeon said I will need a tuck but (kicking and screaming)---I don't want tooo. Anyone out there willing to talk about this?

I'm afraid of what my *belly* will look like after weightloss

Week 21 Post-Op....My First Real Bad Week...

I haven't been banded yet. I am scheduled for November 9, 2009 and my goal is 199 (115lbs). I came across your blog and I wanted to tell that you can do it. I think its maybe time to pamper yourself. If possible try finding a place where you can spend some time in a steam room or sauna. The process opens up your pores and allows you to sweat and release toxins. It might help your muscles rejuvenate and also jumpstart your weightloss again. Something I use to do in my healthier days. I wish you the best! Margarita

    10/14/09: I like to blog!!!

I really enjoyed your blog. It made me laugh because your mind seems to race like mine does. I have an addiction to caffeine. Particularly coca cola or coffee. Typically, I drink lots of water but every week I allow myself 1 coca cola and 1 medium coffee. I look forward, well, I actually plan my caffeine days. When I was pregnant, only during my 8th month, I would live to find coca cola. My family would call each other for the daily count "When Margarita went to lunch with you did she have coca cola?". LOL...Good thing was that I only wanted the fountain coke so that limited me to On the Run and Mcdonald or a diner. I plan to stop drinking anything with caffeine at the end of this week.

My surgeon does not take my insurance...what?!!!

Hi Idswims Thank you for your encouragement. This is certainly the year that I've learned that "Everything [does] happen for a reason"! * * * I meet my surgeon tomorrow. I can't wait. It's a 2 hour commute but I will be there!

My surgeon does not take my insurance...what?!!!

After 2 office visits with Dr. Cooperstone and completing all of the required "studies" I was told that he does not take my insurance. I was informed when I called today to follow-up with the progress of approval by the insurance company. She said "Your insurance has not responded". I said "When should I follow up?" She placed me on hold then said "Dr. Cooperstone does not accept your insurance." Oh, I cried my heart out. Luckily, another surgeon in that office said he accepted my insurance. I am able to keep my surgery date for November 9, 2009. I feel more comfortable with Dr. Gohil too. I haven't meet him but I have a good feeling. It's impossible to get the lap-band unless you really want because the process is so discouraging.
