Quarantine and Drinking
BayougirlMrsS replied to Slim_mommee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
two glass isn't going to make that much difference except it may chill you out faster.... and there are not rules that say you can't. You most definitely can. Where i would adjust is the mixers.... stay away from the carbonated drinks..... Beer, coke, soda, tonic, sprite... etc. I stick with wine, margaritas, rum and juice. If you want to be successful..... two things..... eat less and move more. Portion EVERY meal.... and exercise. Cals in = Cals out.... this time my BMI was 32 (5'2" 173.5).... today i weigh 128 bmi 23.4. i drink a glass of wine every day or so.... -
Lower BMI - Skin/recovery
BayougirlMrsS replied to rachedo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey.... Happy for you that your insurance will cover. Just an FYI: If you want to really make sure, gain 10 and that would put you at a 40BMI and you are a shoo-in. I did and would do it again and again and again. Back in 2009 i was at 223lbs... which put me at a 40 bmi but no co morbidities. So just to be on the safe side i put on 10. Approved in 3 days. Gain 10 to lose 89, yep yep. 5'2" began at 232. I was banded. Weightloss was slow and i hated that... then i realized that losing it slow was really a blessing. I has no problems with my arms, leg, but and even my boobs (44G). My problem was my stomach. I had 2 sections, hysterectomy, gallbladder at the time. Then the LB. My boobs went to a 36H. and so this is where i stayed for years..... at 143#. In 2012 i had a TT with MR and lipo on flanks. Then i lost my band due to a slip in 2017 and in 2.5 years i gained 30lbs. Hit menopause and everything went to crap. No matter what i did. So this past Aug. at 173.5lbs i had the sleeve done. I've lost weight pretty fast. I can see the sagging now in my arms and butt.... and i lost a couple of cups in the boobs.... now a 32FF. I say losing weight slowly worked i better for me the first time...... I am smaller than i was at my lowest with the band.... 143..... Today i weight 128 -
I lost about two cups....went from a 34H to a 32 FF thanks

Struggling some 7mo out why?!

Drinking with your meals is why you don't feel full.... The reason to not drink with a meal is to stay fuller longer. If you drink with your meal you are washing it down. The protein shake and soup will go right through and you will feel hungry again sooner. Try and eat more solid foods.... Breakfast: egg, bacon or Quiche, I eat a breakfast bar. Snack is good, cheese (not so much the crackers). Maybe switch the crackers to ham slices, cucumber slices. Lunch: i eat tuna, chicken or egg salad off the spoon. cheese cubes or chili, baked sweet potato..... I cook a few on Sundays and cut off about 2-4oz. Dinner: you will find that your less fatty foods will be dryer (turkey, pork, white chicken) and harder to digest. If i cook steak it has to be MR... Chicken is the dark meat. Don't eat the breadstick. I stick to the 1/8 cup protein, 1/8 cup veggie, 1/8 cup of other.... i eat in that order. 90% of the time i can't finish my plate. https://ccbariatricandsurgical.com/your-health/video/no-drinking-with-meals -
This is just my opinion.... the little amount of Bacon/sausage you will be able to eat, won't make that much of a difference. Yes it's high in fat, but you are only eating maybe one-piece... I would eat the meat before i would eat the potatoes..... lots of dr. put there WLS pt on a high fat, low carb diet... Kinda like Keto. I don't, i stick mostly to portion size. I stick to 1/8 cup of protein, 1/8 cup veggie 1/8 cup of "other". Breakfast is coffee and normally a breakfast bar. I like the Special K Pastry Crisps during the weekdays. On Sat/Sun my husband is normally home and i cook. Me: coffee and a 1/4 piece of Daves Good seed bread toasted well. Or one egg (fried), 1/4 piece of bacon and 1/4 piece of toast...(i never finish this). Lunch is tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad, left overs from the night before... if not to dry. Chili, baked sweet potato... Dinner is fish, steak, chicken.... with a veggie... Green beans, baby peas, baked S/potato,

If you have Alexia... you can tell her to play sounds.... i tell her to turn off in 30 min. I started not sleeping when i started menopause last year. My GYN gave me Ambien.... it works great, but it has side effects for some people. I for one ate in my sleep ..... and i like to put on fashion shows for my husband in lingerie.... hehe He Ambien shops on Amazon. Most of the time its for my benefit... as i have been bought lots of great stuff... hehe The trick is to put things in the cart... and bam .... hehe don't tell him. i was having trouble falling asleep and now when i don't take it.... i have night mares.....very vivid and i can remember every detail..... one night i dreamed about a nuclear attack and dreamed i was telling my husband about my dream while i was still dreaming....

did you get to ask your dr. why you can't eat those? It seems to me that all you use to eat, you should be able to eat. Except for the muffin. I would watch the halos, some times the skin is hard to digest... this is why i get them from the can or cup (no skin). Yogurt is good.... I don't really watch my carbs/sugar in the am and i will burn them off during the day.... this is why i have no worries about eating this yogurt.... I just can't stand the aftertaste in my mouth with the fat free or low fat ones.... https://www.liberteusa.com/products/

Gatric Bypass or Sleeve?
BayougirlMrsS replied to Buterflymomma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
DX GERD is definitely something that you should get your dr's opinion. I personally think all WLS have the potential to have issues specific to it, but lost have issues with GERD. Its because of what's going on in the stomach.... The stomach is either blocked off (band, which i had for almost 8 years, no GERD) or sleeve, BP and others where they are removing or manipulating the stomach.... and when you overeat, food has to go someplace, and if not down.... UP. And coming UP all the time because one can't control their portions is a problem. I found if you eat the right portions and avoid eating high acid food and late at night, the better you are Most people that had the band, sleeve, GB... etc will promote their SX. I loved the band and still do. She left me 3+ years ago and i miss her everyday. But the sleeve has been great too..... Both have their pros and cons. -
completely understandable... we all have our likes and dislikes..... what about grits? You may have to stick with smoothies.... Try the yogurt i suggested.... i hate all the others. This is the only one i like. What did you eat for breakfast before SX??

Gatric Bypass or Sleeve?
BayougirlMrsS replied to Buterflymomma's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
that's a question for your dr. Does he/she know you have GERD? Were you DX with GERD? Of course, not all patients will get GERD... I never got with band and so far not with Sleeve. Start with your Dr...... here and other site you ask this question you will get a hundred different answers.... -
Put a note on the fridge..... YOUR NOT HUNGRY... JUST BORED... its hard to find things when eggs are not an option. But i understand.... i'm one of the crazy people that HATES!!!! Tomatoes.... Do you like avocados?
-
i'm just curious as to why no meats for breakfast? Did he say why? I wasn't told that for either SX... Not the band or the sleeve. I eat bacon in quench. and i eat less than half a piece on the weekends. #1... sleeved 8/28/19... i averaged 2lbs per week. This is a revision for me, SW was 173.5, today im holding at 129 which is where i have been for about a month. I found that sometimes i would go a week or so at the same and then BAM.... loss... 2-3lbs.. #2... i do eat bacon and sausage and i eat ham and cheese roll-up sometimes for lunch. #3.. i wouldn't call it cheating. I call it a blip... Everyone has "blips".... it's all about recognizing them and stopping them. But i can also tell you the people that are just starting out eating chips, ice cream, candy from the beginning are the same that in a few years that will be on here saying....... My WLS didn't work..... I've seen it a thousand times..... I've been here since 2009... Start off correct.... and if your dr. says no bacon... he must have a reason. I don't like cottage cheese either.. yuck... I know you said NO eggs (most everything has eggs) or bananas.... how about oatmeal? I avoid pancakes and waffles... as they are not really good for you. How about peanut butter? How about pears? i eat them a lot. i also eat mandarins from a cup or can... I sometimes eat with ricotta cheese. I eat regular yogurt... not fat free, not low fat as i just don't like them. I love the Liberte' brand.... you have to look hard for them as they are not in every store... we have them in Krogers where i live. They are the best i ever ate....

Insurance verification
BayougirlMrsS replied to Dnise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My suggestion to you is to start the process yourself. Call your insurance provider and ask what the requirements for WLS if any. This can help get you in the right direction. My old insurance required a 35bmi w/2 comorbidities or a 40bmi. I didn't have any co's so i had to have a 40.... which i was just shy of back then. So before i even went to the seminar, i put on 10lbs. (gained 10 to lose 89... hell yes). I knew i would be approved.... My Dr. arranged all the appts. to heart, lung, phyc., sleep test, NUT... etc. After he got ALL the results back he submitted as one packet WITH a SX date. I was approved in three days. I had already researched the band for months before, but from the day i went to the dr and SX day it was around three months. I got my GYN to submit info on my health and weight gain over the years and i also has my logs from WW to show my dieting attempt. -
Revision - 4 Weeks In
BayougirlMrsS replied to Jessiejess1973's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You know someone was going to ask.... so i'm asking.... Why did you revise to GB? I org had the band for 8 years, went 3 years without any WLS, was sleeved Aug, 28, 2019. I did great with the band. 5'2" SW 232, got down to 143 and stayed there till my band was removed. then regained about 10lbs per year with no WLS..... So i got back to 173.5..... Today i'm happy to say im at a steady 129. I was a slow loser the first time and still think im a slow loser, but i have to say the sleeve was faster in comparison. Hope you are feeling great. 18lbs in 4 week is just amazing.... keep up the great work. -
she is 12 now.... won't wear that stuff anymore. I miss them both... Elizabeth (GD) now lives in San Antonio with my son (military & CRNA student) DIL and Grandson. I would love to have another dog. But until Rona came we traveled a lot and i work 30-40 min from home and she would be in the house from 6am-5pm or later..... and that would not be fair to a dog. I walked heidi at least three times a day.... am, noon (id go home everyday) and night... I miss her a lot.

i knew i knew that fabric...... My grand daughter when she was about 3-4.... That was my dog Heidi.... i miss her. She stayed with the ex when we divorced.

Just feeling sorry for myself..
BayougirlMrsS replied to BoredFatGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Words of encouragement:... TODAY IS A NEW DAY, MAKE BETTER CHOICES. Remember how far you have come. and that you did that, you lost 50lbs. Get your kids and husband involved, have them write little notes and put them in a jar... and every day, pull one out and read it so that everyone can hear. Take your before pictures... This is a "pause" not an end... Your ending is still unwritten.... -
Wondering WHY I did it!
BayougirlMrsS replied to IAmGrace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I call is "wantpower"..... I want to be healthy. I want to be at a healthy weight. I want to be able to enjoy life. I want to play with my grandkids. I want to fit on a plane seat. I want to ride the rides at an amusement park. I want to not have to take all the meds. When i was first banded back in 2009, i felt the same way. I was a slow loser. I said "i only lost"...... hundreds of times. Then some friends said, but chris, have you ever been able to keep them off? Well that was a big NO..... With WLS i was able to keep them off for YEARSSSSS..... Then i lost the band and put back 30lbs. So i had the sleeve. I started at a low weight of 173.5 back August 28, 2020. Today, i'm at 128-129. A few things that help me. I know it's hard to do, but you have to stop comparing yourself to others, even your sister. We are all different. We all gained weight differently and for different reasons. This is your journey and no one else's. Trust in the process and it will happen.... I wrote on my mirror where i started as a reminder of how far i came.... SW: 232lbs (2009) Size: 18-20 pants 2x-3x shirt 44H bra. Today: CW: 129 Size 4 pants, sm-med shirt 32FF bra. Then i write words of encouragement on the mirror and on the fridge.... This week's words for me: TODAY IS A NEW DAY, MAKE GOOD CHOICES. (dry erase markers) I surround myself with positive people. If someone is negative around me, i just walk away... don't need that in my life, don't need that negativity coming into my heart and head. TAKE PICTURES!!!!! if you haven't already... take them. take your measurements also. Then once a month retake your pictures and measurements. You will be amazed. I still don't see a size 4... I see size 10-12. But pictures don't lie. -
@Bastian maybe you should go back and read where all this started. Some of us tried giving her advice and she basically told us to F off. Some of us come here dishing out medical advice, which we should not. We do give our thoughts and suggestions. And when she was questioned on a few things that didn't add up... we were met with animosity. I was not rude nor did i say anything that wasn't the truth. I shut up when she said...... I didn't ask for advice. So she is a non issue to me. We'll hear from her again when she fails and blames the sleeve. Seen it hundreds of time.
