Am I Missing Anything?/recipes
BayougirlMrsS replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So yes the Soup has pieces in it, i just had them give me as much broth and as little pieces as they could, they were happy to help. I did the same with other Soups too. Jenc.... Everyone is different. They're people here that can eat anything in small amounts and chewing well. And then they have "most" of us that have trouble with some foods. I have the 14cc band and i have 10.5cc's in it now. I was up to 10.9 but some evaporated over time... or so the dr. said. At first i could eat anything, bread, rice, spaghetti, all fruit, ... Here are a few things i can't eat anymore... again, this is just me.... Bread, rice, grits, steak, over cooked Protein (dry chicken..etc), no leftover protein (so if i go out to eat i can eat the leftover soup or veggies, but not chicken..) I have not had a hamburger with two buns in almost two years, no hot dog on bun, no pizza crust (i can eat toppings), I can eat potatoes, Pasta (but not spaghetti), most fruit (but not pineapple, apples, or the out side of oranges), I can eat mixed greens but not iceberg lett., My weaknesses are still chips, ice cream, and candy. i can still eat all those. I still do drink one can of mt. dew a day..(the smallest can they make takes me all day). I never eat and drink at the same time. The Ice cream, i buy the small blue bell individuals and have one when i get the urge... which is about once a week. One candy bar will last me about 3-4 days, i take a bite and put it away. Chips i buy the 100 cal bag or the sun chips. This is what my day looks like: Breakfast normally i eat crackers (crunchmaster whole grain) and cheese (mini baby bell) with coffee. Or on the weekends i eat one scrambled egg and coffee. lunch i mostly eat salad or soup, veggies, crackers, cheese. Snack something crunchy or small bag of chips fruit or a smoothie. dinner sometime i'm eat a bowl of Cereal (not supposed to but i do), chicken, seafood, veggies. NEVER eat buffets any more and if we go out, i ask for a go plate to be brought out with my meal. I pack 90% of it away before i take a bite. I can ramble all day, but ill stop here... Good luck -
Body Dysmorphia
BayougirlMrsS replied to khath0620's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
wow.... i'm not the only one. What's funny for me is twenty some... years ago i was thin. Like size 0 thin.... I kept getting fatter but i never saw it in the mirror.. it wasn't until i didn't recognize myself in a photo that i saw my true self. I saw a 223 pound person....i couldn't believe i allowed myself to get that big. Now that i'm getting small.... I now still see my self as the big person i had become. My husband and i had a huge fight at lunch because i want a TT and he says i don't need it.... but i know i do.... The female brain.... wow. -
Am I Missing Anything?/recipes
BayougirlMrsS replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate the hell out of AppleBees cream of broccoli soup.... omg it's good. And the same soups Xavier ate. Those are very good. I also blended Peanut Butter in my shakes. I also bought the frozen fruit in a bag from Sam's and used those to make smoothies. It's a huge bag of mixed precut and skinned fruit... ready to go. Yogurt too... and don't be so hard on your self when your going thru this process. I cheated with a few chips... i just could help my self. It was in the first week and i was eating with friends at a Mexican place and ate a few..... but i did great the next week and really that's the week that really counts. I told my doctor and he laughed... and said i'll be fine. Remember the first few months are the hardest. Be Prepared to self monitor. No restriction and you will be hungry. You may find that you can eat anything, but don't, push away. I remember thinking... i'm not supposed to be able to eat this much.. the nurse and doctor said so. So when i went in he again laughed and said, you have no fill in your band, this is why you can eat. But as time goes by it will get tighter and some of the things you can eat now, you wont be able to later....and it was so true. So the best of luck to you and your new journey.... -
Co-Worker Wants To Have Lap Band
BayougirlMrsS replied to blondiepierce's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sunshyne..... everybody and everyone's doctor is different. What i can or can't eat won't be the same for you. But they have guidelines you should try to fellow. For example: I can't eat bread, biscuits, pizza, rice, girts, steak, anything Protein that has been "overcooked" I don't do well with leftover protein either. Lett us gives me trouble, but not mixed green... crazy, but true. Last night i tried to eat a shrimp boulette....got stuck till 1:30 this morning. I do well with: wendy's chili, loose ground beef (not extra lean), seafood and shrimp if i chew well, Soups, Pasta but not spaghetti... soft fruits..strawberries, grapes, blueberries.... etc. not not pineapples, apples, bannanas unless they are smashed, the inside of oranges not the husk have to spit it out. Veggies are great except celery that is not cooked. Remember, i'm two years out and all this is trial and error.... for the first few months i could eat just about anything..... But as the band get tighter, then you will find what work and what does not work for you. Also, the first few months i find are the hardest. No restriction and you will have to "self monitor" meaning even thou you can eat, you will have to back away on your own..... Good luck with your band and i hope you all the success in the world -
Co-Worker Wants To Have Lap Band
BayougirlMrsS replied to blondiepierce's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I say... good for you for stepping away from this situation. Is she going to the same dr. you used? Is she using you as a referral? If so, i would have to go a step further and have a conversation with him/her about your concerns about her and how you don't want what she does to reflect badly on you. -

Advice Please!!!! To Tuck Or Not To Tuck
BayougirlMrsS replied to bandstarr430's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Star... i went two weeks ago for a consult. $8800.. You should really talk it over with your PS. I'm old (43) and can't have any more kids (two boys 27 & 20). Both via C-section. Plus i had a hysterectomy and gallbladder removal... plus the LB... so my stomach is full of scars..... but i'm glad that i don't have any stretch marks except by my pubic area... PS told me that for having the WLS I have done really well. Most of the people have huge amounts of extra skin. He said he could tell i lost it slow and that i exercised along the way. But, he said no amount of exercise or sit up, crunches... would ever make my apron go away..... so... Looks like feb. 17th i will be getting it cut off.... Good luck with what you decide.... -
just want to say congrats to the both of you. If you listen to your doctor and fellow the rules you guys will do great. so impressed with you both for making a life changing decision at a young age. I wish my niece could have this..... She lives every being ridiculed about her weight and it just kills me. She the sweetest kindest person and I just love her to death.... Good luck and hey..... Koodles to your parents for giving you this wonderful Gift of a brighter future.

one of the things i regret is not taking pictures along the way..... This is crazy.... but one of the happiest days.... buying "regular" underwear from Victoria Secret... and not having to buy "just my size" (aka the granny panties). Start now making dates with your wife. Just you and her. Your lives together is going to change... some will be good, some bad. Start re-courting your wife. And don't forget to tell her how beautiful she is every day. I know this sounds strange, but we women are a strange bunch and desire attention. She will lose weight and men will notice and she will like the attention.... so Amp up your game. Lots of people get divorced after one or two in the relationship have WLS. I'm not trying to scare you, but it's a fact. All the best of luck to you and your lovely wife...

Joyce, we are the same except i choose soup a lot. and I too can't eat Lettuce.... but i can eat the mixed greens... crazy. Japanese... i eat the snow crab salad...omg. Another thing i do is i pack away 3/4 of my meal before i take the first bite. This way i won't be tempted to eat too much. I then give the leftovers to my son or my husband.... I don't do well with left overs.
-
Ok.... two years out... started at 223, now weight 145. 18-20 to now 8 (some 6) with the TT i could be around a 4.... The PS i talked too said he does plenty of LB patients and his rule is (for the most part) You weight has to be as the same point or with in a couple pounds for at least six months. I have been at 143-146 for over that. To do the TT it's going to cost me $8900. I really wanted to do the boobs too... but that's another 5-6k.... not in the budget just yet.... i'm trying for Feb. 16th. Good luck!!!

5 Years Worth Of A Primary Care Physician Letter???????
BayougirlMrsS replied to change's topic in Insurance & Financing
Your GYN would have records of your weight. Do you go every year for that? and before you do, check with the insurance provider. Just because it's the same insurance, if they work for different companies, then the coverage may not be the same. I have BCBS of Louisiana and my employer is small and they don't cover my fills..... so i have to pay $235 each fill.... this is why i only go once a year. and the fact that his Office manager is a total B...h. -
How Much Did Your Weight Float Over The Holidays To Today?
BayougirlMrsS replied to JWKJR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
gained 3 ...... still around But i started a MMA strength and condition class, so I think i maybe gaining muscle. cloths are fitting better. -
Wow.... i can't believe how badly some of you are behaving..... I also know of a few people who "self fill". For the very reason she has. They went down to Mexico and no doctor will see them. Desperation makes people do and think of doing thing they would normally not. I my self would If i had too.... HELL YES. If i had to fill myself to stay thin.... WERE IS THE NEEDLE AND SALINE...!!! And you all no DANG well you would do the same to stay thin... don't even try and kid yourselves... Most every one of us have come in here and asked CRAZY questions..... That's what a forum is for... just in case you all didn't know that..... So .... Lynette.... if you feel comfortable doing it... it's your body and I pray that everything keeps going well.... On another note.... maybe a support group would be able to connect you with a RN that could do it for you...

I agree with Xavier.. This does not sound health for the long term. I would do some research and get with your doctor. -
Did Anyone Else Have To Follow Eating "schedule" Weeks 2 And 3?
BayougirlMrsS replied to horsegirl315's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow... this is why i come on here, everyday it's something new. Mine was like kristy.... I'm also interested in knowing if this if the doctor or Nutr.? Good luck with all that.... -
I started a MMA strength and conditioning class at my gym about three weeks ago. Lots of jogging on your toes, push up, sit up, sumo squats.... etc. I really like it. I find i do better in group settings. On my own, i tend to cheat myself. In a group, can't, someone is always watching. And it makes you want to push yourself to keep up. When i first got my band in 2009, i didn't exercise except walking for the first few months. My weight loss really slowed down. Then my husband said, you had this surgery to lose weight, but your not taking full advantage of it by not exercising...... so I started a Zumba class and doing the elliptical..... and the weight started coming off. What ever you do, be safe and don't cheat your self. You will do great.

The Ten Commandments Of The Lap Band....
BayougirlMrsS replied to Knaroz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love your post..... it always amazes me that i started at 223 and got the large 14cc band, and other who's weight is more, got a smaller band. I think Elcee is right..... someone wants too...."connect". Anyway, keep up the great work. -
-
i drink the MM lite..... and i love them..... they have a new one call Latte..... yummmmmyyyyyyy they are great after a work out
-
Depends on the doctor. My main doctor places a round pillow behind my back and i never had any problems. Now the other doctor in the office makes you do a crunch.... and he does hurt.
-
sometimes it does... depends on how your dr. does it. My main dr. does not hurt, but the new dr. did...

Here A Scale, There A Scale, Everywhere A Scale Scale!
BayougirlMrsS commented on mags2u's blog entry in Is that a Fat Joke?
Congrats..... now don't get discouraged when that weight loss evens out in the next few weeks. The next couple months are the hardest. You may get on the scale and have none to very weight loss. This is because you have little to no restriction in your band. This is when your will power will be challenged the most. I could eat most anything and a pretty good bit of it. When i realized this .... these are some of the things i did. Not saying this will happen but if it does...... I stayed away from buffets and all fast foods. Lets face it, they are two of the reasons most of us gained weight in the first place. When I went out, i tried to order soup or if nothing appealed to me i ordered and i told the server to bring a go box when my meal was brought. I immediately packed away 75% of my food and only left what my portion should be on the table. Do not reopen the box...... Refuse the drink.... the server will look at you as if you have an alien on your face... would you like water.... you say... no thanks. You will have to get use to this. Better start from the get go. Practice taking a bite and putting your fork down... remove it from your hand. This will help you get use to eating slowly and to chew your food till it is mush in your mouth. Put the scale (aka the Devil) in the trunk of your car..... i know this sounds crazy. But if its there you will stand on it. Exercise..... i can't stress this enough.... i started walking and then Zumba... When i first started i couldn't do 30 min on a threadmill, and about 5 min on the elliptical. Take it slow, but move as much as you can. Oh and muscle milk lite.... Latte..... yummy wishing you all the success in the world.... -
