My insurance doesn't cover therapy. My regular Dr. put me on Imeprimine (sp?) and banned me from counting carbs or weighing for a week hehe. So today I'm going to do nothing weight wise. For 7 days I'm going to eat when I'm hungry... I'm going to enjoy a baked potato with cheese and sour cream.. I may even have a few M&Ms!

I can't eat anything that has been re-heated! This is costing a small fortune. meats are the worst too, they dry out so bad that even steak sauce won't get them down. Has anyone had this problem and found a remedy?

What's the worst thing someone said to you?

"I thought you were going to lose weight with that thing." That's after dropping 40 lbs too! -
Has anyone tried appetite suppressants along with their band??
Kynekke replied to Connorsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did take Phentermine for 3 weeks to get off of a plateau... I got off of it and ALL the weight came back on! The Dr. had told me that Phentermine + the band was safe, no weight gain when you get off of it but I put mine back on. 6lbs off in 3 weeks and then only 5 days to put all 6lbs back on. -
Do you think Celebs & other famous people have Lapband surgery?
Kynekke replied to JLB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wonder about Barbara Jean off of Reba... she either had the band or GBP to lose that kind of weight over the off-season. I know that Ann Wilson was a big supporter of the lapband after her surgery, she's one of the singers from Heart. -
I'd almost say get a slight unfill and see if that works for you. Other than that I'm not a lot of help, I've been stuck since Oct 1st for no reason whatsoever. I do know that when I was too tight I couldn't eat anything but carbs (mashed potatoes) so I went and got a small.. like .2cc unfill and things started looking up.

I know 60 lbs seems like a lot in 7 months but that all happened from Jun - Oct and I stopped losing then I'm can't seem to get out from the 245-250 lbs range.

Wow! I had no idea about Mexico banding.

Dr. Kuri ran me through a TON of tests! I had blood work, EKG, full physical etc etc. This was done the day before surgery and he had also been known to send people home without surgery if something didn't look right. -
Sorry about the grammar, 1 hand typing so shortening it. Long story short... had surgery on Friday on my right elbow, I am NOT ambidextrous! 6 hours from home at my parents house so they can help me and keep my kids.. hubby has mandatory overtime for 2 weeks. Mom is fat too, had failed "stomache stapeling" about 25 years ago. We are now the same size and she gives me TONS of praise about weight loss. By lunch she had offered me fudge, banana bread, choc. cherries and divinity, I turned them all down and reminded her that I am trying to lose weight. Take a nap and Mom and my kids are gone when I get up. They come home from the store and brought me a treat... 3 kit kats! Not 1, but 3! Mom says "I know about the band but these are your favorites" :hungry: ok ok, turned those down too. I cannot keep this up! My willpower is shrinking. This woman put me on a grapefruit juice and vinegar only diet when I was 10 to "help" and now I realize why with all of the diets she put me on as a kid I never lost weight. I'm so at her mercy until I get out of this cast. Ugh... must resist... 7 days til DH comes to save me. :help:

Just a thought... are you extremely picky about the quality of food you eat now that you are banded? I don't mean just high Proteins and low carbs picky but picky about the cheapy foods hehe... Stick with me here... pre-band the bites were big and 2 chews were sufficient, you could have put a fish bone in a hamburger and we wouldn't have noticed right? Now that the bites are pea sized and chewed extremely well, I'm finding myself locating chewy "things" and hard "things" and "OMG what was THAT" things inside food. :bananapartyhat: I was in the middle of that big Colorado storm over Christmas and with 2 kids we HAD to stop and eat fast food. I decided on the meat only from a McDonalds hamburger and EEEEEW, there was something in it that was NOT hamburger and I only noticed because of the extensive chew session. Odd thought... I'm bored so figured I'd bring it up

Oooh I hate that time! I find myself completely hungry all the time and for sweets. The thing I do may not be right but I purchased some Pria Carb Peanutbutter Bars and during PMSy times I eat one. They are VERY sweet and chocolatey but have fiber and protein so I don't quite feel as guilty. *hugs* It'll pass I promise and I'm a firm believer that, especially during PMS, weight will come on but you can take it off when control is regained!

Thanks for all of the posts! I spoke to my Mom about it and she admitted being an unconscious enabler and admitted that being from the South, people feed everyone. Sooo... the next day she made a huge new batch of peanut brittle and was nice enough to break it into small pieces and hand me a bowl. *sigh* Soo... this is what I did. She went to take a bath and I snuck a piece of peanut brittle from the big bowl so she wouldn't know I did it and it was SO good! After having my small taste of the candy I found it was a LOT easier to turn it down when she offered and with her not knowing I stole some, she didn't win LOL Maybe not the best way but it's kept me off of sweets for 24 hours now.

When I reach -100 lbs I get a new pair of Ropers! Havent had any since just out of High School.

That's great!! Congrats

I had my re-fill yesterday and I was right, the last Dr. that was supposed to remove .2cc's removed all of it! This Dr. put me back up to 2.1cc's (I was at 2.4cc before and wanted .2 removed). Anyway... all of a sudden I can feel my band and it's annoying! I don't remember feeling my band when I had my first 2cc fill, seems like I may have felt it a tad just after surgery. Anyway, just feels like... well... plastic heh. It comes in waves, so for 5 min or so I can't feel it and then I start feeling this plasticy poking feeling that starts to hurt a little then goes away. Is this normal?

Anyone have Dr. Kuri in TJ Mexico?
Kynekke replied to battleweary's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I LOVED Dr Kuri! I have never met someone who cared so much about my weight loss success. His hospital is nicer than anything I have ever seen and his staff is fabulous... he even had a Dr from California there that he was training.. Dr. Miller. If you have more questions feel free to PM me. -
Welcome! The liquid diet I was on was a Liver Shrinking... during the surgery your liver may have to be moved a hair and overweight people tend to have large livers that bleed easily. I kept it on a "Need to know basis" just my parents, hubby and best friend know. I think my co-workers are guessing that something is up but no one has asked.

Mine took a drastic digger, I lost a ton! I noticed that now I'm losing band size but not cup size though.
-
"You lose bits of food in your cleavage." OMG SeattleEbeth.. that one shot water out my nose... mustn't drink while catching up on my reading.

You panic when you hear about an earthquake and check to make sure you weren't jogging at that time.

My first fill I had 12 sticks... it was my first fill and I didn't know that was abnormal but it took 2 hours and I was SCARED to death that she'd punctured but she didn't. I do know that I had to sign a form that they weren't responsible if they did puncture the tubing so check the forms before you sign and see if that's a stipulation. BTW, my last 2 fills have been 1-4 stick.

I was paying more attention last night when I got home (hard to concentrate at work) and I'm noticing that it's gone for about 5 min then comes on light to strong to light and gone again. It still feels like a pokey plastic feeling and it's right where my stomache is I think.. ok my anatomy isn't that good. It's right under my left breast right where my bra band is. Just curious.. this doesn't sound like a slip does it?

Some good, quick, healthy breakfast ideas??
Kynekke replied to dawnslapband806's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
One easy thing I have for breakfast is the Dannon Crave Control yogurt (they add protein and fiber to it) and then I add some grapenuts for crunch... it's very filling and yummy and FAST! -
I saw Dr. Muse last night in Salt Lake and I am VERY impressed!! He was so kind and thoughtful, he listened to all I had to say and seemed genuinely concerned. He tried 2 pokes and couldn't hit the port so we went and got Fluoro. I give him a thumbs up

1. I can eat about 3/4 of a cup I've noticed 2. I don't drink, empty calories 3. Yes... the rule of thumb I've heard is to eat your Protein first then enjoy your carbs! I notice that I am almost full off the protein but I still get 2 or 3 bites of the yummy carbs. 4. I wonder that too... even when I had a 2cc fill I could feel the food go straight through..
