What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
Kynekke replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sick to my stomache... that's all really. They must have given me something because I threw up a few times then went back to sleep. Next thing I know I was in my bed and just really groggy. I couldn't even feel the band (though I thought I would) and it felt like I'd done about 50 sit-ups, sore tummy. -
Awwww that is so sweet!

I went searching and couldn't find the website you spoke of... can you re-link this website? I need protein supplements!

I'm trying so hard to convince myself that 70 lbs is all I'm going to lose. I'm still morbidly obese and very unhealthy but I am better than when I started. If I can convince myself that 70 is it... no more.. then I can move on with my life and stop stressing out over the yo-yo'ing of the 3lbs I've lost and gained for months. I cannot get past 238 lbs.. I've tried phentermine, I've tried atkins, I've tried all I know to try and I still can't drop below 238. I really was hoping to at least break out of the 200's with the band but I do think my life would be easier if I'd just live with the 70 (sadly, only 69lbs) that I've lost. :think

Just curious if you think its best to eat until you are full or if you just eat until you aren't hungry. I've been debating since my last fill because I have real restriction, something I haven't had before. So if I eat until I'm not hungry, I eat less at one sitting but will I be hungry sooner? If I eat until I'm full though will it really stick longer? Heh, hope that's not confusing.. just curious what your thoughts are on it.

To start... everything I eat is tracked by fitday, I drink PLENTY of Water and get my required Protein. I walk every day except Sunday and I weight every single day (telling me not to won't help btw, I'm obsessed). Long story short... I stopped losing in October. Someone here suggested I take a break from dieting and see if that worked. Over the next week I lost 5 lbs! I was eating ice cream and pudding, naughty things. After that week and 5lbs I went back on "good" bandster food... gained 7 lbs that next week. :phanvan I started eating a ton again (1800-2000 calories) and lost that 7lbs and maintained for a few months. No losing, just maintaining. 3 weeks ago I decided to drop my calories back down to 1200... I gained 3 lbs in a week. The following week back to ice cream and carbs, I lost that 3 lbs and maintained for the 2 weeks after. Yesterday... 900 calories... today... 1lb Gain. What's up with that??? 1800 calories I maintain, 900-1200 calories I gain... I cannot go above 1800 calories, I already have to eat all day to get that 1800 in. What do I do? I'm TIRED of being 240lbs... it's been forever since I've lost any (no inches either, I check those monthly) and I don't know what to do. I think my restriction is ok, hot liquid only in the morning, mushies by noon and anything for dinner. I usually eat about 1/4-1/2cup 6 times a day to maintain that 1800 calories. ONE bad day of eating under 1800 calories and I gain. I'm afraid if I get another fill or do anything that will drop those calories that I'll start going back up and won't stop until I get back above 300lbs. What do I do??? I'm SO frustrated! :help:

WOW you look amazing!! Congrats

I don't see my weight loss either. In fact I made a before/current picture to post on the boards and once I looked at it I threw it away. I've done the superimposed image and I SEE how much I've lost by placing myself now and in June over each other and dimming the current one but when I just see a picture... nada... and I try to avoid the mirrors or, like Barb, I'll cry.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid or known as Tonalin
Kynekke replied to priscilla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So how is the CLA going? It's been a while since the lastest updates. I started on it this morning so we'll see. I read the bottle though and it said 1 capsule (1000mg) 3 times a day with meals... anyone else done this and seen results or is everyone else taking 5000-6000 a day? -
surgery 3 months ago. problems just last night
Kynekke replied to buzzp's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree to call your doctor. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you aren't getting enough water in? Or that you are experiencing what most of us do and are stuck with liquids only in the morning, soft mushies for lunch and a solid dinner. -
One trick is to weigh more in the first place. Hate to say that but I lost a TON at first but I started out at 307. Hang in there though... remember to eat your protein first then the carbs, drink more water then drink some more. Good luck!

Tax Question for LapBand
Kynekke replied to Chris61's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow, I have no idea! I used TaxAct.. filled out how much I'd spent in medical this year and it did the math for me heh. -
I have been coming home for lunch but my job changed and now I'm stuck at the office! I eat Breakfast there already because I'm in at 5:30am but now I need to find easy lunches too. Has to be mushies almost or I PB and I have access to only a microwave and a fridge. I can only eat sooo many potatoes.. any other cheap and easy ideas for lunch? heh, I never knew how nice it was to grab a sandwich.

Ugh... makes me appreciate my $9K bill with no insurance hassle hehe

My tummy growled SO bad those few few days!! Ugh it was awful but my kids thought it was funny. It quieted down when I started on Soup BUT then when I got my first fill! Wowser.. it started gurgling loud. I was paranoid about it but kept asking my hubby and he said at home he could hear it but in a restaurant he couldn't, too much background noise. The gurgles are the sounds of food going down through the stoma and air has to come back up. It's a small price to pay though I think Wait it out though.. those loud growls will get better.

Did any of you see this show on TLC last week? I Tivo'd it and watched it yesterday... how sad is that! Granted 3 out of the 4 ate just under 10,000 a day but that one poor man was eating 36,000 calories a day. I felt so bad for the first man they mentioned, he had no desire whatsoever to quit and when showed the amount of food he consumed in a day he sat down to start eating it It does make me glad that I stopped when I did and got help, I hope the one woman that weighed 367 will get some help soon, at 10,000 calories a day she'll soon be bed ridden. ETA : It's on again Feb 18th on TLC at 7pm (EST) and Feb 19th on TLC at 2am (EST).

Course.. the one guy that his family cooked for used a bucket for delivery at 2am. He'd lower the bucket to the street with money in it and the delivery guy would grab the money and leave the food in the bucket. That made me sad, that means his family didn't even have a chance to intervene but I'm not sure they would have anyway.

How have I missed this thread?? I was banded on June 1, 2006. Yay I have a new home! Great to meet you all.
-
I have the 9.75 too and thought it was odd, I weighed in at 307 so my stomache couldn't have been that small! I'm with the others.. the first 50 went fairly quickly and now it's creeping slowly and I still have 80 lbs to go!
-
I myself am frustrated with the lack of weight loss as are a number of people on these boards... maybe this will help. Tanya
-
That was a HUGE thing for me to give up! Something about hot food and a cold drink.... mmmm.... 7 months out and I still miss it and I count down my hour after eating until I can have a nice cold drink. BUT getting in to an 18/20 shirt this morning when I was in a 28/30 makes it all worth it.

Kynekke replied to My_o_My's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Medic Alert ID or not?
Kynekke replied to anonemouse's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Where are you getting them and yes, what's on it? -
Since I got banded I've been a basket case. I was a VERY happy 300 pounder, I stopped dieting in 1999 and was enjoying life. My kids prompted the band, keeping up with them that is but my mental health has taken a digger. Since getting banded I stress over everything I eat.. it's like being stuck on a diet that I can't quit. I find myself snappy with my kids too =( I know that I've lost 60 lbs already... but nothing since Oct 1st has me even more stressing about everything. Nothing I can do will break this 60lb mark!! I track everything I eat, I count carbs and Protein and Water... I walk... nothing!!! Someone always asks... I'm not losing inches either. I havent been on anti-depressants in ages.. well.. since I swore off dieting. If you were me what would you do?? Would you seek out some anti-depressants, some Phentermine? Maybe get the band out... shorter life but at least I was happy you know? Is anyone else healthier but mentally worse since getting the band??

I'm eating and eating and eating and guess what! I started losing again... soooo confusing but I'm excited!!!
