Question! **warning: Kind Of Gross Questions!!**

The gurgling noise is part of the deal and will reside after a while but if you`re having the run then you need to see your Dr. Good luck, hun. -
How Often Are You Drinking?

Keep drinking throughout the day or whenever possible. Good luck, hun. -
Uncomfortable Feeling.....
kcg replied to nat_alcala's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2yrs into my journey, I still occassionally experience that feeling. Instead of drinking water, if you leave it for a few minutes, it goes down. This is provided the bite was small and you had chewed it well. There is a difference between that tight feeling and a stuck though, so be mindful. Good luck, hun. -
It`s extremely difficult when one feels like she is not being supported by a spouse. However, they did not make a decision to change their lifestyles, we did. Therefore, the altimate responsibility rests with us. Instead of relying on him for the shopping to be done, why don`t you take on that responsibility since it would give you an opportunity to exercise as well. We are also alright with eating in restaurants. It all depends on what you order and as others have already mentioned, it`s up to you to monitor what goes into your mouth. Your spouse has no control over that. Sorry if I don`t sound sympathetic but I feel that not assuming the victim role is a start to winning this difficult battle that we are fighting. Good luck with your journey which could be won despite the difficulties hun.

no motivation! gained weight!
kcg replied to mila86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Come on hun, just put your clogs on. You can get rid of the extra lbs just as you did the first time round. My advice would be for you to go for an adjustment if you have not done so recently and get some exercise in. I feel like this is an advice I should consider myself since I am not doing so brilliantly after having my fill reduced some months back. I have however, made an appointment for a fill next week and intend to get my act together. Slips happen unless you are an angel. It`s what you do about them that matters. Own your situation and deal with it, of course with support. Should you want to, I could go into a challenge with you. Let me know. -
I was also not able to eat a lot post-op until my first fill. My advice would be that you do not force yourself to eat too much but concentrate on taking your Vitamins and Protein and eating well. You need to keep your body nourished because being diagnosed with Iron difficiency or any other deficiency and being anaemic is not an easy thing to contend with. Congrats on your weight-loss. Keep up the good work.

8 months post Lap Band surgery & not enough restriction!!
kcg replied to fiona14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bonita, how long did it take you to eat 2 hamburgers, a cob of corn and large coleslaw 6 days after a fill? Were you able to eat it as you did pre-op? What I`ve noticed is that during my "bad days" I can eat any amount of food if I let myself do so. If you happen to be a bulk eater like me, then you really have to measure your food and keep to it. Regarding a leakage from the band, it`s easy to assess that. Your surgeon only needs to withdraw the saline prior to a fill and measure it in the syringe before putting it back. I also feel that if the tube is pressing against your diaphragm and causing you pain, then you need corrective surgery to address that. How are you doing in regards to exercise? Exercising helped me a lot when my eating was eratic. Good luck, hun. -
Did your shoe size change with weight loss?
kcg replied to project lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My shoe size changed from sizes 8 to 8.5 to size 7. One can only imagine how many shoes are wasted and that`s what makes me miserable but I guess it`s a blessing! -
The fluctuation of weight is quite normal throughout your journey. Am I reading your ticker right? If so and you have only 58lbs to lose then your weight loss will be slower that it is for those who have a lot of weight to lose. Until you achieve restriction through fills, I would watch what I eat and moderate my intake as well as exercise. You should be alright if you follow your care team`s directions. Good luck.

Accountability thread for October Bandsters!
kcg replied to kcg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All. Hope you`re all doing well. I returned from holidays on Tuesday. I had a fab time despite being tight at times. The 12 hours round flights were the ones I was worried about but both out-going and in-coming flights were brilliant. I did a lot of walking and drinking of water whilst away since I was in a hot climate. At a point, I had lost about 8lbs. That frightened me to the core so I became mindful of my food intake and gained about 3lbs back before the end of the holidays. I am currently working on gaining the rest back. Well, I will see how it goes. -

Flight was great. No problems at all. Managed to eat on board. A bit of tightness now, two weeks into holidays but managing alright. I`ve got two weeks to go. Hope you are all doing good. -

I`m glad your MIL is out of the woods. I didn`t think you would lose weight by not eating though because even if you did, you would have put it all back on when you were over your stress period. Trust me, I should know. been there over and over. It`s great that you`re stable though. Girl, size 6 sounds wonderful as I keep saying. I still can`t get into Uk size 6. I would look like a stuffed chicken or turkey. Same as you, I`m alright and comfortable with my weight and size. Who would have thought that I could go over a month without standing on a scale! oh and how I always dreaded it? Yesterday I did not even think twice about jumping on it, let alone dreading it. I`m going to Africa for about 4 weeks. 6 hours flight from Heathrow. I`ve been advised not to unfill and assured that I will be ok during the flight at 8 in a 10 band so fingers crossed it all goes well. I guess I`m going to refrain from eating whilst in flight. My only hope is that I don`t get too tight whilst there. I can mange being loose though because I`m quietly confident that I can control the intake of food. Well, I will let you know. LOL. I will also let you know how the flight goes. I went on a flght about a month post-op but it was within the continent and therefore a short flight. Good to read from you HDmama. Hope everybody else`s doing well and Leigha, you`ve finished the massive paperwork and living life. -

Hi, Just touching base. I`m doing well and hope you`re all doing great. Stood on the scale yesterday and still at the same weight I was over a month ago. I guess I`ve stalled at goal. That should be a good thing. Right? I`m eating well but the exercise is still in a stall. I guess when I return from holidays it will be a different story. Stay well, you all. -

I`m thinking of naming my band because it has got a mind of it`s own. Someone drove into the car of one of the rugby boys on Tuesday and this stressed me up a little. The band chose to tighten up leading to me throwing up anything that went in apart from water. It was so bad yesterday that I felt I was going to have to go in for unfill. I already had a scheduled outing with friends and I was dreading it but guess what? After a glass on wine and a bit of relaxation, it became loose and I could enjoy my meal. I did not go over-board though, just an average portion of chicken breast with cheese and other condiments which I tried to avoid. I had 2 mouthfuls of pudding. I`m finding that when I`m super-tight, a sip of wine helps a bit. Hope you`re all doing well. -

Poor girl, you`re still snowed under with work. Well, i hope it lightens up for you soon. In relation to the weight gain, your ideal is 135 right? You know what to do, hun. Hope your little puppy is doing well. HDmama, heard from the MIL? The weather is dreadful here. It`s windy and has been raining. It was not fun being a rugby groupie this morning. I lost a brolly to the wind. I could not walk around the pitch. What a pain. The eating is going well. Hope you`re all doing well. -

Oh dear, HDmama. So sorry to hear about the MIL`s health issues. I`m glad she`s ok. I`m also glad that you`ve recovered from your illness. Hope it was nothing serious. Did the tightness assist in any weightloss? I don`t think being tight whilst you are ill is good at all. I experienced it and did not do any better weightloss wise. Of course, when you`re getting better, you get into this eating spree which is also not helpful. Ohh, if life could be easier, eh? Hopefully the head hunger spell will not last for long and I`m glad you`re doing well today, hun. I`m doing well, I just need to stop the unneccessary shopping and drinking mocha. Bad habit. I`m going on holidays soon and this will involve 6 hours flight there. Do I need to unfill before I go? or will I be alright? I guess I`ll have to call the bariatric team for answers but has any of you had any experience? Hope everybody else is doing well. -

Hi All, Just touching base. Hope all`s well with everyone. I had an eventful evening last night. We went out to dinner at some friends and I drunk my calories. Not a very good idea. I managed the main meal but did not even look at the pudding. No hangover today and I worked it out by shopping all day. Well, it has been windy for the past 3 days and nights so one could not possibly go for a walk or run. LOL. Well, I`ve been extremely disciplined lately to the point of even forcing breakfast in most mornings, so I guess I deserve to have a vice. Hope to read from you soon. -

Well, it`s good that those crazy hungry moments soon pass. It`s therefore my prayer that you`re over it already. The psychological / head hunger is a pain in this journey. Just as I thought I had recovered from my illness, I have been struck down again and have been in bed for the past 48 hours. Eating has been problematic again. Although I`ve been able to drink some water, I just do not feel like eating. I forced myself to eat today though since I was feeling extremely weak. Thankfully, the food stayed down. This spell was severe abdominal pain. I had eaten a whole bagel and cheese and chive spread the previous evening. This was the first time I had managed a whole bagel since the op so I was beginning to feel that I had got blocked and the pain was excruciating. I think that it could be something else though but heyhoo, I`m up tonight. Still not 100% but moving around. Hope you`re all doing well. Have a good weekend -

It is amazing how much one can eat when they are recovering from feverish illness. Well, I`m on a roll so need to be stopped. I`m enjoying it though. Haven`t gained weight. Well, nothing more to say really. Just needed to vent or does this not count? -

HDmama, hopefully the exrcise is going well and I wish those stubborn 7lbs fall off soon. Just as Leigha, I need some motivation to get going with some intensive exercise to tone up a bit. In regards to the zumba, I think I`m on my own. LOL. The rugby boys wouldn`t even entertain it, although one of them said he would accompany me to first session to get me going. However, the idea of him stood or sat in corner watching me shimmy my stuff will be hillarious. I`m going to join that zumba class though. Leigha, you have a point about the TT and I`m going to think deeply about it before considering it. I feel a bit better today and have been eating very well. Still cloaky and fiverish but I`m getting there. Wishing you all well. -

Thanks, Leigha. Hopefully, the paper work gets resolved soon. As I mentioned, I have been quite unwell and I don`t know whether it`s the flu or something else. I`ve therefore not been able to eat well at all. The DH panicked whilst rubbing ointment into my back tonight and said I was getting too thin! What a bummer? because I`ve been getting the flack from others for so long but not from him. My hope is that when I recover from my illness and start eating well, I will fill up a bit. Hope you`re all doing well. -
Are you sore after a slime episode?
kcg replied to hautemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guess is that you are a little sore after your stuck episode. It should settle soon. After sliming, I would have waited a little while before drinking but I don`t necessarily believe that it is the cause of the pain. I don`t know how far you are on your weightloss journey but be mindful of your intake. Saying that, it` really trial and error at times. Provided you go by your surgeon and nutritionist` advice. Good luck. -
IT ISN'T HELPING, ANY SUGGESTIONS
kcg replied to GORDITA32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gordita - you need time. Most of the time, the band requires several fills (4-6) before one reaches restriction. I was fortunate that soon after my op, I was restricted and did not feel hungry (still don`t experience hunger) so I managed to lose a few lbs. However, after the 1st fill, the band losened up and I could eat whatever I chose to so I had to monitor my intake. On my 3rd fill, I met a lady at the fill centre who looked quite anorexic and had attended to unfill. She informed us that her first year was dissappointing since it was not until the second year that she started losing weight. That had been at the back of my mind throughout my journey. I can`t say I did not winge and moan about the slow pace I was losing weight and the numerous stalls I went through but unconsciously, I knew that if I worked the tool and respected it a bit, I would reach my goal. It was difficult though. Well, I got there eventually. However, I should point out that not everyone succeed with the band. You will get there so hang in there. The weight loss at 2 months is impressive so Celebrate that and keep up the good work. Good luck. -

HDmama, I totally agree with you about not being obsessive about calory counting. I know exactly what you mean because I`ve been like that in a while and has not bothered with the scales as well. You will reach goal eventually. Good luck with your preparation towards the bike ride in October. I`m doing the 10k midnight walk with some friends in June but that will not take much. I`m glad the weather is grea where you are. Our`s has improved drastically as well apart from some frost in the mornings. It`s still cold but the sun shines through. I`m looking at joinning a zumba class. I`m trying to get one of the rugby boys to go with me but they are not giving in. I guess I`m on my own. I`ve been a bit tight today and experiencing headache as well so not feeling great. Well, tomorrow will be another day. Have a good weekend, you all!
