Accountability thread for October Bandsters!
kcg posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Our surgi-versary / band-versary is in 3 months or less and I feel that an accountability thread will encourage / motivate us to set goals for ourselves in preparation towards our 1st anniversary. I know I need this and I am going to keep it going until October. Please join me if you can or chip in with encouragement / guidance at any point since it is most needed. Of course bandsters from other months who wish to do so can join in. I know that some of us would have reached their weight goals already but they can set other targets. Any goal goes, be it dietry, weight, exercise, cloth size etc. I will start by reporting that I had my surgery on the 20th of October last year. I have lost 65lbs since the surgery (slow but sure) and 79lbs since my first consultation a month before surgery. I always count the weight loss from surgery date so I will go with 65lbs. My weight this morning was 180lbs. My goal is to lose 35lbs more and increase my exercise routine by the 20th of October. I will weigh every Friday and report on what is happening with my weight loss journey intermittently, possibly daily till the band-versary. Please join me. It will be fun and the peer support will be appreciated. Group & Goal by Band-versary........................... Hi Littledog, Welcome to the thread and happ 2nd Bandversary. What a way to go? The weightloss is amazing. My guess is that the 20lbs will be a doddle. Good luck in losing them. Keep us updated of your progress. I`m rooting for you. -

Considering that you are still at the healing stage, not losing any weight is not a bad thing, provided you`re not gaining. It`s all about will power now until you start filling. The wound that is opened, is it the one covering the port? If it is, you might need to check to make sure that it is not infected. Hope you have a good day. -

Yeah bigger and better things this month! I`m happy for you that you didn`t stress eat when things were not working as you expected. That`s encouraging. I will check the My Fitness Pal app and friend you if I join. Have you lost any weight since last week? Are you healing well? -

Feeling a bit puffy / bloated today and have already eaten all my daily calories already but know I will eat more today. Nevertheless, I`ve already been to two classes today, spinning and aqua zumba. I`ll try and see whether I could go for bokwa tonight. I`ve had two days break from exercise so I should have the energy but I feel a bit floppy today. Hope you are all doing well. Happy bandversary to all who had their surgery on the 1st of Oct. -

It`s good that you can eat more but restrain yourself. However, I prefer not to be in ketosis because when I come out of it, I gain all the weight back. The head hunger never went away from me but I try to control it, sometimes unsuccessfully. I`ve gained a lot from others on various forums and keep working hard to get it right but never do. lol. Darkangel, keep sharing your successes and strugles and you will get the support needed. During the journey, you might come to a point that you feel the desperate enough to drop the batton, don`t do so just reach out. sugar-free popsicles sound good! -

That was when I was a few weeks post surgery and I could not eat much. The 800cal was even a stretch but not now. I actually keep within the 1500cal mark now and try hard not to go below that but not always successful. Sometimes I eat too much, others I stay sane. Darkangel appears not to be eating much and as she said remains in ketosis so I`m trying to encourage her to eat a bit more. However, if she is anything like me I could not eat much a few weeks post surgery. The feedback is always great, Okiegirl. It helps. Hope you`re doing well. -

Remaining in ketosis encourages rapid weightloss but i find that it does not work for me. I lose a lot of weight and as soon as I start eating it creeps back on again. When I was weeks into my journey, I could not eat much but I tried to stay within the 800cal mark. It was sometimes unachievable and I had to live on greek yoghurt. That soon passed though and I needed a lot of fills to reach the green zone. Your food choices are good so I guess you only have to keep up the good work. -

Sorry to hear about your seperation, what a bummer and taking the wii fit too? I find being registered to the gym helpful, especially when the exercise classes are inclusive. Paying the premium gets me out of my bed. I`ve been varying the routines so not to get used to a specific one. I also enjoy exercise more that way. The weight will eventually drop off because that`s the law of nature. If you exert more than you consume, you will lose weight. Give me a shout when you reach goal and i`ll do the dance with you, hun. lol. -

Darkangel, Yeah, tried eating early but mostly I`m not successful. I feel great whenever I manage to get breakfast in though. Is the "beef Bologna" all that you eat daily? I don`t know exactly what it is but beef is protein and at 420cals for all 3 slices should not make it difficult for you to lose weight. You`re going to be alright, hun. You`re doing well with the exercise. The aching will eventually stop if you persist. I went for aqua zumba and spinning today and I feel better for it. I love walking but it feels so lonely when you do it on your own. Do you walk with others? Regarding the weightloss, do you weigh yourself daily? If so, be mindful that it`s going to be utterly impossible to lose weight daily and not to be too disappointed about it. No gain is a good thing, right? You`re just a few days into your journey and have not started getting your fills yet. The weightloss will be a bit easier when you get a bit tighter. Personally, I`ve stopped weighing myself for a while but it`s not advisable when you`ve not reached your goal. It should be alright in the end. Either that way or we give up and we`re not going to do so. Right? We should just try hard to work with the tool. Hope your sores are healing well. -

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had not been feeling good but getting better now. The exercise routine going well and the eating`s going well too. My wish now is to be able to have breakfast daily but that`s not a priority at the moment. I guess eating too late at night means that I`m too full in the mornings for anything substantial. Working out in the mornings don`t help too since I find it difficult to exercise when I`ve eaten even an hour prior. Have a good week. -

Hi Marci, You must be looking great at 150. How tall are you? Anyway, congrats on your marriage. Gaining a bit of weight after such an important event should be expected I guess. How is the reflux at night? Did it settle after the unfill? Are they going to have to fix the slip or will it fall into place? The eating at night is a problem for me as well since I find it extremely difficult to eat in the mornings. You will celebrate your 3rd bandversary before me. My 3rd is on the 19th. The band is lovely when one works with it but it`s hard work. It is worth it though. Good luck in loosing the last 15lbs. It`s achievable. Congrats for the journey so far. -

Hi Darkangel 321, Welcome to the thread and congrats on your op and journey so far. 7lbs a month should be achievable. In regards to the loose skin, I`ve not got much apart from the tummy area. I`m exercising like anything to get rid of it but I don`t think that will do so I`m considering an op. In regards to the nutritional needs, you need to concentrate on taknig your vitamins and drinking additional protein, especially this early stages in your journey because being difficient in any nutrient is not pleasant. Ohh, the plateaus are killers. They demoralise you completely and I`ve been through a lot of them. What I usually did was to vary what i ate and the exercise routines. As it stands now, I`m exercising extremely hard to reach a goal for my bandversary. Nevertheless, I`ve reached my goal so it`s just about tightening the muscles. I`m wishing you all the best on your journey, it takes a lot of work but it`s worth it, hun. Keep us posted. -

3 days into current challenge and it` going so well. Both eating and exercising plan going strong. I`m mindful though that I`m only 3 days into it. The most difficult challenge today is stopping myself from going on the scale! -

Frustration when the weight is not falling as fast as you want it to but hopefully the journey will be a little smoother now that you`ve got restriction. Being at the sweet spot is great but not all of us stay there for long. So my suggestion would be you make good use of it. Congrats on the weightloss so far. -

I think taking some of the fluid out should hopefully resolve that issue. My surgeon had to remove some of my fluid last year as well due to my oesophagus showing signs of enlargement after an x`ray. He said that should resolve the problem. I haven`t gone for another x`ray yet so I don`t know whether it was resolved or not. I know that taking the fluid out didn`t help though. lol Ooh teaching zumbais a great idea. You must be fit then. Glad that you stayed at your goal. Congrats. -
I'm 5 Days Post Op And Exhausted! Is This Normal?
kcg replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As others have written, it`s quite normal but I would suggest that you ensure good intake of protein, water and vitamins especially iron. This coupled with light exercise helps. Hopefully the tiredness has subsided by now. -

Prolapse of which organ Okiegirl? Did they say that the band caused it? Yes, I`ve experienced a prolapse but it`s to do with my lower abdomin and I`m hoping that it has nothing to do with the band. Hope you`re alright weightloss wise. Good to read from you. -

This rings a bell for me but I`m working on those bad habits now, as of today. lol 20lbs by October could be steep though but it`s achievable. Do you have any exercise routines at the moment? I`ve been naughtie for a while but went for aquafit and zumba today! I can`t begin to tell you how I`m feeling. Mom2girls, please keep us informed of your progress and i`ll feedback as well. -

Hi All, How`re you doing? Almost 3 yrs now and it`s still a battle. I`m currently in a yo-yo phase with my weight but I`m working on it. Every now and again I get a kick from the band when I`m being too naughtie. Otherwise, I hardly notice it`s there. The clothes are getting too tight so to refrain from size-jumping, I`m upping the exercise and cutting down the intake. Hope an acceptable outcome is achieved prior to the bandversary in october.
