    Going nowhere over two months

I was banded on Jan 4 and had my first fill in early Feb with no fills since. I think I was over filled the first time because no matter what I ate, it came back up. For the past two weeks I feel like I am in a good spot, I feel restriction and know when to stop eating when the pain comes. As others say one more bit and then I am in trouble. I have started to lose about a half pound every day or every other day for the past few weeks. Just seeing something come off helps. My suggestion is either a fill or possible an unfill. I wished I would have unfilled but I didn't know what it should feel like in order to make the determination. Hang in there everyone it is a process. Slow and easy.

    Frustrated

I am having the same problem. I have been banded for 3 mths. I had my first fill back in Februrary. However I don't to get another fill because I think I was overfilled the first time. I am just now at the point where I can keep food down somewhat. I do feel the restriction now which is good as a month ago I didn't feel that since everything came right back up. Even with that said I have lost no weight since the surgery. Any suggestions?
  3. I am only a half lb from being under 200 lbs. I am so excited. I want to hear if you are close or if you did make it how did you celebrate?
  4. It's so great to hear all the stories of people making it to "onderland". And for those of you who suggested panties, great idea!!! Maybe this weekend I will be able to give myself a little treat.

    how many CCs?

I was banded on 1/4 (with no cc's). I had my first fill on Friday (2/5) of 3cc's in a 10cc band. They wanted to put 4 in but it was too tight for me. I am also testing to see what things I can and can't eat with the band since it is my first fill. I have also learned that I can't do breads, rice, Pasta, ect as it will get stuck and come rigth back up. The doctor doesn't want me to come back for my second fill for at least a month. I hope to lose some weight in the meantime.

    1st Fill advice

So I had my first fill yesterday and boy do I feel it. I am having trouble not getting stuck. I had 3 cc's, the doctor tried 4 but I couldn't handle that. I am hoping this help me get on my road to weight loss. I know I still have a waise to go before I find the "sweet spot". If anyone has advice on what to eat for a few days after the fill that would be great. I am trying to stay on soft/liquids for a few days. But also want to avoid the burping and getting stuck part if possible.

  8. My doctor submitted the authorization request on 12/1/09 and it is 10 days later and I am still "pending". Tricare says it is due to it being an elective procedure and not having a surgery date scheduled so they do not have to approve within 5 days like other procedures. Has anyone else had this problem?
  9. I am on Tricare Standard (North) also. Yes you do need an authorization. My experience is that Tricare North is a little slow compared to the other regions. Also if it doesn't show pending then the doctor hasn't submitted the authorization. If you are still have problems verify your doctor actually submitted (because mine lied and told me it was submitted and it wasn't). My overall process from submission to approval was 2 weeks. Good Luck!

    Bandster Hell

So I am almost 3 weeks post-op (1/4/10) and am close to finishing my first week of soft foods. I can say I have only vomited once after eating mashed potatoes too fast. No weight lost for the past week if anything I have gained a pound or two. I am ready for a fill and am tired of these soft foods. I can't wait for my first fill in less than a month. Maybe then I can begin this journey of weight loss. In the meantime my appetite is less and I am making better food choices than before the surgery. However, I feel as though I can eat anything and that is frusterating to sick to the soft foods. One day at a time.

  12. I am two weeks post op (1/4). Over the last week I have developed a lot of back pain. Is that normal? I also lost about 10 lbs the first week and now nothing. I know that is normal. Pain is minimal other than the back pain (where the port is). I have been trying to only use liquid tylenol or a crushed tylenol pm in the evenings to help with the back pain. Any suggestions on how to manage the back pain?
  13. I was banded on 1/4 and am not getting in enough liquids. I am not eating much but am able to get down what I do eat (full liquids - pudding, Jello, cream of wheat, ect). I am trying to keep a Water bottle so I know how much I am drinking each day but I know I am still not getting enough in. I do feel hungery and I eat a little when I feel my stomach growl and stop when I feel full (which is usually about 3/4 or less per meal). My only problem is that everything I eat runs right through me. I can't find a solution to the problem and I don't want to run to the bathroom every hour when I go back to work tomorrow. Anyone else having this problem and found a solution?

    Onederland is MINE

Congrats. I know the feeling every day I am just a step closer. Today I am 203.6. So close I can taste it. It is great to read about others working so hard for that same goal. I love the picture idea. I wish I would have taken a picture at my heaviest as a reminder to never get there again. Welcome to Onderland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I was banded on 1/4/2010 and also had to stay overnight as it is standard procedure for my surgeon. I also have trouble with the anesthesia and vomited a few times during the afternoon. Once they found some medication to curb the problem I was fine by 5:30 pm. I wish I would have gone home because I had no real sleep since the nurses came in every few hours and I had to get up every few hours to go to the bathroom due to the IV. As soon as I would get to sleep someone would wake me up. The pain wasn't that bad I didn't ask for anything except in the recovery unit (which I was in for 2 hours waiting for a room). I really knew my nurses in the recovery unit well by the time I left. I don't think I would have had any problems going home as I could keep liquids down, walk around and use the restroom. In a way it was nice having someone there to help if you needed it.

    6 days post op

So I am beginning to feel much better and able to walk around without much trouble getting up. Yesterday I even ventured out of the house for a few hours. I am noticing that I tire easily which isn't a good thing because I return to work on Monday. I have no trouble with eating (other than hunger and cravings for everything I see on TV). This liquid diet is driving me crazy but only another week of it and then at least some soft foods. Although this is better than the pre-op liquid diet. I notice I don't eat alot at each meal but do get hungery every few hours. I am really trying to get the protein in to help with this problem. I have some pain in my back from the gas but the heating pad really helps and of course where the port is. Otherwise no other pain. I have been having headaches the past few days (I think it is because I haven't been doing anything but sleeping). So I hope when I back to a normal schedule the headaches will go away. I gained a lb from yesterday but I am not too worried about it. At some point it will be lost again. I am just ready to go back to work because I am becoming so bored being at home.

  18. I was told it was one cup total for 3 meals a day and 2 Protein shakes as needed between meals. I was banded on Monday and have been eating as I feel hungery. So I probably have 1/2 cup of something every few hours. Eating a whole cup of food right now in one sitting is too much for me. I do agree that I feel hungery every few hours so I eat something small. I also try and get in at least two Protein Shakes a day to help with the protein and to get some calories. Because broth and Jello do not have a lot of calories. I don't know if that helps for not but I have lost 5 lbs since Monday.

What I didn't expect post op.

I hear you on the pain. Now it is the itching feeling from the stiches. I weighed myself yesterday and today. Yesterday I was 215 (which is about 2 lbs higher than just before surgery) but this morning I was 211. So I have lost a few lbs since surgery. Don't worry it will come off. How are you feeling today?

    Surgery 1/4/2010

Well I am four days post op and am beginning to feel better. My surgery was scheduled on Monday for 10 am but I went in early. I think I was in surgery within 30 minutes of arrival. I had a delay in the recovery unit as they were waiting for a bed to open up. So I was there for two hours. I have trouble anesthesia so I was vomiting a few times over the course of the afternoon until they found some anti nausea medication that helped. The overnight stay wasn't too bad other than having to get up every few hours and use the restroom. Everyone said I was doing great since I was able to get up and walk around alot without any problems. Coming home wasn't such a problem either. Everyday it is easy to get around (mainly up and out of bed because it is difficult to use the abs since that is where all the stiches are). The pain is much less than previously. I read a post about taking some gas-x and that has helped alot also. I have been using a heating pad on my back to helf relieve some of the gas pain. Eating hasn't been an issue. I eat when I feel hungery and stop when I am full. Maybe a 1/2 to 1 cup at a time every 3 hours or so. Jello, cream of wheat, cream soups, and pudding. I am also trying to have a couple of protein shakes a day to help make sure I get protein but that isn't as easy. I feel like I will be ready for work on Monday. Today I have a bad headache and wonder if I can take any tylenol? Other than that not too tired or sore. I weighed myself this morning 211. When I went into surgery I was 213.8 so at least I am down. Prior to the pre-op liquid diet I was 218. Every lb counts. So far no regrets.

  22. I am doing a two week liquid diet pre-op adnd have just finished my first week. I have no real weight loss to show for it. I have been drinking four shakes a day and eating carrots the rest of the time. How much weight did you lose during your pre-op diet? And is it ok not lose anything during the pre-op diet?
  23. Maybe the carrots are too much. I was told I could have an unlimited amount of raw veggies. So I picked carrots because they are the easy to take to work. Guess I will up the cardio this week and see if that makes a difference.
  24. I am on my first day of the pre-op liquid diet. I don't think it was too bad except for the following: 1) The Protein shakes served cold makes me feel nauseas. So I have learned to drink them warm. 2) I have terrible gas (from the Protein shake I believe). I have only consumed 1 1/2 shakes (4 is actually is a lot to consume in a day) and ate a 1 lb of carrots. I have also drank 32 oz of Water. So I have half there on my first day. 2 shakes to go and 32 oz of water. Maybe I can make it through this after all. Any suggestions on how to help with the gas and upset stomach?

    Day one on pre-op diet.

Good luck. I am having a hard time with this pre-op diet. Not to mention tomorrow my office is having pizza for lunch because we can't use the fridge. What do I do then? I keep telling myself only one more week to go and then at least a few more choices. Stick with it, I know it will be worth it in the end.
