  1. I know how you feel. And its hard because you are stuck at home recovering and have nothing else to think about! Plus, if you watch TV it is all about food! Here is what I did: When I felt deprived, I searched the internet for easily pureed food I can cook. Then I made a shopping list. The day before I could eat, I went grocery shopping and created my first meal (no crust quiche) the night before. Finally, the day came, and it turned out I wasn't missing much, I just thought I was. Also, about two days early, I got some Trader Joes tomato soup and had two half cups a day. I had no problem with this and it made me feel like it wasn't so horrible to not eat. I'm still on the pureed portion, I get soft foods on Thursday, and I'm not even to concerned or excited. I'm just looking forward to feeding myself in an easier way.
  2. Hi all! I just wanted to introduced my self. My name is Jeni and I just got banded on Thursday, Oct. 8. I had no clue that the first few days would be painful, but I know it was worth it. Anyhow, here I am, day 5. I have taken out the trash, picked up dog poo, went to the store, and did laundry. Pretty darn good! I am thankful, however, that I am a teacher and get a week off this week for fall break. I ate some broth from my favorite chinese food place that must have been way to spicy or oily. Not sure, but stayed up til 3:30 trying to regulate my, until then, non-existent bowel movements. Anyone else have anything like this?:sad:

    I have no problem moving liquids at all. Today I "cheated" and had tomato soup. I thought I was in heaven, pure heaven. I have not had that shoulder pain I have heard about, but, if I drinking something cold I have chest pain.

    Hi! It's not the band that you feel when you wake up, it's the pain. I've had multiple surgeries, so I have a fear of the time to go under as well as waking up. It's just hard because you hurt and you feel disoriented. But, within a half an hour, you are WALKING to your room. I can sort of "feel" the port on my left side, and that side is the more painful side, so after a night in the hospital waking my self up snoring while sleeping on my back, I decided to try laying on my right side. It's hard getting down to that position, especially in a hospital bed. Most important, get on your knees while getting in bed, drink a lot, and walk walk walk. Oh yes, and don't try to be above taking pain meds. They help! Overall, it's worth it!

    Good luck, it will go well. Just don't be shocked when it hurts more than you thought it would. Helpful hint, climb into bed on your knees and lower yourself down. Much less painless than trying to use your abs to try to lay down. Plus, walk as much as your can, you'll feel so much better.

    What? You get food? Lucky! I'm still on clear liquids and protein shakes. I have already made a shopping list for Weds. night, when I get to eat on Thursday.
