    Frustrated!!! Argh!

Hi guys, I am so frustrated. I am 2.5 weeks post op. I am back on mostly regular foods with the exception of some foods. Haven't tried lettuce or anything besides ground meat with the exception of a piece of chicken I had on my bday. Well I had lost 23 lbs. That includes the weight I lost on the liver shrinking diet the week before surgery (12.5). I was stuck at 23 lbs for about a week and then in the last couple of days I have gained 3 lbs. Is it normal to gain a couple of lbs when you go back to eating regular food? I felt restriction until about a week ago and now I am starving. I am sure that is because the swelling is going down but it doesn't make it any easier when I am so hungry I could eat a horse. I keep telling myself not to be so hard on myself. That is has been less than a month and I am down 20 lbs. I would have never been able to do that before but I would just like to see those 3 lbs I regained go away! I am supposed to get a fill 1/14. Hopefully this will help. Does the 1st fill usually give you restriction again? If so, does it last for a while? Sorry for all the questions I am a newbie and frustrated, scared, worried...you name it. Any answers and words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

You made the right decision. I am ready for restriction too. Bypass has way to many complications that could occur. Hang in there!

    Final Answer

Good for you! It is about you. I had support from only one close friend and my mom and dad. No one else in my family or friends wanted me to have it done. They said why don't you just stop eating or just stay on the liver shrinking diet until you get the weight off. They obviously were not thinking it all the way through because us dieters know that as soon as you go back to "normal eating" all that weight comes right back. Fad diets do not work. I truly believe alot of mine problem is from hormonal issues and genetics. I eat decent and work out 3-4 hours a day. I have had 5+ doctors tell me I should not have a weight issue. Well I know that and I am tired of having a weight issue so I chose to go forward with it. I am going to beat this and so are you!!!! Good luck to you and keep us posted~

    Am I going to Die!!!?

Hi. I had the same concerns as you before surgery. I actually almost backed out when they rolled me into OR and asked me to go from my bed to the OR table. I thought I could do that or I could just get off my bed and walk out...hehe. I had never been put to sleep before and I was SCARED....Scared I wouldn't wake up. Like you I would rather be fat than die. My dr. had told me the week before the fatality rate was something like 0.05% and that I would be fine. My anesthesioligist also tried to put me at ease right before surgery. I am not trying to scare you but I did have some complications with my 1st surgery. They think maybe an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. I came out of surgery throwing up and couldn't stop. I ended up herniating part of my stomach up and over the band. My Dr. admitted me to the hospital 2 days after my 1st surgery because I couldn't stop throwing up and was dehydrated and I had my "rebanding" the next day. The second surgery was a piece of cake. They said that is how the first surgery should have been and how it is for most people. I was really sore for about a week not sure if that was from the surgery or throwing up so much or both but I was up and in Walmart 3 days after the 2nd surgery. I am now 2.5 weeks post op and doing everything I was before surgery except my workouts are only walking right now. You will be fine! I don't think you have anything to worry about.

    Eat Eat Eat...

I'm so sorry! I am in the same boat with you. I would kick someone in the shins for some chips or chocolate....actually to be honest probably for anything except a protein shake...haha! I have been trying to keep my protein up and keep myself busy to keep my mind off of food. Seems to help for a little while anyways!

    Anyone have surgery recently

Hi! I had my surgery 12/17 and then rebanded 12/20. I am back to eating pretty normal foods. I felt restriction or the first week and a half or so but I am very hungry now. I get my first fill on 1/14 so hopefuly that will help with the hunger. Good luck to all of you and keep me posted.

    Hi!

I like you are a couple of weeks post op and starving. I get my fill 1/14 and I can't wait. I am trying to keep my portions small and my protein up. My family too is great cooks and love to eat. I have really noticed since being banded how much my family uses food for everything! Good luck to you too!

    PCOS.. Who's got it?

I got it too. Hoping with some more weight loss the facial hair will become lighter and less of it.
