I have also been hungrier the last two days. I will definitely be getting a fill when my 6 weeks are up. I have had to add snacks so I am sure my weight loss will be slowing down. It is part of the package so I will deal with it..... -

wls before surgery?
JoJo1 replied to moviestartaal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The insurance profession in this country is messed up if it requires people to lose weight prior to WLS. If we could lose weight, we wouldn't need the surgery. Amazing. I had to pay for my surgery just like all of my medical needs. I can not afford health insurance. Do we need a reform of this system? I think so.... -
When is enough enough or too much?
JoJo1 replied to Scottinnh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is an idea for breakfast, low in carbs but feels like cereal. A quarter cup of Flax meal and a half cup of boiling Water. I add more water because I like it a little thinner. I flavor it with a half teaspoon of cinnamon, and some splenda. A tablespoon of Peanut Butter helps keep it satisfying. This is rich in Omega 3's and it tastes good and hot. Nice in the morning and keeps me satisfied until lunch!!! -

I was 09/19/09. I am exactly 4 weeks now. I am doing great. 15 lbs lost which is a miracle for me. I am only a BMI of 33 so I am a little slower than most. I have't had any problems other that the regular shoulder pain in the first two weeks. I have some restriction from the beginning but even if I don't feel full, I still only eat about a cup and a half. I am starting to experience a little more hunger now so I am seriously considering a fill in two more weels. Thanks for this Sept category!! Every one hang in there Okay??? -
Glucose is too Hight and Doc wont authorize surgury !!
JoJo1 replied to SoflaJim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes and you will be surprised how satisfying protein is. You eat meat, eggs, cheese, seafood, and green vegs. No starchy vegs, potatoes, pasta, rice, fruit, or bread. A steak and a salad or a hamb. patty and a salad, etc. is way more satisfying than the carb junk and you will feel so much more energy. You will need to eat this way after surgery too so give it a try!! Good luck!!! -
I have GERD and Gastro Pariesses...
JoJo1 replied to kaitlynmarie93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a diabetic and had fairly severe gastroparesis years ago. I went on a low carb diet and got my sugars in excellent control and took care of the gastroparesis at least I thought. After I was banded, I have had a mild form of it prop back up. I need to take short acting insulin in the morning to take care of it for the first time ever. I think the band puts at least a little pressure on the vegus nerve and causes this. I know it helps to eat your dinner early and not snack in the evenings. I do this now and it is much better. Best of luck with it!!!! -
At times like this, I have to get up and go for a walk and have a talk with myself. I also sometimes make a turkey burger and put some white cheese on it without the bun. Add a slice of onion and a tomatoe and you can take care of this craving. Best of luck!!!!

RE: Urinary Tract Infections?????!!!!!
JoJo1 replied to dfox3325's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay guys I am going to tell you what a doc told me a long time ago about these UTI's. It isn't me, it is the doc. Okay? He said they are caused by sex. The bacteria gets backed up into the little tube that lets the urine out. He said learn to always wipe from front to back, and alway get up and go pee after sex. I learned these two things and I don't get them anymore. I used to get them all the time, so these help even if they don't completely take care of it. Sorry, the doc said it so I pass it along when ever it seems needed!! -
I craved canned asparagus and it was easy. Protein is hard during this stage. I bought baby food and mixed it with other adult stuff like salza and natures seasons. Anything you can eat if you don't have teeth goes during mushy... I have seen toothless people eat lots of stuff so use your imagination.....

How long were you out of work post-op??
JoJo1 replied to MissTeach123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those shoulder pains are wierd.. Mine were in my left shoulder and stayed for a couple weeks. Sometimes pretty severe. Then they just left. I still don't understand them. My daughter who was banded two years ago, say she still gets them if she over eats. -

JoJo1 replied to MissTeach123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery Sat. 09 19. I went to work Tuesday and worked on my feet all week. I should have rested a little longer though. I had a rough day the following Monday. It was my day off anyway but I didn't want to do anything at all. It was only one day and I was very much better on Tues. morning. It is typical for me to push too hard but it worked out in the long run. I think people need to listen to their body and treat it the way it needs to be treated. Best of luck to everyone.... -

There are a million good Protein Drinks out there. Try something else. If you starve you will get depressed, may have already happened. It is so important to get the proper nutrition. Hope you can get this figured out. -
I remember going to Weight Watchers years ago. Actually I did it a few times. One time I got to within 5 lbs of my goal and loved it but I was very hungry, all the time. In one of the meetings my husband and I learned about binging. The class was about learning different techniques to avoid Binging. I had never heard of this before. Within a week of the class, I did it. My husband and I went to every fast food place in town and ate what we had been craving for all those months. I was not able to get back on track after that and of course gained all the weight back and more. I never did any more binging thank goodness but I figured out way back then that my problem was hunger. This band has really tamed the beast!! I love it!!!

How bad is soda for the band, really?

Upload it the same way you do a picture. Instead of choosing a picture, just choose the little ducky.... -

If you are using a PC, just right click on the little chicken and save him to your pictures. Then when you look for him in your folder, he won't be dancing. Just add him to an email or to your signature on your email, he will dance then. -
Drinking it during the liquid stage and eating it during the soft and after stage. As much as you can get down.

One other thought on this. People who drink pop, even diet pop, are fatter than people who don't. This is a fact so maybe it will help. -
So here's the million dollar question

I agree too. Whenever I mention to anyone that I went to a Mexican Dr. I get so much flack. However after reading a number of posters here, I think there are some State side Docs who are clearly not doing their job. I got a really good one and I feel grateful. -
how much did you loose first week post-op?
JoJo1 replied to lindac80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc wanted clear liquids for two or three days. I tried to drink V8 on the second night and it did not go down well. I continued with clear for one more day, and then started the full liquids. They were fine. I was on full liquids for two weeks, then mushy for two more. Best of luck!!!! -
I love the Fugi Apple too!!!
-
I did a long time ago. It was related to blood pressure medication. You might need to reduce yours. In the mean time, if you take blood pressure medication, try some salt to fix it....

JoJo1 replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The secret is Protien Protien Protien.... You will be fine. I have had restriction and I am only 3 1/2 weeks out. The secret is protien and small portions. You stop when the food doesn't taste good. That is the best I can describe. With any of life's endeavors, there are people who don't do it very well. Those people don't do anything well. You can decide to do this well. I hope you can dismiss the negative posts here and decide to do this well. Have a great journey!!
