I just don't get it.......
JoJo1 replied to toddee1099's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told over and over again to not expect to lose any until after you get restriction and then only 1-2 lbs a week. I lost 10 lbs the first week too but then only 1 or two a week. I skipped weeks when I needed a fill too so at some point, I will be working those first 10 lbs into that equation. Sometimes the hardest work we do is getting out heads fixed to the right attitude!!! -

not loosing anymore--- what to do!?
JoJo1 replied to oherin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't lose at the same pace as the first two weeks any more at all. Even after you reach restriction, it will be one or two pounds a week with an occasional bigger loss. Even on the Biggest Loser, they lose excessive amounts the first week and then they go much slower after that. We can't work out 8 hours a day like they do so we need to just relax, exercise as much as we can, and then be patient. I walk in the morning because I know I won't do it after work. It makes my whole day so I have grown to really like it. Then when I get home from work, I can relax without guilt. You might want to try this... Best of luck!!! Congrats on your weight loss!! -

Looking for those who started with BMI 35 or less
JoJo1 replied to homewith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Mexico so I have a 4cc band. My doc said he determined the size of the band after he was inside and saw the size of the stomach etc. I asked him first thing after surgery because I really wanted to know. I am currently filled to 2cc and it feels perfect. I lost 2 lbs this week. Do not worry about other people. We can never please everyone else so it only makes sense to please us. I haven't told people unless they notice that I am thinner, then I share because I hope to help some others to decide on the band in the future. I am in a loose size 14 now after being a tight 18W so people are starting to notice. The state-side bandsters have larger bands. I am not sure about the reason other than they are being more conservative in hopes to make them last longer. I plan on keeping mine for the rest of my life, even if I need to replace it someday. Hugs!!!! -

If you have one of the larger 10 or bigger cc bands you are not likely to have restriction for quite a while. Maybe even a year. Solid foods are much easier to control so it will be better after you get to solids. I used all protein before and after the band. Even on liquids I did protein. It makes a huge difference in how satisfied you are. Staying away from carbs is part of this. I still don't use them at all. I just feel so much better if I stay away from them including much more energy. I did not get injections after the surgery, and I had disolveable stitches so I didn't have to get them out. Hang in there the future will be life changing!! -
You are very wise for being only 7 days out!! This is the key to everything. The more positive things we find to focus on, the more positive things show up in our lives to bless us. I was born to the world best pessimist and learned it from a very early age. I had to figure out how to turn it around on my own. I have done it so well that I now drive everyone crazy with my sunny outlook. Love and Light to you!!!!!

Alcoholic beverages?
JoJo1 replied to 1unknownperson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The main concern is that they don't want to band alcoholics. However, I know an alcoholic who is banded. She has lost 100 lbs and is doing fine. I drink wine a couple times a week and am still losing at least 1 lb a week. I am sure you will be fine if you drink the way you say you want to. -
Weigh yourself once a week first thing in the morning naked. Then put the scale away until the next week. Even a cup of coffee weighs a half pound so it is best to stay away from the scale the rest of the time.

You have to figure out how to get more protein into your liquids. I put meat into the blender and thinned it with chicken broth. I also added Velvetta cheese to make the protein higher. Also whey protein powder helps. You have to get more protein in and it cuts the hunger. Best of luck!!!

I personally don't do protein shakes. I did on mushies but not since. I was advised against them since they just go right through the pouch and provide too many calories. Just stick with lean protein and veggies. You will start to lose when you reach your sweet spot.... Best of luck!!!

I worked full time on my feet the Tuesday after a Saturday surgery. I found that the water helped me the most. I was very tired if I neglected this one thing. Hope you feel better very fast... Also the best thing to keep skin from sagging is exercise. It is too soon for you but if you get up and do lots of walking as soon as you can, it helps with much of what you are experiencing. Have a wonderful lap band experience!!!

amazing what a 35 lbs loss can do
JoJo1 replied to Stacy1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter feels the same way about her arms. She has lost about 95lbs but still hates her arms! I don't notice them near as much as she does. She says she is going to get them reduced when she can afford it. I still don't notice them but if she holds them up just right, I can see that they have extra skin hanging down. Now that I have lost 31lbs, I notice that my skin on my whole arm and back of my hands looks crepey.. Like an old womans skin. That is the hardest for me. I am almost 59 so I guess I need to just grow up!!! LOL!!! -
I'm soooo tired! Any suggestions??
JoJo1 replied to mommymya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought of something else for you.... Personally I hate water but when I am feeling less energy I ususlly find that I have neglected drinking it for at least part of the day. If I drink it, I immedietely feel better. You mentioned your calories but not your water intake so maybe this will help...... Have a great week!!!! -
Sending you Love and Light!!!!

amazing what a 35 lbs loss can do
JoJo1 replied to Stacy1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The paople who see me regularly have not noticed that I am down 31lbs but people who haven't seen me in a while, seem to notice right away. Maybe it is like when people don't recognise your kids because they are bigger, but to you they look the same. I had a wonderful compliment about a week ago. A man who I had not seen in a couple years came into my business. He asked me about the "older" woman "who used to work here "that had a son in the military. I told him it was me, and he said "Wow you look younger!! I said yes I colored my hair, and he said "Well you must have lost a bunch of weight too!!" I smiled for the rest of the day!!!! -

If you had any blood sugar issues before surgery and it is evening itself out now, it can cause this. It is worth a vist with your doc at least on the phone. It is also a good chance that it is the weight loss. I had a couple days like that but it was in the first week after surgery, and I attributed it to inflammation. I also felt that way for a few days before coming down with a cold recently. I wish you the best. your weight loss is amazing.... Keep up the good work!!! -

8 weeks post op ~ feeling discouraged
JoJo1 replied to jessicakolman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 600 calorie thing is a mistake. You will put your body into famine control in a couple weeks time. You should be eating three times a day and taking 1000 to 1200 cals a day. If you do this and drink your water, you will lose at least 1 lb a week. Best of luck with your weight loss. -
Russell Stover makes sugar free Pecan Delights. They are a lot like turtles however they are sweetened with Maltitol or something like it. I can't eat more than two or I will suffer major gas attacks. They take care of the craving too. They are really good!!! Get them where ever they sell Russell Stover.

I loved this story!! Sounds like you are much better off without him. I have an ex much like him, but his thing was money. Always blamed me for us not having any, and now he is still broke as ever. I'm not!! LOL.... I did have a friend years ago, though, who would always make comments about my weight. She was thin, and smoked so I was often enraged about her attitude about weight. She would say things like she could not understand why people could not just push themselves away from the table a little earlier. Then go on and on about her own methods of watching her weight. Our friendship disolved after a failed business partnership and I did not see her for over 15 years. Then I ran into her at a seminar, and lo and behold!!!! She was fat!!! Karma!!! -

I wondered if different docs had different requirements. You just answered that for me. Congratulations by the way, and best of luck to you..... -

So do you know why? Is it the blood clot issue?
