I spent my whole life either fat or I thought I was fat. During the years I was not fat I was still miserable because I thought I was fat. I was actually built bigger than my Mother who was 5'2" and 98lbs her whole life. I developed a "fat" mind set at an early age. I did eventually become fat after many many years of dieting. I did lose weight from time to time, but always gained it back and then more. I now believe that dieting made me fat. I spent the last 20 years of my life over 200 lbs, and one of my daughters, decided to get lap band surgery. She lost 90 lbs and I just suddenly decided I did not want to spend the rest of my life fat. I was banded 09/19/09. I am now three weeks post op. I have lost 13 lbs and have not had any problems with the diet. I am a type 1 diabetic so I have followed a low carb diet for the last 10 years. I can say that it is absolutely healthy to do it, and it has made me able for the first time in my life to control my blood sugar. I found ways in the liquid stage to stay low carb. I am eating food now, and I eat almost all protien with a little green vegetable. Never any sugar, never any fruit, never any bread, potatoes, or pasta, never any starchy vegetables. It keeps my blood sugar on track and I am healthy after 10 years so I expect to be healthy for the rest of my life. I also plan to do it much thinner than I am now. Yea for lap band!!!
