    Fresh out the O.R.!

    Wow! 80lbs in 6 months. What exercise routine are you following? What's your diet like? I will be banded on the 10th. I am looking forward to get some pounds off so I can exercise with less pain.
  2. Hola Bandmate! We only have 6 more days wow! I've been on the pre op diet since Oct 26th and have lost 12lbs so far and I feel great! Are you gettting jitters? I am.

  5. My nutritionist said the same thing about smoothies. She said I should avoid them. But I explained to her that the smoothies I make are all fruits and vegetables and water or almond milk and sometimes I add non fat yogurt (I don't add sugar). She still seemed to be against it. I didnt get it. Veggies and fruits are good for you right? LOL! But then she explained that it wouldn't keep me full like solid food will. But I also don't understand why its not okay for the puree or mushy stage. Okay...I'm confused too.
  6. My surgery is Nov. 10th. Getting anxious!

  7. I'm doing pretty well with my pre op diet. It's now day 8. And I've lost 8 lbs. Only complaint is that I'm starting to get diarrhea now, even though my drinks don't have lactose. Ughh!! But I'm hanging in there.

     

    Today, I almost had a breakdown though because my primary doctor's office was giving me a hard time about my medical clearance. So, I called NYU (where I'm having my surgery) and told them about the problem. So they are going to let me see a Dr. at NYU tomorrow and he will do my medical clearance. I am thankful that I thought to call my primary today. If I didn't, I would've run into a huge problem.

     

    I've been doing better at work too. Not snapping at people like I was last week. LOL! But if another person asks me if I want any lunch from outside, I'm gonna hurt em'...bad.

  8. I know this seems backwards, but once your calorie intake is too low, your body will hold onto weight (starvation mode). Once you start getting an adequate amount of calories, your body will function as it should and the scale will move. Weird isn't it?
  9. Just made something yummy with my limited pre op food options. Besides the protein shakes I can have two cups of non starchy veggies and broth. So I used 1 trader joes concentrated chicken broth packet, 1 cup water and warmed it in a pan. Added 1 cup of frozen artichoke hearts, a little pepper . Cooked until hearts were tender. Yummy! Can add more water and another packet of broth if you like the soup part.
  10. Just started cleaning out my kitchen. Which is easy since I live alone. I didn't waste much since I haven't gone shopping for a while. Was guilty of living off take out. But, I cleaned out the fridge completely and my cupboard. Its a shame that I'm already tired and need to take a break. Exactly why I need to get this weight off. Gonna clean my apartment from top to bottom this weekend and get rid of clutter. Emotionally, I need this. Day 6 of the pre op diet and still going strong!
  11. I am scheduled to have my surgery Nov. 10th. At first I didn't tell many people that I was getting the surgey. But then I started to tell people at work I am close to. Now, I really don't care who knows. I know there will be people expecting me to fail. Because they've "heard" about other people not being successful longterm with wls. However, its just a great incentive to prove them wrong. Most people are supportive of my decision though. The funny thing is that I have two friends that have confided in me that they are getting breast augmentation soon. They are comparing their situation to mine. I just keep my mouth shut cause I can't bear to tell them its not the same at all. They are both in perfect shape and I never even noticed they had "small" breasts. Its not the same. But of course I am trying to be supportive, and I am happy that they will be happier with themselves.

  13. I saw your post. I am being banded at NYU hospital in NYC and I know the surgeons do fills for others as well. Try Dr. Kurian, Dr. Ren, or Dr. Fielding.

    Actually my surgery is on Nov. 10th. But I just started my pre op diet yesterday. I am struggling already, but haven't cheated. I live in NYC and the walk to the subway alone will bring a foodie to their knees. LOL! Everything smells terrific! But I'm staying strong. I am having 3-4 protein shakes, and 2 cups of plain non-starchy veggies a day. I was told I couldn't have caffeinated coffee, decaf is a waste so I don't bother. I also had to quit smoking (it's been a month). So you know I've been going through some serious ups and downs.

    I understand what you are feeling. I get banded Nov. 10th. I haven't been able to get anything done at work. I start to daydream about shopping in "regular" stores. And "jogging" with friends.
