effects from sinuses/allergies
TracyNYC replied to trishfish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I do feel tighter when I have sinus issues. I am on a steroid and antibiotic and am up 3 lbs. This happened last time too. As soon as the meds were out of my system the extra came right off. I am on Cephtin 500mg 2x a day! Pretty strong stuff. Good Luck. -
I will be heading back to the supermarket tomorrow. Thanks for all the ideas.

Those of you that take anti depressants...
TracyNYC replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting question. I am on Paxil for anxiety and have been on 20mg for almost the whole 3 years. I had not thought about how the weight loss would affect dosing....I would think the dose would go down as the weight does, but reading here it seems the opposite. Def check in with your doctor. The meds can be dangerous if not dosed correctly. Feel better. I know that anxiety sucks. -
NSV: My Favorite Exercise is Shopping
TracyNYC replied to stateofzen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am wondering about the selection too JMin. When the time comes I think it will be overwhelming. The Plus department is a little corner behind maternity that the selection is so limited, or one store like Avenue. What am I going to do with all those choices? LOL -
Does anyone REGRET getting banded and why?
TracyNYC replied to hunnybee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No regrets here. I get frustrated sometimes and then kick myself for being upset over food. I was banded a year ago and have lost 66 lbs. I have been filled about every other month since the surgery and can honestly say that the weight/hunger struggle continued for about 6 months. After my fill in May the hunger stopped completely. I was losing all along, but very slowly. After the May fill it really picked up. My exercise is spotty and I have had my "bad" food days too. My surgeon had excellent pre-surgical education and was on the money with what to expect before and immediately after the surgery. The only thing I think most people are surprised at is the amount of food you can shove in before getting proper restriction. Good Luck and feel free to ask all your questions here. Pretty much nothing is off limits. We talk about sex, bathroom iss:blink:ues and everything in between. -
Wishing you the best. Make sure the two docs work together. Stay positive.

I will keep trying and play around with it. I saw a recipe using cream cheese. I only bought 1 bag of the easy steamers in case it was disgusting. Back to the supermarket. If I discover a good recipe I will def post.

Why couldn't YOU lose weight without the lap band?
TracyNYC replied to amberakamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a bit different. I was never able to lose well. I would do WW faithfully for weeks and lose .2 lbs. I would then become disgusted and feel like I was wasting money and quit. My loss has been slow even with the band and really only picked up after 7 months. The difference was that with the band my falls off the wagon were kept in check by the band. I am 100% happy with my choice and loss. -
Went for an Unfill- Reflux
TracyNYC replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an unfill for the same reason. Now I am getting hungry again, which I am not happy about. The reflux started about 3 weeks after the last fill and as soon a s I mentioned it they were pulling out the 1/2 cc they had put in in August. -
Goes down too well. Only have it if I go to a movie and then I get a kids meal. Small popcorn, Water or iced tea. and I choose the trail mix instead of candy. $12 for a ticket, $7 for the snack! UGH

Is Everyone Drinking 64 Oz Of Water A Day?
TracyNYC replied to Esorami's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 5 days out you won't be able to get the 64 in. Just keep trying. On a normal work day I def get over 64 oz of liquid in. In the beginning, I could not do the whole 64. Give it time. -
I got a hospital bill for$60K for my Band!!
TracyNYC replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those numbers are crazy. How do they not get caught for over charging the insurance? Why is it one price for self pay and another for insurance? I am not sure what my total was. I had $1000 deductible since my surgeon was out of network, but that was it.... -
Advice Needed - First date :)
TracyNYC replied to Stacy1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soup and a sald or small appetizer? I often "treat" myself to a baked potato when out b/c it won't get stuck. I know not a great healthy choice, but once in a while is OK and goes down easy. Let us know what you choose and how the date goes. -
I am setting a January 1, 2011 goal to be in one-derland. Joining the Halloween challenge was great for me. I was 221 today and think I can hit 199 (or less) by January 1st. Will be a happy way to start the new year! Maybe I can hit surgeon goal of 170 by Easter! LOL

Halloween Challenge
TracyNYC replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love doing this. Keeps me accountable between doctor visits. Had an unfill, so am a little worried. Who is setting up the Thanksgiving challenge? That spread sheet is beyond my abilities on computer...LOL -
WOW! That is great! I am jealous. (Not of your other surgery...) My 1 year was October 5 and I am down 66lb. Great job!

MUSHIES! What are you eating?
TracyNYC replied to emsbugbug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The FF refried beans w/ cheese, Hormel 98%FF turkey chili, ricotta mush (as described above), chicken sald, egg salad, mashed potato. MMMM Good -
What foods get stuck in your band?
TracyNYC replied to use-to-be-cute's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pork (not ham though) is a no-no for me. very doughy bread is bad. I just had a slight unfill last week and was able to get down a toasted sandwich thin today. I have had an upset stomach (bug, not band) for 2 days and I just "knew" the bread would be ok, even though since my May fill I gave up all bread as it was getting stuck. Eggs suddenly are no longer working for me. -
Afraid to be successful? Afraid to lose weight??
TracyNYC replied to missthaaaang's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we get comfortable being "the fat one". It is all we have known for so long that it fits better than any size 12 might. I finally have dropped enough weight that I can see it and am proud and happy, but am terrified of failing. I had a slight unfill this week and have been eating like a mad woman. Why? Something to talk about in therapy this week. LOL I guess the head needs to catch up with the body. -
Went to a movie last night and realized I had room in the seat with me. I also watched my 2 friends, one on each side struggle in the seats. I was in the middle and there was a time we would have sat a seat apart to have room. 1. Want to shop in NY and Co. 2. Go to a social event and enjoy myself, instead of feeling so self conscious the whole time.

Creative way to buy new clothes!!
TracyNYC replied to Beachbunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good idea if the time is there, I already work 2 jobs and am awaiting the start of Saturday school. This is anticipation of my oil bills. Heard it will be at least as bad as last year. (mine top off between $600-$700 per month). I have thought of a retail job, but just don't have the time after teaching all day, job 2 and 4 or 5 hours a night marking papers. It has to get better soon! Best of luck to everyone.
